Uh, yeah, he is. Incredible how so many people believe it's just a coincidence that after he posted his idea for a retheme of Splash Mountain based on a film that Disney initially brushed off as a flop and ignored for years on Twitter, sparking a petition that for whatever reason gained a lot of media coverage, Disney announced the EXACT SAME THING. Unless Disney orchestrated the petitions, I'm calling bullcrap on their claim that they'd had this idea since 2019.
Sorry, but I suggested/predicted on this very forum in May of 2018 that Splash Mtn. would be rethemed because of its origin material. And in April of 2019, I said it would make sense if it became The Princess and the Frog, because the story & music fit Splash’s track layout.

And I know that if a simple, unpaid fan like myself (and, I’m sure hundreds of others) could foresee the social media disaster Disney was headed for once Twitter realized Splash Mtn was Song of the South: The Ride, and if I could easily realize Princess and the Frog was a logical solution, then I am 100% sure that Imagineers and Execs at Disney who *are* paid (a lot) to worry about this stuff had the same idea long, long ago. Lonnnnng ago. They were just waiting for the right time when announcing it would score them good-guy points. And the moment happened.

And I do believe that Disney, right now, has a whole list of future changes to classic rides to be rolled out over the next ten years, shifting in priority according to social media trends.

I may be in the minority here but i think the retheme for splash mountain looks great. I love the movie and it fits will in DL, not so much DMK though. The way the boat is stuck in the tree in the renders looks neat and will probably look great at night all lit up

Funny how everyone who thinks Disney announcing the same thing that Frederick Chambers came up with is "just a coincidence" also just so happens to support the Splash Mountain retheme. I'm guessing THAT'S a coincidence too, huh?
Well, heck if that’s all it takes, let me see if I can influence the millionaire execs and designers at Disney right here and now, and then you can blame me later:

Hey, Disney! Dumbo has to go! I’m thinkin flying Spirit Animals from Coco! Eh? Eh? And Casey Jr. is from Dumbo, so why not change all of Storybook Land into The Land of the Dead!

Peter Pan’s problematic! I say...I dunno, how about a flying Last Dragon ride?

Said it before, I’ll say it again now: Turn Toontown into Zootopia!

Matterhorn should be Frozen, but you already know that.

And regarding Alice: You have to digitally alter the movie AND change the ride so the caterpillar is blowing bubbles.

Okay.

You know, I wish I was merely kidding, but Snow White’s Not-Scary Enchanted Bubblewrap Merchandisable Wish is a reality. Nothing Disney does surprises me anymore.

But, seriously: Splash’s retheme was gonna happen one way or another. The changes to Pirates made that very, very, very clear long ago.
(Edit)
And, yeah I do think Princess and the Frog makes sense at DL and could be wonderful IF done well.

And I really would like to see Zootopia.

No.

Society has gradually been moving in this direction for years now. Disney is no exception.
Since when has society been moving in the direction of The Princess and the Frog was the best Disney movie ever and deserved a ride?

You want Peter Pan's Flight to become a Raya and the Last Dragon ride? Start a petition for those to happen and hope it'll get as much media coverage as the Splash Mountain petition did. Maybe threaten to boycott Disney Plus too while you're at it.

PatF isn’t the best Disney movie ever, but its story and music fit Splash’s layout so well it’s kinda uncanny. And PatF is a LOT better, and much more loved by today’s younger generations, than Song of the South.

And I’m going to boycott Disney plus for being LAME right after I watch all tbe original Muppet Show episodes in Feb. :D

You know the bigger picture I’m referring to.

If anyone’s been paying even a little attention to the changes in society over the past 5-10 years, these decisions should really come as no surprise.

I don't know why Disney was so disappointed by PATF failing, or underperforming. Disney's animated movies were long underperforming while Pixar thrived. Nobody saw the chicken movie or the bear movie or the Atlantis movie. So it should've come as no surprise that a Frog Movie would also underperform if not fail. They struck gold with the Mermaid movie and those first few follow-ups, then they trended down consistently.

Disney (and animators worldwide) were disappointed that Princess and the Frog didn’t do better than “okay” because it was looked upon as hand-drawn animation’s last chance at the very studio that represented the entire time line of the art form. The hope was that a return to a classic Princess story might turn things around as had happened before with Cinderella and, later, Little Mermaid.

PatF isn’t a perfect movie, but it’s a lot of fun, visually beautiful and the music’s great. It’s found its audience via home video and cable, and is one of the most popular Disney films (along with Tangled, Mulan and Frozen) of Disney’s current target audience.

For the past six or seven months, I've been consistently thinking about how I would personally handle my own, ideal versions of the classic Fantasyland dark rides, so I often consider how to best implement the classic gimmick of riders assuming the role of the film's main character and serving as an integral part the story. I've written a small guide of sorts detailing my preferred point-of-view mode for each of the five traditional Fantasyland dark rides:

Snow White: In the oldest iterations of the Snow White ride, guests were supposedly made to occupy the role of the titular heroine, despite the fact that it doesn't exactly make sense for Snow White herself to be visiting a lot of the iconic locations from the film such as the Queen's dungeon or Dwarfs' mine. More logically, guests simply play themselves as the Witch pursues them. To avoid confusion, this theoretical variation of the attraction should contain no references to the character of Snow White, and have an appropriate Witch-themed title so as not to be misleading.

Peter Pan: Riders essentially occupy the role of the Darling children, serving as the guests Peter Pan takes to Neverland. Peter himself is seen in the attraction, and holds the distinction of being the only titular protagonist in any of the Fantasyland dark rides who does so. The Darling children shouldn't appear at all, as their inclusion is entirely unnecessary and somewhat of a distraction.

Mr. Toad: Guests directly assume the role of Toad, of course, in an off-beat version of The Wind in the Willows in which he recklessly careens through the countryside and streets of London in his motorcar.

Alice: Guests directly assume the perspective of Alice, as there is basically no scene in the original story that Alice herself is not in. Alice in Wonderland is prime material for translation into a dark ride in that way, as it's really a linear series of vignettes which the main character is present for the entire time, with no side plots to take into account.

Pinocchio: Possibly the most difficult property out of all five to translate into a dark ride. Guests take on the perspective of Pinocchio, but because of this, they logically can't experience certain scenes from the film such as the puppet show or the "real boy" business at the end.

Tomorrow's February and according to the Shut It Downers, things are worse than ever. They also need to vaccinate the majority of the state. It seems highly unlikely this will be cleared up by April. That's only two months away. Disneyland will likely stay closed most of the year, if not the entire year and will reopen with every major attraction ruined by Kim Irvine and only shopping and dining available at 25% capacity.

What Id give to go back in time and experience Disneyland in the 60’s or have a “Date Nite at Disneyland” like these two.

myD23club on Instagram has some great vintage pics of DL.
In the 80's they had a big band at the Carnation Plaza every Saturday night. I think there must have been cheap tickets after 5 (or I wouldn't have gone so many times). I took my girlfriend many Saturdays and we had the BEST time swing dancing!
