The Hall of Presidents to reopen before Christmas

The way I look at it, by timely opening it like they had done every other president it would have just been business as usual. They could have claimed no political side no matter what president going forward. By waiting there will be people mad on either side. I see it as a lose lose no matter what.

Except it took so long, allegedly, because the white house and Disney could not come to an agreement over the script and lock down a recording session.

I have it on reliable authority that the lack of being able to get a recording was the culprit. Disney could have opted to re-open HoP without the POTUS' involvement but that would have likely appeared to be more of a political statement than waiting until a recording was agreed on.

What are the chances of this just silently opening sometime in the next week or two without anyone on these boards having any advanced notice? I mean, is that even possible, or do the "insiders" on these boards have enough advanced knowledge that we would at least have a day or two warning?
The only way I can see them doing such is in a way that they reopen it on a sunday when the documents are updated, but even then cast schedules of where they work are usually a week or 2 out, so they would know when they are going back.

I am looking forward to seeing the new show on January 28th during the DVC party. I can be sure the people who are at the showing will behave themselves.
DVC members are more likely to behave?
Yes, at a DVC party.
They are “home”;)

I actually do think AP holders and/or DVC owners would have more to lose if they misbehave badly enough to get kicked out. They may fear a permanent ban and have more invested than some knucklehead who just shows up to cause problems. As long term Disney Park fans they may also have more respect for the history of the attraction than an average tourist.

I was just going to say something similar. Imagine paying for a timeshare while you’re banned from the parks. I don’t think too many people would want to be faced with that scenario.

No
Question, I may have missed it and if so I apologize, but do we know if the work is complete on the attraction and if not is that why it is not open yet or is Disney just sitting on it for whatever reason? Also do we know if DL will open around the same time?

The answer to the first part of your question is YES. we don't know and could be whatever. Also, if DL means Disneyland... they don't have a Hall of the Presidents. Just Mr. Lincoln.

My apologies if I've missed this along the way, but do we actually know that the refurb is complete? I don't recall seeing the insiders on here even comment on the update nor has there been any word on where, when, or even if a recording session with Donald Trump ever took place. All we seem to know is that they have most likely built the Trump AA.

I don’t think I can go into it without politics being involved, but I’m assuming the refurbishment is finished. Disney did more with less time 8 years ago, so I’m guessing that the reason for waiting was politically based (unless they really couldn’t find a time for Trump to record his lines).

I assume you're right, but we just have so few specifics beyond Disney announcing that they were adding the new president. Everything seems to be assumptions at this stage while we know very, very little. It surprises me Trump himself hasn't tweeted about it if he recorded a speech for WDI and I wonder if Disney was begging him not to. I find it hard to believe the current president would go along with participating in a Disney World attraction but keeping quiet about it so as to avoid controversy, though. If he does Tweet about it when it opens, then HoP becomes international news...

My AP keeps my mouth shut. If anyone hit me with a stroller twice, they would get told to stay the ... back. If you are loudly giving a cashier, waitress, or counter person an undeserved hard time, you will get told to shut up. If run past me to get to the check out line or post office door, you will get called a bad name. I like my AP and keep my mouth shut, dirty look, that's it.

Like I said, if someone knows, they aren't speaking out.

I have not heard anything regarding this. Personally, I would assume (as weird as it sounds) that Obama would be reskined as Trump
I believe I've read that that's generally the methodology. The "new" seated Obama doesn't need to be nearly as limber as the current sitting, errrr, standing president. Thus the more limber frame that was inside Obama for the past 8 years will be refitted to become President Trump.
