On a recent MiceChat article, people were complaining about all the additional ads that have been added that now block most of the pictures. I suggested using an ad blocker. Dusty wrote back:

Blocking ads is like stealing. If you want there to continue to be a MiceChat, don’t block or encourage others to block our ads. You wouldn’t go to a restaurant and then encourage the other guests not to pay.

Is Dusty insane?

No, just irrelevant. Who cares about ads when the articles themselves are puff pieces. That Incredicoaster review was embarrassing.

I noticed last year, around Pixar Pier's opening and media previews- that Micechat became unbelievably positive. Like a complete 180 from their usual focus on all that's wrong inside the parks.

Then, they gradually became more skeptical of the park after the Pier's opening.

Now? It's all pixie dust and roses over there- I'm assuming since they want to be invited to the Galaxy's Edge previews.

I miss Al Lutz.

I know you're joking- but I'd actually love to see a mini series highlighting the progression and eras of themed entertainment- from Disneyland to Las Vegas's evolution- to Disney's decline in the late '90s, their brief comeback, and now the era of half assed overlays and IP focused lands.

Not because of this. He is right. Ads are how the costs are covered that allow you to benefit from someone else’s work for free. It’s a sentiment @wdwmagic has repeatedly shared.

It's amazing how much those ads at Micechat contain malware. I temporarily turned off my browser ad blocker and relied on my antivirus ad blocker. I browsed their forums and came back with five malware ads and 32 trackers. Even here there are three trackers and four ads being blocked. No malware detected here. If Dusty wants to pay for fixing my computer, I'll white list him but until then I'll use safe computing practices.

Honestly, Dusty's comments in that thread show me he's way over his head running Micechat- and honestly has no idea what he's doing.

Some sites have an ad-blocker blocker. Wonder how well that works for them? Sseeing I click out of the site if they don't let me access with a blocker ;)
If Dusty did that at Micechat, it would be like committing internet suicide. That would be the end of his site. All he can do is threaten to band people. Since I don't post there, there is nothing he can do.

Those Micechat photo reports would cover the most irrelevant things, although all the other sites are guilty of this as well. I don't want to see 400 photos of a dirt mound or a new bathroom stall in downtown Disney. I know Disney people can be some real weirdos but I think these "photo journalists" are just wrong in their assumptions that people want to actually see this stuff.

The issue is the rate that these articles come out - weekly. There just isn’t enough to talk about. Perhaps if they limited the articles to once a month they wouldn’t have to result to weekly updates on a broken light bulb.

It all comes down to click bait. The more clicks on pointless things they get, the more Disney will see them as real journalists and let them in on free things. It's pathetic.

When I produced a completely disrespected video series, I never pretended to be a journalist. Maybe if I had simulated interest in the crappy Indiana Jones merchandise store that sold rubber snakes being given chairs, Disney would have invited me to special events and I would have had more viewers. Unfortunately I just decided to do it from the perspective of a real person, not someone staring at the Village People on a dirt mound from the parking deck or simulating enjoyment of overpriced bland theme park food when I could have just had Lee's sandwiches.

I think the graphic nudity killed the videos.
