Hmm. I can't decide if I think you would love it or loathe it. You'd probably hate it, but there are campy elements you'd appreciate.
There's even a bizzarro world Pixar reference.

As for me, I really enjoyed it, but it would have benefited from some judicious pruning.

No one at the party had seen it, so we were all kind of clueless. But I helped out by identifying Ms. Yeoh as the villainess-mom in Crazy Rich Asians, which was a movie my nephew's wife insisted we all watch last summer and it was a total scream!

I loved that movie, especially after enjoying the fantastic service on Singapore Airlines for years.

It's the fourth highest grossing movie on the list, behind Avatar, Top Gun: Maverick, and Elvis. Fantastic movie that was very much the frontrunner leading into last night after sweeping the awards circuit.

Huh? Are you talking about that Everything Everywhere movie? Because I don't know anyone who has seen it, which makes sense as it only ranked 27th not 4th at the box office. It only made $73 Million in USA box office.

The top 5 movies at the box office released in 2022 are as follows, with Everything Everywhere ranking at #27:

1. Top Gun Maverick = $718 Million (truly a cultural phenomenon!)
2. Black Panther Wakanda = $453 Million
3. Dr. Strange Multiverse = $411 Million
4. Avatar Way of Water = $674 Million
5. Jurassic World Dominion = $376 Million

27. Everything Everywhere = $73 Million

California statewide snowpack totals were updated today after another snowy weekend in the Sierras.

California now has over twice the average snowpack for the end of snow year April 1st date. With still two weeks to go and train of cold storms lined up to hit the mountains the next 10 days.

207% of the April 1st average snowpack! Absolutely incredible!

I just got back from an Oscars party. Everything Everywhere All At Once?

None of us at the party had seen that movie. And yet it won Best Picture. Very odd how that awards machine works nowadays.
I saw it three times in theaters and everyone I run into seems to have seen it as well. Its one of the only films I have purchased a physical copy for in the last four years.

One of my favorite films of all times, and if anything its a testament to the Oscars proving that money made doesn’t equate to being the best. Otherwise Avengers: Endgame would have taken home the award a few years back

Well, that doesn't help the math I just tried to help its case. At $15 bucks per ticket, $73 Million is roughtly 1.3% (One point three percent) of the 335 Million Americans who saw the movie in 2022.

But if you bought three of those tickets instead of only one, it's going to be more like 1.299998% of Americans who saw it. :D

I am more than happy at this point in my life to let the latest dance craze or trendy new recipe pass me by without worry. And if 98.7% of Americans didn't see a movie, and I'm part of that 98.7%, then that makes sense why no one at the party yesterday had seen it either.

I think they mean its the 4th highest grossing worldwide of the list of Best Picture nominees. The point being that there were more than a few people that did actually see it.

Guys, no one saw Everything Everywhere All at Once. Stop lying.

No, that's incorrect. Some people did see it. About 1.3% of Americans saw it, factually speaking.

But that still leaves 98.7% of Americans who did not see it. Which, when you are at an Oscars party of only 13 other people, statistically it's going to be very easy to not have anyone there who had actually seen it.

I'm glad it won! I love that Ms. Yeoh lady, she was an excellent villainess in Crazy Rich Asians! I must also say that it's refreshing to see an actress, or anyone really, of an ahem certain age be recognized for their skills and talents instead of being put out to pasture. 😍

If you're into quirky indy films I think you'll actually enjoy it. Give it a chance, it might surprise you.

Oh! That makes sense now.

He meant of the films nominated for best picture this year, not of all the films that were in American theaters. My mistake! 😬

Looking at that aspect and factual data, the list of Oscar nominees looks like this, from biggest box office to smallest;

Top Gun Maverick = $718 Million
Avatar Way of Water = $671 Million
Elvis = $151 Million
Everything Everywhere... = $73 Million
The Fabelmans = $17 Million
The Banshees of Inisherin = $10 Million
Tar = $6 Million
Women Talking = $5 Million
Triangle of Sadness = $4 Million
All Quiet on the Western Front = $0, No Box Office, Netflix (So... $14 a month?)

I hadn't seen it, very few people did, but I was rooting for that Marcel movie to win Animated Feature. Just because it's a little crab with shoes. 🤣

I've got a family member that curates films like that for us during beach house movie nights. I imagine she's already on it for this July!

I get back at her by forcing her to watch at least one Doris Day film every summer. :cool:

Its not a crab, its a shell with shoes, hence the name of the movie "Marcel The Shell With Shoes On".

I didn't see it either, just FYI.

Oh. What animal am I thinking of? Those little crab things that live in those shells that kids keep in terrariums? Not sand crabs...

Darnit, that's going to bug me now...

Is Crump the guy who was responsible for Mansion's more ghoulish and gruesome aspects?

I'm not a Haunted Mansion expert, but I believe he was. He did the sketches and some of the concepts for the "Museum of the Weird" sets that never made it into the attraction, and some of those were definitely ghoulish and... weird. He was one of the younger Imagineers then, so he probably got the smaller projects but also the more cutting edge or hipper stuff.

He did a lot of Adventureland set design, the old Adventurland Bazaar,, and the Tiki Room's aesthetics and show sets. He designed the Tower of the Four Winds for the Pepsi Pavilion at the World's Fair, but it didn't make it back to Disneyland (probably the right choice to go with the Mary Blair facade instead of the tower to draw people back there).

HERMIT CRABS!

You should have seen how proud I looked just now when I finally remembered what they were called. :rolleyes:

Isn't that Marcel guy a Hermit Crab wearing shoes? Or is it literally just a small empty shell with shoes sticking out and nothing inside?
