the designs on the cups and plates are DARLING.

yeah, IDK about that teapot.....
I would have loved it without the giant smiling cat face. A simple pearl color with pink trim would have been perfect.

I don’t want to open my cupboard and have that face staring back at me. However, I agree that the rest is gorgeous. I would have begged my mom to buy me this as a kid.

Interesting, even-handed WSJ article on post-pandemic changes at the parks. Most interesting to me was Disney's labeling of APs and other hardcore park fans "legacy fans".

Apparently they ve ripped out the lawn in front of the Haunted Mansion. Here comes the astroturf! Yay 😕

How long until all the flowers make way for drought tolerant succulents?

Do we think this is temporary until we’re out of the drought? Personally I think they re using the drought as an excuse to cut down on maintenance costs. Any grass being replaced may be gone for good.

i agree nighttime shows make the main street core of the park a nightmare, but everywhere else in the park is much sparser because of it, so its a fair tradeoff imo
Perhaps that's true at Magic Kingdom where there's one thing going on at night, but when fireworks AND Fantasmic AND a night parade are going on in close proximity in one park there's almost nowhere to go to get away from people. Pretty much every land that isn't actively showing one of those events becomes a place where people trying to get around the park are wedged into just so they can move.

Galaxy's Edge is the only place that's not madness from at least 8-10 each night when they're doing 3 nighttime things in one park.

It would help everything if they would find a way to make PTN work at DCA in concert with WOC. No more "but DCA logistics!!111" excuses on their part, they have the money and like to believe they're the top people in the business. So they could prove it by figuring out a way to make PTN and WOC coexist on the same night and easing the burden for everyone (and DL Park itself).

That looks awful. I'm ok with the artificial grass in small planters, as it will likely go unnoticed. This, however.... Miniature golf, indeed.

And @mickEblu , I agree with you. Cost cutting, for sure. :/

We complain about a lot of stuff here and much of it doesn’t really impact your time at the park. If this continues around the park and is not temporary I can it absolutely see it being a deal breaker for me. My love for greenery and Disney landscaping is well documented. Seeing bright green AstroTurf on a sizeable lawn in front of the Mansion is jarring and for myself at least makes it that much Harder to suspend disbelief. It just takes you right out of the world they re trying to build up.

Now maybe I’ll get used to this like I have so many other things but I have no interest in wandering around a Disneyland full of astroturf and succulents. For me the idyllic landscaping is a big part of the escape.

But it’s pretty clear Disney cares about the environment which is why they stopped selling the millions of plastic toys from China…. Oh wait. Well hey at least they re saving the world with 20 square feet of AstroTurf.

I’m going to assume this has to do with drought, since Californians are currently forbidden from watering their lawns for more than 15 minutes for only like two days a week. There’s no way the state would allow Disneyland to keep up their regular watering of plants and grass.

Succulents I’m ok with. It’s certainly a better choice than making HM’s first impression look like a putting game in Chapek’s office. The sheer laziness and lack of care involved in a major landscaping decision like this is just another reason why I am no longer giving Disney parks any of my money.

I’m sure. But anyone on this forum could come up with a better solution with one trip to Home Depot.
