The Haunted Mansion with no tracks?

You act like the vehicles are spread out over acres of forest... they're still just ride vehicles in a show scene. I also don't think guests would take an evac as an opportunity to take home a free souvenir just because the CM is walking them through a room instead of down some stairs next to a track.

They had to put new keys in the dog's mouth on POTC this past summer, didn't they?

We should just leave HM alone...
I wasn't seriously suggesting that they do that to Mansion. The cost to retrofit something like that would probably be higher than just building a new ride. Just saying that it's possible to have a ride system where part is tracked and part is trackless... we already have it.

I know, I just don't want anyone that may be watching to get any ideas...haha

You tell me. My point was there are idiots whether the ride vehicles are on tracks or not; I don't think collecting guests from around a small room instead of along a track makes that problem any better or worse.

Well, they did have to replace the keys. And the technology won't be introduced on any of the existing rides, and if it is, well, then it'll just be fun to sit back and read the complaints of how the rides are down forever... then not working when it opens... ya know, just like stuff in New Fantasyland.

Orlando will be getting a similar technology this year when SeaWorld opens Antarctica.

WDW, on the other hand, will be getting new benches, some tacky hats you can purchase, and wristbands that know your favorite flavor of ice cream.

I'd be interested to know if there's an exclusivity agreements with SEA and Oceaneering. Might have to inquire on that.

In the somewhat recent past several of the insiders here have stated that the trackless ride system won't be coming to WDW, at least not in the foreseeable future. It's an awesome system that has incredible potential for a variety of ride concepts, and Disney's competitor Sea World is opening a ride this year that will use it. Damn shame WDW apparently won't be getting it.

Isn't Ratatouille rumored to come to DHS?
M.rudolf stated recently in the DHS Cars Land thread that DHS will be getting Radiator Springs Racers, Flo's Diner, Monster Inc Coaster, and Ratatouille. Though in more recent posts, he seems more uncertain about Ratatouille, he said he heard the Rat plans could change.

Pretty much all the other insiders have stated that Ratatouille is purely a rumor at this point. It's plausible that with this being WDW, they'll either value engineer the ride, make it a spinner instead, or just not build it at all. Honestly with the way WDW is treated by leadership, we'll be lucky if we get a clone of RSR that is as good as the one in CA. Monster Inc coaster seems to be fairly likely, but it has gotten close to being greenlit more than once before if i'm not mistaken. It doesn't pay to get hopes up given how Disney loves to mutilate budgets and attraction plans for WDW.

The only way I see this being retrofitted into existing attractions is it COULD be cheaper to operate (Where as a car could be removed if it breaks, if the current track breaks down the whole ride is shut down until it is fixed) I don't think Disney will replace any existing rides anytime soon though, and if they did, for example, Haunted Mansion. They don't have to make the tracks wider and have different paths made. The new technology could just replace the old tracks.

After seeing the video of the technology I do think it is freaking awesome though!

My understanding is that the whole floor of any existing attraction would have to be gutted and the concrete repoured to be perfectly flat for the LPS. I mean, you could possibly build a small new show building next to a ride for a trackless scene and minimize the work done to the existing ride, but still... We can't get a ground-up LPS ride; retrofitting is probably too much work even for an ambitious company.

Wow, 3 pages and no one has mentioned the fact that this ride system is going into HKDL's Mystic Manor...aka, their take on the Haunted Mansion. and should be opening in the summer/fall this year

There is on specifics with Sea World's use, and not on other versions, but that's pretty standard, and there are others doing trackless. Oceaneering has the patent on this specific motion base ride vehicle, but Uni has Spiderman and Trans, and like Martin just said (I'm saying that a lot lately) WDW has the original versions of guide-by-wire with UoE, GMR and ToT.

There would not be a retrofit of existing rides with this tech for a multitude of reasons. New uses, yes.

That was the first thing that I thought of, and was checking through to see whether anyone else had mentioned it before I was going to. I was surprised it took 3 pages for it to come up!

A nightmare before christmas ride with this technology would be amazing!!
Any ride with this technology would be amazing.

Rescuers Down Under. Duck Tales The Movie. Cinderella. Alice. Mary Poppins.

Splash proved that obscurity, when handled correctly, can make the BEST rides.

I think they should just take the Format behind Poohs Honey Hunt, and created Duck Tails the Ride. and Get Rid of that stupid Yellow Tent in Storybook Circus, and put the ride there, and Just Theme it to the Circus. it could be a great Dark Ride
