The true joy is replacing the coleslaw with extra Texas toast and making a sandwich with the chicken tenders.
Wait. They do that? Wow, what a hack!

Despite British Airways leaving my bags in London, leaving me without my things once returning home, I 100% agree with this (still had a great experience with British Airways). The service is just better. I flew Scandinavian Airlines earlier this year and that was even better than my British Airways experience. I’m flying Finnair in November and I’m looking forward to it. I haven’t flown internationally with American Airlines since the insanely poor experience I had with them coming back from Italy in 2019. Likely never again.
I dislike United very much. I do enjoy Delta and will be flying with them to New York tomorrow, actually. I’d be willing to give Delta a chance in terms of flying internationally.
All of the Asian carriers I've flown (Cathay Pacific, JAL, several Chinese airlines) have been incredible.
American Airlines left me stranded as well, specifically in North Carolina. They didn’t offer to pay for a hotel for the evening, no food vouchers, nothing. I slept in the airport clutching my carry-on, as I was afraid of someone potentially taking it. Some of the worst sleep I’ve ever gotten. They didn’t apologize once. It took forever to get boarded onto a plane the next afternoon, only to de-board, then board again, then de-board again because the pilot had timed out. I was heated.I am right there with you. Overseas, I will go with Delta to get home if other options are not working with my itinerary, but I always fly the accepting nation's flag carrier to get there. Exactly opposite of what the Pope does when he travels.
SAS is great, Finnair is even a bit better in my opinion. The Marimekko designed napkins and tableware is wonderful. And order the Lingonberry gin cocktail!
American Airlines; never, never again for me too. They lost me over a decade ago by stranding me back east and then treating me as if it was my own moral failings that led to their cancellations. American has horrible service on the ground and in the air, even when their planes are on time. United isn't much better. So sad, really.
I've had good experiences with JetBlue, but I wish they had more service west of the Rockies. They need to give Alaska Airlines a run for their money. I'm hoping that once their takeover of Spirit goes through, and they send all the Spirit employees to re-education camp or simply give them a free semester at the local trade school of their choice as part of their severance, that JetBlue will beef up their West Coast service. When they abandoned Long Beach Airport, I nearly wept.
Just wanted to chime in and say Canes is definitely something to check out, fast food wise! My friends in SoCal would talk about it for YEARS until they built some locations near me finally, and it didn't disappoint. It's not gourmet dining by any means, but it is definitely my favorite place to get good quality fried chicken quickly and the sauce is delicious! I'm not a coleslaw fan so I usually get a box combo, replacing slaw for fries or another piece of Texas toast.Any other fast food recommendations? Never checked out Canes so will give it a go!
I had no idea Raising Cane's had coleslaw. I go there about every two months, but I always get the same thing; Three Finger Combo. Does the coleslaw come with the 4 Finger option? I'll have to try it, but I'm not giving up my Texas Toast.

I've never thought of using the extra toast to make a sandwich, definitely gotta try that on my next visitThe true joy is replacing the coleslaw with extra Texas toast and making a sandwich with the chicken tenders.
Did you get to this part?Watched the first half of the live action Pinocchio last night? Why did it get such bad reviews? So far it’s not bad.
EDIT: watching the second half now. This is going downhill fast.
Did you get to this part?
Sounds about right.Lol yeah. I liked it through him meeting Honest John. Kind if starts going off the rails during Stromboli scenes and then completely lost me after that. Some still watching. I’m not.
I like Southwest, but I don’t like how assigned seating isn’t a thing.Generally speaking, I prefer American over United, although neither are great. Unfortunately, I had to fly American to Hong Kong in 2019-such a marked negative difference when compared to any Asian carrier I've flown-and when I flew American to California in July, wifi was $30. Still, American feels more legitimate to me than United, which has had a more scattershot, disorganized feel. American still feels vaguely like they care, whereas United it feels clear that they couldn't care less.
Southwest seems to have the perkiest flight attendants, but I hate the way they "take your drink order" and then circle the entire cabin a second time to get you your drink. It's nice to not have to pay to check bags, but I also don't care for the vague anxiety that I might not check in fast enough and might not get an aisle seat. Oh, and they have the worst computer issues.
Delta doesn't have much of a presence in Chicago, so I haven't flown them all that much. It's been over a decade. Whenever I've looked, they're always pricey. I've heard they're a better carrier than the others, and I don't doubt it, but I'm skeptical that they're that much better. And ultimately, Chicago is much better served by American, United, and Southwest than Delta.
Air Canada is just as bad as an American airline-the only real difference is that they repeat the safety instructions a second time in French.
I very much enjoyed my flights on Lufthansa and Virgin Atlantic.

Three weeks? Where did you come back from?I just think that's the worst part; they refuse to apologize or even acknowledge that anything happened. Infuriating.
I had the exact same situation you did with them. I have gotten to a point in my life where I can splurge the extra few hundred bucks on First Class tickets, which is supposed to make things easier. But American Airlines simply doesn't care. I got no information aside from "Cancelled", no food voucher, no help with hotel or taxi, no ability to speak to a human of any kind, no idea where my luggage was, and no guarantee I would even get a flight within the next 48 hours.
But again, the glaring insult is the complete lack of apology or any acknowledgement of any kind. Even just over 3 weeks later when my suitcase finally arrived at my home, there was no apology note or communication of any kind from American. Just a suitcase left sitting on my front steps covered in barcode stickers. Never, ever again will I fly with them.
Three weeks? Where did you come back from?
At least it wasn't a suitcase bomb.Don't even get me started.
I was merely changing planes in Chicago after a visit in Detroit, which was obviously all my fault for letting American Airlines take my money to do that for me. American cancelled a bunch of flights due to "weather" (moderate rainfall at O'hare, really). The following afternoon I got routed to San Diego, then took Amtrak back up to OC. My suitcase sat in an O'hare baggage warehouse for three weeks. I got the same automated email message from American about it once per day for 5 days, and then they went silent...
Just over 3 weeks after my flight was cancelled I had assumed I'd never see the bag again, and American was eternally "in process" on my lost bag claim. I was out to dinner on a Saturday night and my home security camera recorded a non-uniformed man in a older Toyota Corolla arriving in my drive; he got out and rifled through suitcases in his trunk and stacked in his backseat and then pulled out my suitcase. He walked it up to the front door, plopped it on my doorstep, rang the doorbell, and then drove away. No note, no email. Just the bag left on the doorstep, with a dozen barcode stickers on it.
That was my last interaction with American Airlines, and I can guarantee that it will be my last.
Yes. Flew them years ago LA to Tokyo. Still talk about it.I've never flown Cathay, but JAL is fabulous. But even better, beyond belief, is...
Have you ever flown Singapore Airlines? If you haven't, you need to approach that decision with caution, because a flight on Singapore Airlines is life changing. You'll never fly American Airlines again.
