Apparently they ve ripped out the lawn in front of the Haunted Mansion. Here comes the astroturf! Yay 😕

How long until all the flowers make way for drought tolerant succulents?

Do we think this is temporary until we’re out of the drought? Personally I think they re using the drought as an excuse to cut down on maintenance costs. Any grass being replaced may be gone for good.
Magic Kingdom has been using Astro Turf in the Hub for many years now, and it looks good. I honestly forget that the grass isn't real, and makes for a nice place to sit and relax for a bit (if it isn't blazing hot or pouring down rain)

I’m going to assume this has to do with drought, since Californians are currently forbidden from watering their lawns for more than 15 minutes for only like two days a week. There’s no way the state would allow Disneyland to keep up their regular watering of plants and grass.

You could be right but it’s hard for me to see them reverting back to real grass. We re in a drought more than we’re not in a drought and they’ll probably enjoy the savings in maintenance.

Time will definitely tell. I can’t see this being the case forever, but I could be wrong.

If folks are bothered enough by the fake horticulture, I sincerely encourage them to file a complaint at City Hall.
I’m talking about the colorful flowers being replaced in highly visible/ important areas of the park. I don’t mind for example the succulents you see on the tram path.
Okay. Because you said you had no interest wandering around a Disneyland with succulents, so I was just saying that they’re already found all around the resort, including in the parks.

It’s funny you say that. I was actually considering going to City Hall on this one and I’ve never once felt inclined to do so for anything else.

Just a blog post saying this is all temporary for the drought would go a long way.

I’m filing my complaint by not giving them my business.

On the bright side, at least it’s just Haunted Mansion Holiday getting the brunt of it; the whole exterior is going to look tacky for the next several months anyway.

Hahah I was thinking this. It actually somehow works for HMH.

This is actually Monsanto’s exit displays on Adventure Thru Inner Space coming true; those 1960’s visionaries would be so proud of this! 😃

Absolutely. It wouldn’t hurt. Whether Disney will listen or not is one thing, but at least you’d be letting them know how you feel. Why not?

Can’t disagree with this. I loved HMH as a kid, but now I’m over it. I’m going in October, so that’ll be the version I’ll ride. I’m not paying for my ticket, though, so it’s fine.

Why does there need to be a lawn there anyway? No one is walking on that area. Couldn't it be filled with ivy or more trees?

It's bad enough Toon Town will look like a soccer field just so they can offer more queue space.

I had suggested some drought tolerant options a couple weeks ago.

They could have planted clover, it would look lovely, and drought tolerant!
