I would’ve bought one, but the Facebook login requirement is a deal-breaker for me. The price is right, but I think we’re still one more hardware gen away from really great visuals.

Facebook login requirement? So you have to have a Facebook account to use one? Not a deal breaker for me but what? You have to log in every time?

Yes and yes. Facebook now owns Oculus and decided to make Oculus VR part of their social
media ecosystem. You have to be logged in, and many users have found out the hard way that if your Facebook account gets suspended for any reason, the headset instantly becomes a $300 paperweight.

I’m waiting for the competition to catch up, or for the FB requirement to be dropped.

With the short sighted changes Disney has been doing, and dumping incredible amounts of money into these projects nobody asked for - I can't help but wonder what will happen to seasonal rides and changes like decor, HMH, Hyperspace, Powerplant after dark, etc.. and how alive the parks will be without the entertainment since a ton of people were let go. 😞
I hope the seasonal ride overlays disappear, but the slashing of live entertainment brings Disney a step closer to being Six Flags. Isn’t it just “magical” that they can’t afford all that much-loved entertainment, but— Hey everyone, we’re ordering lots of expensive new signs for WDW’s anniversary! And don’t forget Frog Mountain at DL! Dreams come true, right? Right?

This might be a dumb question but do I need a PC to play Oculus Quest 2 games? Just bought a Mac last year so I’m not going to buy a new PC just to play video games

I really hope IASWH and HMH survive this but God knows. Everything else that's planned can be scrapped for all I care. Except maybe MMRR cause that's the most original thing to come out of Disney in years

Not a dumb question at all—It’s the first thing people ask about it. No PC required; It’s a stand-alone device. :)

BTW, Planet Coaster arrives on Mac Nov. 17th! :D

I don’t really think they’d scrap IASWH and HMH just because they’ve already invested so much in the physical props and decor, and both are hugely popular.

Awesome thanks!

Ooo something like planet coaster on VR would be awesome. Does anything like that exist. And why isn’t Disney trying to tap into this VR market ?

I wish! There are some VR coaster sims, but nothing as elaborate or deep as Planet Coaster. If Frontier is working on a sequel, I really hope VR is part of it!

As for Disney... Despite Disney experimenting a *lot* with VR for the parks and even licensing a very good Animal-Crossing-like game full of Disney characters on the 3DS, Iger decided the company shouldn’t directly involve itself in videogames after Disney Infinity didn’t make as many millions as he’d hoped. Considering what’s happened this year, it sure seems like a shortsighted decision now.

Today we vote for who will lead the country and what rules will guide us down the road. This year has been hard for everyone, with some coming from several years of struggle. I'm posting today in hopes that all of us remember that we found each other here on this website in a fellowship of common interest. It's perfectly normal that we differ in other opinions, but I hope we keep in mind that there is plenty we can relate to about each other. I like to keep in mind a quote from the film The Outlaw Josey Wales, in which the protagonist muses, "Governments don't live together, people live together." No matter what happens tonight, we still have a tough way ahead. The easiest we can make it is by respecting the things that are important to all of us.

I don't mean this to be a diving board for discussion, just a positive wish for all my friends here on the site.

Mission Breakout: Escape from the bathtub!
I want an AA show called, “Great Moments With Willam Howard Taft.” And at the beginning he sternly addresses the audience: “Before we begin, let’s get this out of the way: There is NO bathtub scene in this show!” There’s a pause, then he breaks into a great, jolly laugh. “I’m joking! Of COURSE there is!”

After a century of being embarrassed by the incident, he’s decided to absolutely own it.
