It's funny how miserable a lot of people look in the park when I'm there. I'm sure sometimes when I'm tired I don't look bright and bubbly (then again I usually never do) but a lot of the time I'm in the park I have a constant smile on my face because I love being in the parks and take everything in since I only get to go once every year or two. It makes me sad seeing families looking stressed or upset, I understand it when children are throwing tantrums that it gets stressful but I've seen even groups of young adults / teenagers that seem like they aren't enjoying themselves. This is the happiest place on earth, dang it!
Some of this is a bad side effect of the AP concept. Too many people at DL are there too often and—especially for teens—if becomes just another hangout space. And when the parks are seriously overcrowded, it’s a lot more difficult for everyone to have fun between rides.

Knotts is a teen hangout during the summer. You should see the huge pick up line at closing. It stretches pass McDonalds sometimes.

My first ever Knott's visit was early summer 2013, and there were maybe three other people there that weren't between the ages of 13-18.

It got old really fast.

Welcome to 2020 - the year that won't allow us to have nice things.
Buffets and salad bars are gone forever.

I assume we won't be able to put things on our hamburgers at Smokejumpers Grill anymore.

Which baffles my mind, honestly. All You Can Eat buffets have every chance to adapt to the changes needed right now, things can still be all you can eat without you actually having to go up and get the food yourself. The bread that comes to my table when I eat somewhere nice is all I can eat but I never once have to go somewhere for it.

Buffets should be the same during this time. Space out the seating and have a mask wearing host or hostess come to your table and take an order of what you'd like. Then they bring it to you. Rinse and repeat.

Isn't that basically just a normal restaurant? It just makes their staff actually do something for a tip. It's even worse at a Korean BBQ. You have to get the meats and cook it yourself! Drinks are self service too. Then they want a tip.

Another PSA about the Topps Disney Collect card app: Today they started a limited time Mr. Toad set, with the wonderful illustrations from the classic Golden Book:

The thing about this app: You can preview view all the card art even if you haven’t “gotten” the card in your “collection.” You won’t get all the fancy special effects and borders that go with the “special” editions of the cards, but if you just care about the art itself... well there ya go.

Yeah, it kind of is. The difference is the all you can eat factor. I'm not advocating for a permanent change, I was just saying it was an option for some of these buffets like Souplantation who are now closed forever to try and adapt and survive, if regulations would let them try. All you can eat table service until regular buffets can be re-instated. If folks wanted to re-configure the layout to avoid paying tip, they could too. Just make it like the Plaza Inn character breakfast buffet. There, you go up and tell them what you want and the Cast Members give it to you. Cast Members who would probably be following COVID protocols and wearing gloves/masks. The same could have been said for buffet employees.

I love Korean BBQ, they take orders for the meats we want and then the sides / extras that are cooked and prepared before they're brought to us but it is pretty fun sometimes to cook the meat on the hot plate yourself, except that I'm the youngest in my family so if I ever go with them then I have to do the cooking (youngest person traditionally does the cooking, but everyone helps a bit). It's also all you can eat to an extent, we get like 2 hours to order as many rounds of food as we want and I definitely overeat a bit every time I go there. Plus the staff usually come trade the hot plate for a new clean one after 2 rounds of cooking because some of the sauces on the meat can get caked on pretty quick for things like spicy bulgogi.

I had dinner last evening at a YC'S mongolian grill, which is buffet style. you put what you want in the bowl and at the end someone cooks it. they had plastic throw away gloves you put on then i was able to touch the tongs and put in my bowl whatever i wanted. so if they can do that, there is no reason we can't have buffets still.
