Nothing wrong with a grown man having a plushie from his favorite rides before its gone forever for no good reason. my rule is if i see something i want and think "I'll get it another time" I need to buy it now because I will either not buy it and it will sell out and i will miss chance or they will stop making it. and i don't want to pay ebay prices. i planned to get one myself when the parks opened but who knows when that will be now. i wanted the big 3: BR'ER RABBIT, BRE'R FOX AND BR'ER BEAR before Disney acts like these characters never existed the way they do Zipp-ADEE- DOO-DAH now. One of the most iconic and most identifiable songs related to Disney now being treated like it never existed. Damn shame.

Well hopefully they decide to get hypocritical one more time lol. Hell, I don’t want the ride rethemed. Me buying it isn’t hypocritical. Them selling it is. But to be honest, I would just buy one/them on eBay if you find them for the right price. I saw one Brer Bear for like $60. I think they re $30 or $40 at the store. Add the $10 parking fee. Add the gas money depending on how far you live from DTD and you re almost there. Plus your time and the hassle.

I'll bet they would absolutely love to launch a Splash Mountain merchandise avalanche right now to milk the nostalgic faithful and clear stock, but are incredibly frustrated that their posturing on the issue makes that a real problem.

They re all over the place though. They obviously omitted Splash Mountain from various merch over the last few months like the pink Starbucks tumbler and those 65th anni shirts. Maybe their policy was... we’ll sell what we made already but no new Splash Mountain merch.

Splash Mountain doesn't exist. It never did. You're obviously insane. And racist.

If they have any decency they ll keep the name Splash Mountain with no colons and references to Princess Tiana on a thrill ride name. Princess and thrill ride for whatever strange reason don’t jive for me.

Or they could, you know, just keep Splash Mountain the way it is and keep selling those plushies.

I have a feeling its going to be "Splash Mountain: Tiana's Enchanted Wish Tree" or something similar

sorry man. that is going to be their way to "honor" what came before. I am holding out hope the ride is still open when I am able to go and I can get some of those Plushies. if not , i guess ebay it is. but it would be more special and mean more to buy it in the ride's gift shop as i exit the ride.

I don’t think you the far off. I think it’ll be ....

Tiana and Naveen: Race to Mardi Gras....but never mind we have no precedent of them not include the IP name in the land or attraction name so more likely ...

Princess and the Frog: Race to Mardi Gras or maybe Princess and the Frog: River Run to Mardi Gras

Either way, no matter what name they pick. It wont be as charming and simple as "Splash Mountain" Disney can't name rides anymore ala 'WEB SLINGERS: A SPIDER-MAN ADVENTURE"

I'd almost prefer they completely rename the ride to whatever nonsense they want it to be named.

Keep the Splash Mountain name pure.

How hypocritical can Disney be? Yesterday the sold / sold out of a boat load of Brer Rabbit, Bear and Fox plushes at DTD. Was it not a few weeks ago when D’amaro spoke of retheming Splash Mountain to be more inclusive or something like that? Not to mention removing ZADDD from the esplanade music loop. What a joke.

They were selling "We Wants the Redhead" shirts at the exit of Pirates the day the new auction scene debuted. I wish I had taken a photo (I was there that day by complete accident, I didn't realize it was the day the new auction scene was opening).

I wonder if the plushes had already be ordered and weren't put on shelves due to covid/some other reason, but Disney is wanting to sell through the merchandise since they've already paid for it.

But with the tens of thousands unemployed, the park closed for the foreseeable future, and Disney completely re designing their park admission system this whole Splash change announcement seems like a distant memory that's faded into irrelevancy. It's hard to get worked up about Splash when I anticipate the park will be going through far more nuanced changes that impact the park experience in subtle yet significant ways over the next five years.

Wouldn't it be great if the retheme was quietly cancelled and they announced a different Princess and the Frog ride for elsewhere in the park?

I wouldn't call it acceptance... I'm still very much opposed to the change. But I expect Disneyland to operate quite differently from how it used to, so the changes to the park will go beyond just Splash's bastardization.

I know you are. What are you anticipating as far as all the other changes long term when capacity is back to normal?
