Maybe they assume that people who buy it have lit their homes like the ride. I like the sound of that.

Granted I own one of these:

I really need to get another one. It's not right to just have one.
Is that by your front door?

Sadly no. I live in an apartment complex. I really don't need my neighbors to think I'm any more nuts than they already do. But I bring it out from time to time and hang it on the wall. It really sets the mood. It's one of my favorite hunks of plastic.

It's a shame Disney doesn't cater to the Disneyland park specific fans more, by releasing all the music in the full ride/show forms, replicas of the rides and ride vehicles, along with more history books for each attraction.

I guess selling T shirts and plastic cups ,*ahem*, I mean collectible steins is an easier way to make big money on low cost items.

Your right. I feel like they are leaving a lot of money on the table. But maybe the high end stuff we want them to create and the price point they would have to Sell the products at to make a profit wouldn't be worth it? With that said, every once in a while they hit the nail on head- like those Haunted Mansion portraits for $25. Heck, I've been buying those diecast ride vehicles that they made in the early 2000s that were only 6 bucks then and very good quality for the price.

How do you like the park specific Jim shore pieces?

I wish they would have kept going with the park specific Olszewski light boxes. There are so many iconic scenes they could have created.

Whoever Jim Shore is, he doesn't get the look of the Haunted Mansion characters right. I don't appreciate stylized ultimately off model high end figures. I want it to look like the characters from the ride. For instance, the hitchhiking ghosts aren't even ghosts. This makes them look like zombies from the Michael Jackson "Thriller" video, not Haunted Mansion ghosts. The hat box ghost is completely off model and is dressed like a magician at a kids birthday party.

lol I agree. I've bought a few of his classic Disney character pieces but the problem is that he makes the park characters look kind of cartoonish too so they don't really appeal to me. Except the hat box ghost. He looks good to me, probably because he looks cartoonish anyway.

I think @Kira Nerys hit the nail on the head- the Jim Shore pieces tried to put their own artistic spin on classic park characters, so they don't look right. I bought the Fantasmic figure, but I'm such a fan of the original show, and since good merchandise for it is sparse, I couldn't resist.

If the figures are still there next time I go, I'll likely pick up the Hatbox Ghost, since it is one of the better pieces.

The Olzweski line is pretty amazing. I don't care for most of the lightboxes, but the Main Street model line is pretty outstanding, especially the castle one.

The "1955 Disneyland Main Street Station" Model is poorly done though- looking at the close up pictures on here, it has a Pirates of the Caribbean ride poster in the tunnel, which obviously wasn't there in 1955. For these high end pieces, the lack of attention to detail is a huge dealbreaker.

When Disney has the mold for something, they like to use it until the mold breaks. So much for BB-8 being a one of a kind.

Here are some new random two packs. Maybe these should have been saved for St. Patrick's Day.

Saw This on the Micechat update today. Not sure how new it is but I've never noticed it before. Apparently it's a working clock too. Which definitely bumps up the cool factor, although personally I would rather have the clock hands continuously moving in a ghostly fashion.

These are on the Shop Disney app. There is a 25% off code SDPINSTA25. The app is being hammered right now and takes a long time to process. You would think the Mouse would have better app to take your money.

What's the deal with the eyes on the "tail" in the HM clock? Creative license gone awry.

I noticed that too but thought "maybe ive never noticed those eyes before." But I guess you just confirmed that those don't exist on clock inside the attraction. So what's there instead?

I'm not sure. They've never been particularly great at doing HM merchandise, but this is an odd blunder for a higher end thing. All I can figure is that someone in marketing freaked because they thought the tail looked too phallic and some genius got the idea to put a pair of eyes on the end.

Thats actually a pretty good guess.
