As you stated, very typical Uncle Tom behavior. It really makes a lot of sense as to why he’s loved by white people. He gives “N” word passes out and isn’t afraid to mock black people in front of said white people. What a guy! I can’t stand him. But of course, many people are flocking to his defense. Whatever.

One thing I will agree with others here… The Academy is trash.

You think Chris Rock is/was more loved by White people than Will Smith? I’m pretty sure this is false. Will has always been a way bigger star. Will is more Hollywood. Will is more global. This makes no sense. Personally I’ve always been a way bigger fan of Will Smith. Not that I’ve ever compared the two but I just mean now in hindsight comparing their careers and movies, shows, music etc that I’ve enjoyed. I mean it’s not even close. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were people around the world wondering who that guy on TV was that Will Smith slapped.

Also nearly every Black comedian I’ve seen speak up is backing Chris Rock. So I guess their all Uncle Toms too?

Sorry but you are way off here.

I didn’t insinuate that Chris Rock is more loved by white people than Will Smith.

Not surprised to hear about other black comedians backing Chris Rock. Black Twitter, on the other hand, is roasting him.

I’m not way off, but you’re welcome to your opinion. Oh, and yes, some black comedians are Uncle Toms. Some black people in general are Uncle Toms, or display Uncle Tom behavior.

“…why he’s loved by White people” in this context would insinuate that of the two actors you believe he’s more loved by White people.

Uncle Toms like comedian George Wallace who wants Chris Rock to sue Will Smith?

Twitter huh? Well I’m sure then that it’s full of non biased, level headed and just well formed opinions. 😳.

It doesn’t. Just because I said he’s loved by white people, they doesn’t automatically exclude them from loving Will Smith. But there’s a reason why Chris Rock has gotten multiple invitations to crack jokes at the Oscars.

Don’t know who George Wallace is, besides the former governor of Alabama, but good for him.

No less biased, level-headed, and well-formed here. Twitter can be an absolute cesspool, but I trust the conversations on this topic happening over there way more than here, due to the sheer amount of important points being brought up, including ones related to the black community. Meanwhile, I’m the only black voice here and it’s nearly completely one-sided here. So…yeah.

So why are you making this a Black/White thing if the person being defended is the lesser beloved actor by White people?

Thank you. I'm trying to follow along with the logic here, but it's escaping me. And I'm already on my second cup of coffee. 🤔

This is where I'm at with the main players here, and all of them are Black folks so I can't figure out how that changes anything with the racial dynamic here. In my opinion, there is no racial dynamic here, but I know some people today desperately want to view every slap, or traffic fender bender, or store credit instead of full refund at customer service through the lens of race.

But what am I missing with these facts of the main players?...

Will Smith: Beloved (formerly) actor who was in many blockbusters in the 1990's and 2000's. Top elite.
Chris Rock: Comedian who was on SNL for several years in 1990's. Lower level elite.
Jada Smith: Actress, but not quite as successful long-term as her husband. Top elite by marriage.
Mr. Parker: Oscars telecast Producer handling sudden onstage violence and bizarreness. Backstage elite.

Why the heck are you even bringing this up? Maybe he’s “lesser beloved by white people” because he’s just less popular than Will in general, I mean Will is an actor, of course he’s going to be more known than Chris. Your counters don’t make sense and you completely just turned a blind eye to the N word situation from your very first response.

I’m not making it that. The context and clues are already there. I’m not making anything.

Why did you bring up the Black/White thing in regards to this topic?

I’m assuming you re talking about a post from a couple days ago and not me responding to your comment now? If so, becasue I think the dynamics of this whole thing are fascinating because not only are they both Black/ same race but also Will is the bigger Star. If Will was White, the conversation would be much more narrow and just be about race.

You and I both know if Will was White he would have been escorted out. And that’s a problem. People need to be treated the same way. That’s what equality is all about. If he was White he would have been escorted out because the Academy would not have dared to not take the opportunity to virtue signal. They would have been so scared of the 2022 social media backlash that White Will Smith would have been escorted out by the next commercial break. There is not a doubt in my mind.

I’m guessing it’s because their evil Whiteness came out as soon as Chris made that joke about Jada they immediately put their 30 + years of feelings towards Will aside and sided with Chris because he was making fun of a Black womans hair. It was the Whitest thing to do in that moment.

I guess. But the mental gymnastics it takes to get there is just exhausting.

Seriously, it was a jerk slapping a comedian onstage for making a joke about the jerk's wifes hairdo.

There's not much more to it than that, other than the fact that all involved were wealthy and privileged people and it was all broadcast live on national television.

Jerk is now being disciplined & condemned, comedian is being praised for his measured response to jerk.

End of story. But so bizarre because it happened at the Oscars on live TV! o_O

So we both think race is in play here, albeit for different reasons. Just making sure, as I’m confused why I’m being called out for calling race into it, especially when I wasn’t the first to do so.

THANK YOU. Totally dismissed that, but to no surprise.

Not trying to be rude at all when I say this but I think how I brought up Race is logical and supports the point I was trying to make. What you said seems illogical and actually weakens the overall point you are trying to make or at least is confusing me to the point where I don’t know what you are trying to say.

I’m not surprised that you don’t understand what I’m saying.
