Mini Trip Report (6/9): A Tale of Two Disneylands

I pulled off the Disneyland Dr. freeway ramp around 3:15 on Sunday afternoon and headed for M&F. Hearing nothing but "Disneyland is empty! Come now!" statements all week, I thought this would be a great time to visit the park. But then, my stomach dropped as I saw cones blocking off the lanes into the parking structure. Oh no, I thought. It must be so packed right now and of course it would be because its a Sunday in the beginning of summer... But, rather than turn around and go home, I proceeded to the Toy Story Lot, waited in that clustermuck of traffic, waited in another blazingly hot line for the bus, and finally arrived at the resort around 4:15.

But then... the parks were the most pleasant I have ever seen them! Everyone was right! I'll just run down our day.
1. Mr. Lincoln
-He's back! And better than ever. Although, I did notice something "new" (not sure) but right before he gives his voice-over in the video, I could swear they swapped out part of the Paul Frees narration... didn't bother me, but I did notice it.
2. Pretzel on Main St.
-Self explanatory. 10/10.
3. The Enchanted Tiki Room
-The CM host, Maynard... what a treat!! He gave the best pre-show spiel I have ever heard, bouncing around with different voices and characters. It was great to see such enthusiasm from a CM.
4. Tropical Hideaway
-The Pineapple/Raspberry Dole Whip is amazing. 10/10.
5. Pirates of the Caribbean
-10 minute queue. Only downside to riding it was that we got majorly log-jammed towards the end. Boats were backed up well into the burning town scene.
6. Haunted Mansion
-5 minute queue. We seriously walked through the gates and didn't stop until we were at the last bend before the porch and FP stand. Also, they must have had the cars running at MAX speed because I don't recall ever getting through so fast! No stops, just a very brief slow-down in the dining room scene. Loved it.
7. Indiana Jones
-20 minute queue. This is what the sign actually said, I couldn't believe it. (A walk by later saw it drop down to 15) Beautiful. Also, rode next to two first-timers and I can attest, there's nothing better than seeing people's genuine first-time reactions to something like Indy. So much laughter and excitement.
8. Buzz Lightyear (x2)
-5 minute queue. Literally, the line went down and straight into the building. No zig-zags. That's why we went on two times in a row. Well, that and the fact that the first time my blaster was broken. It recorded 500 points every time I pulled the trigger, but nothing when I hit the targets. You'd think that would ensure a high scoring run, but I only logged around 175,000 points.

We did ALL THAT in under 3 hours.

Then we decided to have a slow dinner at SmokeJumpers in DCA, walked around a bit in search of the Thanos Gauntlet sippers (no luck) and decided to call it a night. Back on the buses to Toy Story, and back on the road by 9:30.

THIS IS WHAT DISNEYLAND IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE. Let me implore anyone on the fence, if you have the chance to go between now and June 24th, DO IT. We might never know the parks like this again.

So, I guess MiceChat didn't like it the other day when I called Fab's Small World article out as being rubbish.

Frozen 2 got me hype
I enjoyed the first one (opening day & pre-oversaturation) enough to be hesitantly optimistic. I guess that's not quite Hype. There's so much that could go horribly wrong... Fingers crossed. The trailer is certainly less annoying than the one for "Onward."

>>Santa Ana residents voted to regulate and tax medical marijuana shops in November 2014. The city then held a lottery to award licenses to 20 businesses, which started opening in August 2015.

After Californians legalized recreational marijuana, the Santa Ana City Council voted to let its medical marijuana shops start selling cannabis to all adults 21 and over with just an ID, starting in 2018, when the state launched a recreational cannabis market. The city council also opted to license up to 10 more recreational cannabis shops, for a total of 30. And council members voted to allow non-retail cannabis businesses, including cultivation, distribution, manufacturing and laboratory testing.

To date, 18 shops are open and 12 others are in development, according to city spokeswoman Daisy Perez.

One of the city’s recreational retail licenses went to Newtonian Principles, Inc., headquartered at 3400 W. Warner Avenue. Assuming they get through the state and local approval process, Planet 13 will pay Newtonian Principles $6 million cash and $4 million in company shares to transfer over the retail license and property lease.

Kyle Desmet, president of Newtonian Principles, said he’s excited about the elevated industry perception, jobs and revenue Planet 13 will bring to Santa Ana. The city is projecting to get $7.8 million in cannabis revenue this fiscal year and $11.6 million in the next.<<
