The Mine Train 'temper your expectations' thread

I do wonder what's going on with that figure containing the deer, minecart and Dopey. I'm assuming that can't be anything close to the final figure, looks like styrofoam or something, really what the heck...
It looked like plywood cutouts and down a little from that are cutout raccoons.

GAWDDDDD you guys are like pros here, I barely caught some creatures off to the side on the inside part, but I couldn't even tell who or what they were much less the material they were made from. Now I have to go back and watch it again!

The video is several months old, you can tell near the end when it passes Snow White's cottage that's merely framing. I'm pretty sure the animatronics (or whatever they will be) aren't even present yet. Just the bases that will support them are covered up.

Yeah difficult to make out the figures. Some of the smaller ones are seemingly covered with black plastic bags (either to hide them from view or to keep them clean). There seems to be a couple of actual cutouts of dwarfs. Those COULD be placeholders though (and I very much hope they're nothing close to the final), they're difficult to spot because they're white and blend into the walls. You can try to match the figures up with the CGI video to see where things are supposed to go.

Couldn't quite see everything though, the video is very blurry and everything blends in due to the scene being incomplete and without proper show lighting.

As someone already pointed out, this video was shot some time ago.. Things are much further along now then they appear in the footage.. Actually.. The video dates all the way back to mid December..

Having said that, I was recently told to expect test openings (pre soft) in the March 20th range at the earliest..

I think that it will come up short of some expectations... The ride seems to be more of a Goofy's Barnstormer type of ride while people thought it would be more of a Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. With that aside, the ride will still be an exciting family ride (NOT thrill ride), but more geared towards families with children. Example: the minimum height requirement is 38" while BTMRR or Space Mountain is 48".

They're probably going to highlight the details and the show scenes and boast the "family friendly" aspect more than anything. I'm curious to see how they spin it too, to be honest.

If they want to promote this new ride, IMHO they should experiment with a youtube-only ad. Adam The Woo, Kinsey, Draven (made up like Snow White of course), and friends -- any number of current, nearly, or formerly trespassed individuals file onto the ride. Once the ride starts, all heck breaks loose, lots of fast cuts, screaming on-ride, reacting to everything in a wild-eyed, "YEAH this rocks", gen-X rage. Speed metal music behind close-up reaction shots with weird lighting, making this out like a thrill ride or something dangerous. A "just kidding" reveal showing what they're seeing, the gem mine with Dwarfs animatronics, and that yes this is indeed a family friendly coaster. Everyone wearing Mickey ears w/ their names as they exit the ride, as if transformed by the experience. Ending caption "Spring 2014 - UN-trespass your way to the Magic".

No - of course that will NEVER, ever happen. Might amuse me, but maybe not the general public.

If we're lucky, we might get a 90 second super-ad premiering on Jimmy Kimmel and/or Disney Channel soon, then two chopped up 30 second ads and that feature different aspects of the super-ad. Families with perfect teeth, angular features, wearing pastel colors. A girl in a Snow White costume, a boy mouth agape as if to say "this is not a ride for princesses!". Snow White herself on the ride reacting to show scenes, hands on face saying "Oh". One of the Fab 5 on-ride with family going down the big outside drop. Family friendly, clean fun stuff.

Well we now know that there is no witch before the drop and it's a just a drop. Really worried about this one. Big thunder is a good family ride, this one has me wary. Then again we saw 0 percent of any sort of show scene in the video.

I thought BTM and Space were both 40"?

Boy...lots of amazing animatronic figures in that clip, huh?

Or...not.
Even looking at the computer imaged ride through, all the AAs appear to be doing is lifting their arms up and down mining for diamonds... I wouldn't call that impressive...

Are there supposed to be AAs in the cottage scene at the end of the ride?

I think the current rumor is that the witch will be seen in the entrance to the mine at the top of the first lift hill (an area not shown in the video). Who knows, though.

I'm unaware of any real AAs in the ride.
Just lots of "animated figures."

(That's as of 18 months ago. Could have changed, but I'd be pleasantly surprised.)
