Everyone who posts here is a “Disney adult” in some measure, shape, or form, myself and yourself included.

What’s wrong with what he’s doing?
Grown dude clamoring over oversized Chinese Zootopia benches while literally holding a lollipop and having his feet hanging down. It's like, if this dude was anywhere outside of a Disney Park he'd be a village weirdo. To each their own but this is cringey to me.

I mean. The person tweeting is not the person in the photo. The person is tweeting that they like the benches, and used the photos they found.

Person in the photo is a cast member, posing on the new props, with one of the popsicles for sale.

The CM is literally posing like a toddler. I'm all for people not losing touch with their inner child but like at some point its just way too much.

You’re also grown, chatting with others about Disney, something you love, and judging others who happen to be having a good time at Disney Parks.

You are a Disney adult, and a judgey one, at that.

Rightfully so.
I think a big turn happened around 2020 with social media and Disney.

When I got a pass in 2015 and told coworkers they all thought it was weird of me to go to Disneyland and not have any children. I am glad this stigma has changed but now the whole notion of crazed "Disney Adults" that are obsessed with every product from the company is a thing. Grown ups filming videos of all the MUST TRY AMAZING Halloween Churros!

I'm all for people enjoying the parks how they want to. If this imagineer wants to dress like a Toddler that's fine and their choice, but then this is all just broadcast out there online shamelessly and it sort of makes me feel like this is a group I'm not really wanting to be associated with.

Basically I have to be a closeted Disney adult because I'm not as into it as these people but im also not separated from a park obsession like the general public.

All of that is on you, that’s a you problem. Not his. Not ours. Not anyone else, but you.

If you feel like you have to be “closeted” or can only act a certain way, because of those around you… I am sorry you feel trapped in that, or embarrassed. But you can’t police people because of your own judgemental biases. Especially if they are causing absolutely no harm.

And I should note, there are people out there in any fandom that act super EXTRA, and it’s sometimes really not for me, not my scene, not how I act… but I could care less, they are happy living that way, I am happy living my way, and we all enjoy the thing we are fans of, coexisting peacefully.

But in all honesty, this guy is acting normal in the photos, and does not come across as a cringey fan doing cringey things. And even if he did… who cares?

All very good points. It comes across as cringey to me but everyone's perception is different.

You are right though every fandom has those types of extra people as you mentioned. Not looking to police anyone. I can find something cringey on an internet message board but doesn't mean I'm going to tell a person what they can or can't do.

If they want to be a grown up with a lollipop on a bench dangling their feet it is their right, even if I disagree with that choice.

There are folks out there who will always find it very strange and even suspicious of grown adults willingly going to Disney parks without children. You spend your time talking about Disney things on a Disney forum and discuss things that only Disney fans care about. And you consume the products. You’re arguably just as obsessed.

I think we should let people be, as long as they’re not bringing harm to others. If you don’t want to associate yourself with people who take harmless photos on benches at Disney parks, don’t.

If you like Disney, you like Disney. A “closeted” Disney fan? It shouldn’t be that serious. I don’t think you should care what others think about the things you’re into, unless those things are cause for legitimate concern for the safety of others. I think Disney fans who enjoy the brand and have fun who judge other Disney fans for doing the same thing in their own, harmless way is hypocritical.

Anyways, I hope you have a nice evening!

He’s not holding a lollipop. He’s holding a pawpsicle which is part of the plot of Zootopia. It’s like saying it’s cringe for somebody to hold a wand in one of the Wizarding World lands.

I remember in the early 00s as a kid finding the decked out from head to toe pin trader adults cringey. Later on I found the Disney social club people cringey with their gang vests at a family park and all.

With a fandom as big as Disney I'm sure we all have certain types we'd rather not be grouped together with or associate with, and that probably also applies to any fandom.

It's nothing serious, I just find it cringey and don't identify with it. Nothing threatening or dangerous about a guy dressing like a toddler, they can do what they want.

I hope you have a nice evening too.

This is why no one likes Disney adults.

I hate Disney adults as much as the next person, but this guy seems pretty normal compared to most.

My bigger problem is that Disney continues to invest in the Chinese parks despite their horrific human rights violations. Disney never should have opened a park in Shanghai and I look forward to the day when it is shut down.

Pretty sure we all hate the Walt Disney Co. here.

I'm admittedly waiting for APs to go back on sale for the wife and I even if I do think the company has seen much better days, we miss having one but it has been almost 4 years.

But I do also acknowledge they are an evil company as is Amazon, Walmart, etc. They are also far gone from their creative roots.

I have also seen american companies invest less in China in the last few years and I think if the decision were to be made today Disney wouldn't be building there (not that they ever should have in the first place).
