Oh no no no, Panda Express is good! Just not the one over there haha. But I’ll take their sub par Orange Chicken over the bangers and mash I keep ordering at 3 Broomsticks for whatever reason.

I hope so. My son is looking forward to that restaurant as much as the ride. Hopefully they don’t dumb down the menu and yes USH definitely does. I was just wondering if I was missing anything decent on the upper lot where it seems the majority of eateries are.
There was (is) a spot of Lincoln in Anaheim called China Wall- back when I was down there I'd go multiple times a week. They gave you a HUGE thing of food for like $6.50. I got to know the owner pretty well also, so I'd usually get an extra large serving. It wasn't necessarily high quality but it did the trick and was super cheap.

It's my understanding they sold early 2020- the restaurant still exists but under new management. It's sad the era has come to an end, but I'm also thrilled they sold before covid. I've heard they still have a location elsewhere in Anaheim, but I haven't made an effort to go visit.

True but at this point Im really just waiting on 85 year old Baxter who gives no F’s and tells it like it is. Like Rolly Crump. I’d love to hear what he really thinks of the Splash redo

Splash is mentioned in passing a few times but the redo never comes up. Genie + is mentioned also, but he kinda dodges it. One of the interviewers mentions her disdain for how the park is operated and Tony deflects and gives very diplomatic responses.

But then his examples on what works and what doesn't sort of condemn modern Disney- he just doesn't say it outright.

As long as he's not like Bob Gurr when he's 85 and sells out selling tons of autographed stuff, photo ops, etc. I'll be happy- even if he never publicly talks about his thoughts on the last few years.

Lol You know I defended sweet old Bob before and although I’m not mad at him for hustling he’s REALLY milking it now. I mean he now has a second variation of that Matterhorn he signs with more snow.

I bought one of those Matterhorns when it was advertised as a limited release. I was like 'hm this is cool and Disney's never gonna sell a Matterhorn model'. But then that limited release became him selling those dang Matterhorns constantly for the last few years. I get the emails for his merchandise releases and it's like yeesh. But hey if you're a Bob Gurr fan who wouldn't want a tiki mug of his head 🤣

Thinking back Tony mentions Splash in passing a ton in that interview. Like way more than I think he did in the Season Pass stuff- even though it's all offhand comments I don't think it's coincidence

Lol so did I. That’s the only thing I bought from him although I was tempted by the Matterhorn ride vehicle piece that came out after. The Matterhorn piece is nice though and it’s cool to have his signature even if it’s kind of cheapened by how commercialized the whole thing is.

I’ll have to check out that Baxter interview

I am quite bit more fond of Rolly Crumps signature on my imagineering book.

Gotta love how successful that these cheap looking photo-ops are at getting people to see these movies!

Please tell me there’s a chance that crown and water tower get cut ?

And should I give up all hope for Facilier at this point?
Not sure what the problem with the water tower is. The facade needed a new icon since the stump is being removed, the water tower is positioned to be more visible to oncoming guests entering from NoS, and it not only makes sense for the ride but also fits the Rivers of America area at large.

I’m with you on Facilier, though. I’m worried he won’t appear, and I really want him to. :(

It messes with the scale which I guess is the intent. But the bigger problems are that it says “Tiana Foods” and has a giant princess crown on it. That doesn’t fit with the realism of everything else on the banks of the ROA.

If the rumors that Tony actually has a meaningful say in the direction of this project now are true- wouldn't this be his first meaningful project for Disneyland in 10 years?

It's a darn shame this is what they have him working on when his talents could be so much better used than gutting a popular and beloved ride.
It’s his creation. It’s only right that he be involved in updating the ride for future generations to enjoy. Times change. He knows that. Better the retheme happens with his input than without it.

But, yes, he deserves the opportunity to work on further projects for the company. Personally, I would give him free reign to bulldoze Galaxy’s Edge and build Discovery Bay.

I just saw that Shanghai Disneyland has just closed indefinitely, effective immediately. Again. Due to Covid restrictions in Communist China. Because, why not?

Hong Kong Disneyland is still open for now, but it's only open 5 days per week. (Closed Tuesdays and Thursdays, naturally).

The Chinese Communist Party has not allowed most Disney movies to be shown in China lately. They banned Pixar's Lightyear, they banned Marvel's Wakanda Forever, and they banned Walt Disney Animation's Strange World. Likely because they had gay references or characters in them. The Communists also banned Marvel's Thor: Love and Thunder and Dr. Strange earlier this year, for non-gay political reasons. Because... Godless Evil Communism.

Tell me again why Bob Iger invested Billions to get in to the Chinese marketplace and suck up to the CCP?

Because it's not working. 🤔
