You know whats funny, I can't remember if I rode it back in 80s or not during family trips. But I know I didn't ride it in the 90s as I missed it before it closed.

Sounds like it wasn’t a must do for our family or yours. Just a piece of DL history I missed out on that I could have easily seen. Most of my young memories are on the west Side of the park.

Went to Santa Barbara for the day yesterday and i realized half the reason (or more) I go to DL is for the architecture, landscaping and atmosphere they create. Going to Santa Barbara is like going to DL without the stress and lines... and the rides unfortunately. But just transport POTC and a couple other rides there and it’s a toss up.

On another note, they had stricter dining restrictions than OC. I ate at a restaurant on State Street for lunch and one in Montecito for dinner and both were outdoor dining only. Which was fine because it was a beautiful day.

Kind of ****es me off that I never got to go on Mission to Mars considering I was 10 years old when it closed and had been to Disneyland numerous times. I didn’t even know it existed.
You didn’t miss anything. For me it tied with Motorboat Cruise as DL’s worst ride.

The mild blast-off was the highlight. Then the Captain showed you —for chuckles—a film clip of animated martians from Walt’s TV show. Then your ship was struck by meteorites (mild shaking and flashing lights) and quickly returned to Earth as the Capt. apologized, said such mission-canceling incidents were rare, and recommended trying again sometime.

Even as a kid, my reaction was, “What. A. Rip-off.”

You’d have to transport so many rides from Disneyland that it would nearly literally be Disneyland. Santa Barbara really is lovely, though.

Disneyland really should have put in Alien Encounter in Mission to Mars like they intended before the cuts.

Hahah more terrible than I thought. Sounds like Star Tours REALLY made Mission to Mars obsolete. Like Falcon was supposed to do to Star Tours.

Still, it would have been cool to say I’ve been on it. Ive seen that circular room with the seats in all the books.

Theres another one my parents must not have known about or have been fond of because I didn't do Tiki Room til I was 17 years old with a friend when I ditched school. But seriously dude, any Disneylander worth his salt needs to see the show. You'll have to do it next time.
Every trip I asked my family if we can go see it and they always said "It's really boring" but I want to see it still. I think when I next go I will because its the one attraction I regret never doing.

Oh tell them they can spare 10 minutes. Just make it mutually beneficial. Do it in the mid afternoon when it’s hot and they’ll thank you for the AC and the dole whip.

Current Disneyland attractions I've never experienced are limited to the subs, the Monorail, Rise of the Resistance, Sailing Ship Columbia, the canoes, Tom Sawyer Island, and all of the Man Street vehicles.

I think I had a similar list at your age except for I had been on like one of the Main Street vehicles, the monorail a couple times and TSI once.

There are some notable Disneyland experiences missing on that list. I’ve said it many times but TSI is a gem. It took a child to get me to go back though. The monorail, particularly as it winds through Fantasyland/ TL on you re way into Disneyland is full of old school DL charm.

Where else in greater LA/Orange County can you paddle a canoe along a tree-lined river?
