"A dangerous TikTok trend that encourages riders on Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout to break the rules in order to increase airtime on the drop tower ride has forced Disneyland to issue a safety warning at Disney California Adventure.

The new warnings posted on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout are due to a recent TikTok trend of improperly securing seatbelts on the attraction, according to Disneyland officials.

Disney California Adventure has recently had multiple incidents of unsafe guest behavior on Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout, according to Disneyland officials.

Guests who don’t follow the safety protocols reminding riders to keep seatbelts securely fastened and tight against the waist will be asked to leave the park, according to Disneyland officials."

Buncha idiots. Yet if one of them dies from their stupidity, everyone would blame Disney.

I used to slouch a bit to get some slack in my belt; so much fun to float up against it even if the landings were hard. I guess I'd better not anymore. Tiktokkers ruin everything.

It makes more sense… I say let’s do it.

A consistent criticism of Disneyland since the '80s when Eisner took over was a shift to 'ride the movies'. While I don't have an issue with Disney using their film IP in the parks, I do agree that recently it's gone a bit far- to the point the parks are simply viewed as brand promotion and not brand of their own.

Completely eliminating the California theme would be a regression for DCA's already weak thematic integrity.

Maybe they should eat a handful of tide pods before trying this. #thintheherd

I'm not going to take park renaming advice from someone who appears to have recently been hired at Disneyland's signage department.
Sam was a Disney artist/DL CM for several years and still does freelance artwork for Disney. He did some of the reusable cup artwork for the WDW 50th. Seems like a good guy based on my interactions with him.

Here's a travel warning for SoCal... first ever in history blizzard warning issued for SoCal mountains! Now that's a snow forecast I could believe, as this unusually cold weather across the entire US West is very impressive and very real. The mountains are going to get dumped on!

Unless you've taken a few driving courses for snow/ice and have a new set of dedicated Snow Tires on your vehicle, do not try to drive through the SoCal mountains and passes on Friday or Saturday! That's a recipe for being stranded and dying of cold in your trapped car.

Of course, the "experts" at the National Weather Service just can't let the blizzard warning for the mountains and passes sit there on its own. They've now moved the snowfall down the coast into San Diego. Four inches of snow at Balboa Park on Friday! Two inches at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club! Three inches at the Del Mar Racetrack! 🤣

Was thinking of heading down to Anaheim this weekend to finally check out Runaway Railway. Is this not a great idea, given the rain/snow/potential flooding?

Don't do it! There will be other weekends. Not that a little rain ever hurt anyone (I've been to Tokyo Disneyland and WDW in heavy torential downpours, in Tokyo fueled by typhoons) and not that Disneyland isn't fun and unusually pretty in the rain.

But the freeways will be a nightmare! And if your travel includes anything above 1,000 feet (the Grapevine, the 15, the Foothill Freeway, even the 10 and the 8, etc.) there is a good chance the freeways will be closed due to heavy snow.

Stay home. Have some soup and hot bread! Even better, make your own soup and/or bread from scratch! Make a hot toddy. Or hot cocoa from scratch is fun too! Wear your sweats and watch a favorite old movie as the rain hits the windows. It's going to be a brutal travel weekend for the entire state.

Friday night is the worst of it for SoCal. But Saturday/Sunday will be very unusually cold and still showery at times.

Are you sure you were never a weatherman? You would do Bob proud.

I say that would be one of their dumbest decisions ever. Disney California Adventure doesn’t imply there’s a California theme, just like Six Flags Over Texas isn’t themed to Texas anymore. It’s just the state it’s in, and why change the name when the park has no theme to replace that with. There’s nothing “cinematic” about DCA… MMRR is a strong example of cinematic and it’s in the other park.

I wish!

My only claim to weather fame, and one of my official lifetime Brushes With Celebrity Greatness, was the two dinner parties I attended in the 2010's in south Orange County where I was seated near Dallas Raines. He was a famous LA TV weatherman, but he actually lives down in Dana Point. A very nice guy, and a very good weatherman.

Speaking of that, I just saw this on YouTube. KTLA has forced a few of their journalism hostesses up into the wilds of LA County to cover the approaching storm. The first lady up in the Grapevine with the puffy white parka and matching knit hat with the faux fur bonbon on the top just kills me. And she says the words "Operation Snowflake!" with absolute seriousness. That woman is a professional, even if there's perhaps a bit of a Love Connection happening on live TV with that tenured CHP Officer she interviews. But then later in the report they go up to Big Bear and that poor woman standing in the 22 degrees with moderate snow just breaks my heart (but also makes me laugh). You can see her contemplate her life choices and chosen career path as she goes through her report, and it's hysterical. 🤣

Also, the two well coiffed anchors back in the studio with their KTLA 5 branded coffee mugs on the glass desk are pitch-perfectly vapid.
"How is it out there in Big Bear? You look great!" I love local TV news!

Bob Iger has been the CEO for 3 months now, and we haven’t seen much change or much vision from him, especially on the parks side. I gotta wonder how long the guy will last before they oust him and bring back Michael Eisner.
He was away from the company for less then a year before he came back. All the films, movies, and rides that have come out were greenlit under his leadership.

I think the company never fully left Iger mode from what we the consumers see. Sounds like his major offenses were changing up how budgeting/departments work in the company and doing sketchy things to hide Disney+'s bad numbers.

Everything we now can see and touch in the Parks was greenlit under Iger. Nothing has changed. Nothing will change.

Bob Iger is 72. His contract goes until his 74th birthday. The real challenge he faces is finding, and then hiring, his successor.

Someone at least under the age of 60 would be nice. Maybe even someone under 50? I'm tired of old people running everything! This is a company that sells its product of youth and vigor to the young and vigorous. Get someone young(ish) to run it!
