Yoooooo, not BOB GURR dancing to “Get Low” by Ying Yang Twins. Does he have black neighbors he’s been spending time with? Or did they put some Hennessy in his drink?

He's gay. We have intrinsic skills. Also, fifty years ago we all used to watch Soul Train on Saturday afternoon to get the latest dances down before we went out that night.

It's probably more of the Soul Train and less of the intrinsic skills, but at least we try. 🤣

He is!? My Gaydar is pretty good but I’ll defer to you on this one. Lol

I know he’s gay lol. I loved the dancing, it’s just the actual song he was dancing to caught me off guard.😂

After 6 months in Florida avoiding WDW and its reservation system, I bought the locals pass last night, made a reservation, and went to Epcot this morning to ride Guardians. And I arrived, on my first visit since 1993, to find their whole app system had gone down and no one could make the 7 AM Guardians reservations!

But the CMs were wonderful and I wound up getting an early morning ride on the new coaster.

It was pretty good, but it’s basically Space Mountain with rotating cars, and I got very motion sick!😄 Very smooth, very comfortable. Good, long coaster ride. The highlight is definitely the big reveal when you launch out into the huge show building’s interior. It’s Space Mtn. on a mind-boggling scale. I was a bit disappointed that the many screens provided a bit too much light; I could clearly see the walls, the tracks, the supports, etc. And I don’t think the storyline really adds anything; everyone’s so busy screaming that no one’s paying a lick of attention to the dialogue or the plot points. 😄

I liked it a lot despite the motion sickness. The scariest part was the long, steep set of exit stairs; who is the genius who thought that was a good design move?

And the queue music was wonderful. The whole queue was terrific, but I don’t know how well the lengthy, jokey preshow is going to hold up for repeat rides.

And, as others have said: Excellent ride—Doesn’t belong in Epcot.

And I think DL’s Space Mtn. is still the best ride of this type.

Here's hoping that building two state of the art pseudo-Space Mountains in two years will finally encourage them to finally give the OG version some proper TLC and sprucing up.

NOTE TO ANYONE FROM WDI READING THIS: "Sprucing Up" =/= Hyperspace, it means an actual honest-to-goodness proper rebuild/refurb that you can 100% afford. No more excuses.

Absolutely! And it certainly feels a bit weird that WDW will soon have FOUR coasters that zip around banked turns in big dark show buildings full of lighting effects. I bet nearly everyone who rides Guardians for the first time thinks—as they launch out into the big show building and see that familiar Space-Mountainish starfield—“Oh! We’re doing THAT again!” :D

And it's not even just WDW. Paris has had three for more than a decade.

There has to be something between Expedition Everest and a box. Some more variety they can try, new directions they could go. Heck, build a Taron-like environment.

I'm ready for something new that doesn't make excuses for being variations on a theme or otherwise make me cringe.

I don’t understand what Cosmic Rewind does that couldn’t have even achieved by dropping a Rockin’ Tug in a movie theater with a disco ball.
Ok, to be fair… It is a lot more exhilarating than a rocking tug.😃 Though I found the ride effects very familiar-looking, the coaster has a pretty great, well-paced layout. While it doesn’t feel like you’re in space, it does convey a fun sensation of high-speed flight.

Space Mountain should absolutely be refurbished under two conditions:
1. The layout remain the same, but it's smoother

2. They leave the music alone, keep the star tunnel and Promising Tomorrow entrance music.

Another note about my brief first-time-since-1993 Epcot run: While I didn’t do World Showcase yesterday, I did venture far enough to see the Eyesore Barges for myself. Holy crap.

It’s like the visual punch line in a sitcom episode about theme park designers… in a new season of Black Adder.

Terrible. Is the consensus that they will be removed or will they keep the infrastructure for the next show?

I imagine they're gone. Reportedly the main reason Harmonius is going has little to do with the actual quality of the show and is more because top execs, up to and including Chapek, were mad at just how bad the barges look during the day.

And this was a surprise how? Is this the level of ineptitude we re dealing with? Weren’t they supposed to go down during the day?

Shame; I feel like that should have been among the first hurdles to address once it had been decided what sort of ride they were building.

Agreed.

Tokyo Disneyland has an identical copy of Anaheim's Space Mountain, with the exception that Tokyo's sits a bit higher due to the inability to dig down into the sandy Anaheim soil. But once you get into the building, Tokyo's appears to be an identical 1982 copy of Anaheim's 1977 version. Queue, loading station, track layout, coaster cars, effects (better maintained in Tokyo), etc. all appear identical.

And this is what they've announced WDI is doing with Tokyo's version, so clearly there are plans and an ability to redo these 45 year old coasters in Anaheim and Tokyo...

Oh my Gawd. I'm obviously out of the loop, I had no idea it was that bad out there.

And this is for their 50th show at Epcot Center? They wanted to make World Showcase look like a post-apocalyptic floating junk yard to celebrate the 50th????

Okay... but... did no one above a Dockers-clad assistant manager not know this was how that show was going to look like during park operating hours? Was no one of any importance paying attention in the meetings, or were the show designers and Entertainment Department executives purposely lying and hiding what their project would actually look like for paying customers just so they could get it approved and funded (meaning salaries for themselves)???

And this was a surprise how? Is this the level of ineptitude we're dealing with?

Exactly.

How was this major project a surprise to WDW's Execs and/or the Burbank Execs they report to??? 🤔

There are only three possible answers to that question:

1.) No executive leader bothered to ask what the show equipment would look like during the day, or knows enough about Disney's theme park standards (obviously now abandoned) to ask. Result: Execs = Idiots.

2.)
Executive leaders knew in advance it would look like this, but they thought this was not a problem for their "product". The tourists from Ohio are too stupid to care, aren't they? Result: Execs = Idiots.

3.)
The executive leaders in the Entertainment Department who wanted this big project to get approved (to keep them employed and paying the mortgage on their cheesy Lake Nona McMansion) purposely hid and/or lied about how ugly this show infrastructure would look. Result: Execs = Idiots.

The most terrifying scenario is that it was an ongoing combination of two or all three of those answers. Which means the executive incompetence is so bad and so pervasive that it may be irreversible at this point. WDW may be past the point of no return with this level of incompetence and cluelessness.
