Oh Lin, please don't say The Little Mermaid ride...
I presume he was referencing The Little Mermaid ride only because it is so music focused. Hopefully all other aspects of this potential attraction would be improved, seeing as it is being championed by someone the company wants to keep on good terms.

I’ve had gay ads pop up in the past too. Even bras once and I would have no reason for either of those things to pop up based on my search history. I’m guessing they just think if you re a Disney Parks fan chatting online - you re Gay.
Good thing we still have the Brer Bruhs. Right? Right?

An Encanto ride using the Mystic Manor tech would be pretty cool.

There’s a lot of potential there especially when you consider the different worlds inside the bedrooms like Antonio’s, Bruno’s Tower and some of the rooms we didn’t even see. Although I’m not sure I’d want it to be a Trackless ride. Still I think Coco should get a ride before Encanto.

Encanto doesn't really need to be trackless as long as it creates the worlds in front of me. Too bad it didn't make enough money to warrant a ride. However, a Coco boat ride would be incredible for the Mexico pavilion. I'm not sure where it would go in DCA.

It would go in Pixar Pier. They say there is an expansion pad back there somewhere.

I think these two and whatever E ticket they re going to eventually add to Avengers Campus would make DCA a legitimate full day park.
I truly hope that after Runaway Railway opens they'll go back to basically ignoring Disneyland and instead work on actually give DCA more things to do without replacing or overlaying anything.

At least for a little while. Even Tomorrowland seems sterling compared to DCA IMO.

Just a hunch, but I suspect that after MMRR they'll start on whatever DisneylandForward is.

Does Disney have any movies now with openly gay characters on TV? Last I checked Disney has Josh gad dance with a man for 1/3rd of a second.

Disney is making products to sell in China, meaning no openly gay characters.
Sorry I missed this, sorry to dig this up, but just to clarify, I was specifically thinking of the gay couple in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (what a bizarre name) that dance and kiss on screen. The trilogy and show feel very catered to American audiences and there’s a separate movie for China, I wonder if they’d even enjoy the originals. You’re right that there’s still very few openly gay characters. While I’m here, imma throw in the word some more for your ads: gay. Gay gay. Gay.

Also I get the most irrelevant ads. The dangling bras is a classic.

Good point.

I honestly don't care who plays characters representing the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community, so long as they do the role justice and become that character for paying audiences. Which is, I guess, what a good actor does. I think the first important step would be for all the closeted gay actors in Hollywood playing straight characters to stop pretending, but that would also require the studios to commit to still employing them for straight roles if it's a good fit.

It's kind of a messy topic, like much social change is, and it always takes decades to play out. But the Social Media crowd thinks Disney is blazing some new trail in the 2020's, when they actually did this the first time 30 years ago.
Very good points and I'm a straight man so have no horse in this race. To me it's just so odd to see social media freaking out over these very slight gay moments when Disney had outwardly gay characters in a mainstream television show 30 years ago, yet that is overlooked.

Somehow a straight man saying in a "Jungle Cruise movie" that he "has other interests he pursues" in the year 2021 is supposed to be a gay milestone? I don't get it, if anything Disney doesnt actually care for gay representation as they don't have any major characters that are gay (despite having had one as the star of a network tv show in 1996).

I can also attribute the same to all the supposed clamor for the recent latin representation in Disney films.

Has no one seen The Theee Cabillaros or Saludos Amigos? Walt Disney and his animators went to South America for MONTHS in the 1940s and met with all kinds of cultural representatives to make these movies authentic and portray latin American culture.

There is a wonderful documentary about this called Walt and El Grupo (which also is the only way to see the uncensored Saludos Amigos Feature Film as a bonus feature).

There's many great scenes in there, including a scene where Walt has a cultural professor at a local university and his students teach him traditional dances, and Walt joins in and dances with the students as well.

It's great to see Disney make films of all cultures even in today's day and age, and I hope it continues, so many interesting cultures in the world. But don't pretend it's a first or that Disney representation is a brand new concept that wasn't done 80 years ago.

I've watched that whole series, both seasons (don't judge me please I needed a guilty pleasure to look forward to during the initial lockdown) and that whole show was accurate with modern high school depictions of drama kids. The show does prominently display a gay relationship but I mean it's not the main characters / couple of the show but Disney acts like they've done something amazing with them. If Disney truly cared and wasn't just virtue signaling they would have LGBTQ+ couples in movies / shows, including main characters, and then not toot their own horn after. Just make shows with LGBTQ+ characters and don't draw attention to it, just treat them with respect and don't preach how you're so brave for having a gay couple on screen. Studios / independents have done it for years, as mentioned earlier, without praising themselves endlessly.
