The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

From the moment D’amaro made his announcements at D23 I always thought Villains Land and Pandora being completed by 2029 sounded unrealistic. The rest of the announcements like they could realistically be completed by then.
Yeah, Disney Youtuber OG55 said he thinks D'amaro got in over his head when he said everything at D23 2024 would be done in 5 years time. But in their defense, it sounds like Cars and Villains will get dirt moving in March since the permitting snag for that got sorted out, and maybe there is a plan to build the EGW in a way where some other temporary bus hub setup to take HL down and work on it alongside the EGW.

Technically what he said was “everything will start to come to life over the next 5 years”

Didn't we debunk this already? He didn't say that. He said, "I can't wait for you to see these projects start to come to life over the next 5 years."

So technically they only need to stick a shovel in the ground for one attraction in 4 years and 364 days for this statement to be true. We know that won't be the case, but he did not say all projects will be done within 5 years.

You can unless things have changed. People used to change their name all the time. For example Endorsightseer became George Lucas on a Bench among other names I believe. Where is that guy? He was good times. lol. A little unhinged though - hope he’s ok. Loved his vlog series
Okay I checked you can but it says you can’t do it again till march 23

With seemingly no permits in sight to hint on a breaking ground date for the EGW, is it possible they hit a snag with something and its been delayed? With Avatar supposedly slated to open in 2029 alongside part 4, they would have to start on this parking structure soon if we are looking at a 18 month construction window. Or is it possible Avatar will be pushed back to 2030?
They just started on Infinity Defense so obviously projects are moving, my guess is that the EGW stuff will start over the course of the next year or so. There is no specific opening year for Avatar, that is just a guess on the part of others here (you being one of them I believe) that it'll open alongside the 4th movie in 2029. Heck with the 5th movie now coming out in 2031, they could even wait until then to open the land. But there is nothing that says it has to open the same time as one of the upcoming movies are released. In fact it would kind of make sense to open it on an off year to keep Avatar in the news cycle, 2028 or even 2030 is possible.

Anyways back on EGW, we already know that its been approved by the City, so I don't see any specific snags they could have hit with the project, the permits are just a formality at this point.

I'm in the minority on this, but yep. Lotta celebrities chosen solely for their names. David Tennant, for example, sounds nothing like Alan Young.
Does he really need to sound like Alan young though? Again I could be biased because I saw the new one first but I think he sounds pretty good in his own right

If you're taking over as a pre-established character with a pre-established voice, you should at least TRY to sound like the first voice so it still feels like the character. People know what these characters sound like and they're going to notice if the voice sounds wrong.

I guess you have a point I still like his voice though Agree to disagree?

One possible reason why Disney has not announced much regarding Avatar for DCA right now has to due with the land pulling from the upcoming movies, and they don't want to spoil anything before the trailer is released. However, since the trailer is likely to come out before Destination D23, maybe we will get some more info at the event, followed with actual timelines for the stuff from D23 2024 at D23 2026, though some might come out at Destination D23 2025.

Remember that Avatar 2 full trailers came out in May, 6 months before the movie was released in November. So expect the same here for Avatar 3. We’ll likely get a teaser way before that. I’d expect a teaser sometime between March and May and a full trailer to be released in July with Fantastic 4.

As for info on the land, maybe at Destination D23, but sort of expect them to slowly roll it out in Park Blogs before then.

No im pretty sure he said complete in 5 years. But im not sure if he said that to everyone or only off camera. I vaguely remember OG55 saying he told the audience it would all be complete by the end of the decade off camera. Which leaves some wiggle room for an extra year - so 2030.

I don’t think you can change your name on here the picture you can change but not your name at least that’s what I read when I first signed up
I've changed my name several times. I started out as imagineer97, then I was 𝕴𝖒𝖆𝖌𝖎𝖓𝖊𝖊𝖗97 because it looked cooler, then I became Disgruntled Walt. You can only do it once a month.

But I STILL can't get a GIF for my profile picture like @mickEblu and @TP2000!

Is it not as easy as finding the GIF you like, downloading it and then choosing the file as your new custom avatar?
