Countless people have brought up the fact that the sword from The Sword in the Stone is actually lodged inside an anvil, which is merely on top of the titular stone, but just moments ago I realized that the sword is obviously long enough to penetrate all the way through the anvil and cut deep into the stone. So yes, it is indeed "the sword in the stone".
The anvil goes back about 800 years, and yes, it is long enough that it goes into the stone.

"And whan they com oute of the
cherche, thei sawgh it gan dawe and clere, and saugh before the cherche dore a
grete ston foure square, and ne knewe of what ston it was -- but some seide it
was marble. And above, in the myddill place of this ston, ther stode a styth of iren
that was largely half a fote of height. And thourgh this stithi was a swerde ficchid
into the ston."

The "styth of iren" is an anvil.

Apropos to nothing specifically Disney, but in the general topic of myth interpretation, I've long felt the the "sword in the stone" was a Bronze to Iron Age cultural/technological reference to metal smelting and extracting the "sword" from the "stone" ore.

Just my theory.

How hypocritical can Disney be? Yesterday the sold / sold out of a boat load of Brer Rabbit, Bear and Fox plushes at DTD. Was it not a few weeks ago when D’amaro spoke of retheming Splash Mountain to be more inclusive or something like that? Not to mention removing ZADDD from the esplanade music loop. What a joke.

It's Disney. What else would you expect?

The only thing that movie has going for it is the beautiful background animation. I think I liked it more then Inside Out though. Lol
I tend to like most anything more than Inside Out. But yeah, it does seem that once Pixar realized how good they can make their movies look, that's where the bulk of their focus went and because of that, "story" became a game of "good enough".

The background stuff looked fantastic, while the designs on the dinosaurs were just atrocious.

I imagine that with their drastic drop in income that profit overruled virtue. As it generally does. But I'm not telling you anything here. Commerce is the oldest profession.

We want to be more “inclusive” ....just after we pander to our core fans one last time and get rid of these plushies that are marked up 1000%. It’s a pandemic after all. $ first. “Inclusivity” later.
Exactly. Might as well make a few more bucks off non-inclusivity one last time before they become all inclusive. This is why I call Disney 'Passive Progressive" they only want to give the illusion of being progressive up to a certain point while still collecting money.

And dammit I’m l kind of mad because I wanted one of those Brer Bear Plushes. I had my eye on one, even held one outside the Briar Patch once when they first came out but put it down. As a grown man I felt kind of silly buying one. The fact that they re about to probably never be made again makes me feel a little less silly. Regardless it ll just go in the closet with the other 90% of my collectibles.

In reality, are stuffed animals any more silly than POPs or popcorn buckets?

Nothing wrong with a grown man having a plushie from his favorite ride before its gone forever for no good reason. my rule is if i see something i want and think "I'll get it another time" I need to buy it now because I will either not buy it and it will sell out and i will miss my chance or they will stop making it. and i don't want to pay ebay prices. i planned to get one myself when the parks opened but who knows when that will be now. i wanted the big 3: BR'ER RABBIT, BRE'R FOX AND BR'ER BEAR before Disney acts like these characters never existed the way they do Zipp-ADEE- DOO-DAH now. One of the most iconic and most identifiable songs related to Disney now being treated like it never existed. Damn shame.
