Thanks! We did. Hope you had a great time as well. Haha maybe we did. Even with Genie + we ve reached a point where only 1-2 attractions on a given day are Must Dos and we kind of just let the day come to us. For example yesterday we just found ourselves hanging out at Snow Whites wishing well for 15 minutes while we fed our daughter a snack and my son looked at the ducks. We find ourselves taking numerous breaks like that and still always find that we get on 8-12 attractions. With or without Genie +.

Oh I didn’t realize you could grab LLs for Genie + rides if someone cancels at a specific time. I thought if the window was gone it’s gone. Good to know.

Yeah Genie + is terrible at DCA and yet necessary if you re not starting your day there or didn’t Rope Drop. We spent most of our day at Disneyland and just went to DCA at night to ride Incredicoaster, MICKEYs Fun Wheel and Gaurdians. Man, I’ve been sleeping on sitting on the back of Incredicoaster. We usually ask for the front row but we were pressed for time so I just sat where we were assigned- row 11. Definitely faster and felt it a couple times in my stomach. The front still has its perks but I think the back is more thrilling. Either way, It really is a great coaster, especially at night.

Also any tips and not tensing up on that first drop after the initial shot up on Guardians? It didn’t used to happen but now I start spazzing out like I’m about to have convulsions. I think it’s mental but I’m not sure. Lol.
We've gotten to that point too; I think it's a symptom of having gone to the parks too frequently now, but I do admit it's been much kinder to my feet knowing I don't care enough to zip around the park anymore. We stop a lot for breaks and the occasional photo. We hardly ever stay late in the parks anymore (though we do plan on seeing MSEP when it comes back, so we'll probably have a late start that day).

Yes; definitely keep checking the tip board when you have Genie+, stuff opens up more often than you'd think.

Incredicoaster is definitely more thrilling in the last few rows - I love the feeling in the cookie tunnel because by the time the train starts to drop due to gravity, it actually lassos the last car or two up and over that hill which is pretty intense.

No ideas on the Guardians drop, unfortunately. I don't know if I'm making it up in my head but I think the drops feel more intense in the front row compared to the back row — something to do with the parallax you experience when looking into the show scenes.

My first trip to Disneyland was in October of 1978 for my 4th birthday. Perhaps I encountered @Parteecia when my family was getting a meal in Frontierland. That's a fun thought.

Wait... I'll follow the advice of @TP2000's friend, and fix that story. When I was 4 I had trouble reaching my burrito from the counter at Casa de Fritos. There was a very nice lady that helped me. We had a nice chat about whatever 4-year-olds chat about, and I'm quite certain she was the chef (even if they wouldn't let her wear the chef's hat). :D
I will 100% vouch for any story you tell.

We would actually try for a little slack in the belt (shh) and did our best to ride it loose & limp like a rag doll for maximum effect. Fun to watch your arms float up and drop down and feel it in your seat.

Don't even get me started. I keep referring to Tokyo Disneyland, which still maintains the old standards from the 1980's. The compare/contrast between front line CM's in Tokyo and front line CM's in Anaheim today is depressing. I'll leave it at that. :(

It's a problem. It seems to be rooted in endless bureacracy and red tape that an army of TDA cubicle drones have in their best interest to keep going. What's most troubling is that many of those TDA cubicle drones for the past two years have been "working" from home, part of the elitist Pajama Set that spent the pandemic at home in their pajama's on a laptop, occasionally logging in to a Zoom call with Merlot in their coffee mug.

Meanwhile, the real front line staff continued to do their real labor.

But back to the CM's... Out in Florida they just debuted a lavish new Star Wars hotel. And the CM's staffing it are all wearing the same frumpy and lumpy cheap blue outfit with orthopedic plastic shoes, whether they are a front desk clerk, or a waiter, or a bingo number caller. (Yes, there is apparently Bingo in space.) It's not a good look. It certainly doesn't say luxury or elegance, much less does it say Star Wars.

Wait did this thing open? I thought it wasn't opening till summer.

Looks like a 1970s variety show outfit.

Do you think 200 lightning lane to 1 stand by will be the new normal for all new rides? Basically standby will be non existent thanks to $20 up charge per ride.

It officially opens tomorrow. There are some fun elements, or cute uses of new technology involved. But on the whole it's very underwhelming. And cringey. And kind of dumb.

And the uniforms they've give the poor CM's to wear look like frumpy and cheap dental hygienist outfits.

1.Try not to sit under the hole in the back corner overhead screen. One less thing to obsess about: that if your seatbelt fails, you'll drift up and be stopped by the roof, instead of drifting out of the hole to fall to your death.:)
2.Hang on tight to the seat arms.
3.Yell 'whooooaaaa'. It will release some of the tension.

lol I think # 3 might actually work for me. Thank you. I’m not really worried about dying on the ride nor am I scared of the motion. My body just seems to be having a physical reaction to that part and now I think it might be mental as I’m anticipating it. I don’t think it used to happen to me pre pandemic closure.

That's so weird. I pop in that thread but was busy last week and had no idea it was opening so soon.

It is abolutely cringey. The dance lessons were just... wow. I don't blame the CM but they are clearly not a trained dancer. It was just corny like preschool choreography for a show.

Love the dental hygenist comparison.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but it appears that they have finally refurbed those grimy BLAB ride vehicles. I immediately noticed that they looked cleaner like a darker shade of green. Or maybe I just have been on in a while?

I haven’t been to the parks since January 2020, and before that, I maybe have went maybe two or three times in 2019. These vehicles are definitely greener.

As an avid iPhone user, I was so proud to see Apple cancel all shipments and sales of their entire product lines in Russia. I was also thrilled to see this today.

But Russia is a very small market for Disney (or anyone really). So I have to wonder what Burbank's strategy will be if/when Communist China invades Taiwan?

No doubt it will not be a similar action on the part of Disney , the day will come in the not too distant future. Free Genie+ for Xi to stop the invasion ?

I just checked and the only real footprint Disney had in Russia is a few Disney Stores they opened in the 2010's. But like most Disney Stores, they seem to have closed the ones they had in Moscow and Leningrad in 2021 due to Covid.

Disney's only real presence in Russia is via media like movies, cartoons, streamed Disney Channel via Apps, etc.

Needless to say, Disney's footprint in Communist China is massive. And to take a similar response when the Communists invade Taiwan is going to hurt. I already sold my Disney stock, by the way, and have no intention of buying it again. ;)

Good for you, and yes a huge footprint indeed. China may end up nationalizing all American assets if we threw those kind of sanctions on them as we did Russia - rebranding the 2 parks to Xi-Land is a distinct possibility lol

Is it wrong to miss Disneyland the weeks and months after 9/11? The day after 9/11 the park was so empty and quiet. It felt weird.

2002 was the one year my family had annual passes. I remember ours was about 100 dollars a person (had blockouts but still).

The parks were dead. I actually really fondly look back at the period from 2001-2006.

It seemed like the parks were always so empty during this time (besides when my family made the mistake of going for our annual visit on Dec 26 one year).
