Farmer Willmark has gathered all his seeds needed for this year. Also I have starter boxes easy to go for transplant but it’s still way to cold to even cultivate and till the soil. It’s 21 today, 11 with windchill and that’s the high.

Also purchased more long term seeds for the personal seed vault for emergencies.

Potatoes are likewise a go this year.
The like is for having everything not the weather!!!!!!!!!

Finally got the garden in.
60 tomatoes, 24 jalapeño, celery, carrots, green beans, cucumber, and honeynut squash.
Also a bunch of annuals and perennials.
Pictures in a few days.
It was finally warm enough for me to get my potatoes in. So jealous you got your garden going. I'm still a few weeks away from getting anything else outside

Its been freezing here. not hyperbole last few nights has been in the low 40s upper 30s. This has been an exceptionally cold spring here.

That said the garden is about 2/3 weeded and 2 weeks out from planting. I was going to do some improvements to the garden, but with lumber prices where they are? No way.

I have a question.

I'm looking on planting a green wall of arborvaeti. Soil is high in clay content. What should I do in terms of peat

arborvitae? Ugh I have ripped those out at previous houses, once with a pick up truck, so probably not the best person to ask ;)

What climate zone are you in?

Same here and very damp. Only my potatoes are out. Doesn't look as if anything else will be going out until 2 weeks from now. New to my deck garden this year. Grow bags which are much sturdier than I was expecting, 2 longer "window boxes" for the side of my deck which faces the street, got the "lined ones" supposedly the plants are supposed to be happier(we'll see about that) at least I should be able to make a prettier display with more space. The marigolds I started from seed will go in the old "window" boxes. My citronella over wintered but didn't grow so I won't have cutting to spare:( at least I got one more season out of them than I usually do:joyfull: This week my dh will build 2 new "earth boxes" to replace the ones that have seen better years, we were able to salvage the "pond" boxes and pipes to use in the new ones.

Here in coastal SC we have had a very dry spring, have had to water constantly. I got a jump on planting this spring and stated plants in the greenhouse in early Dec. and took a chance on planting early (most years I have to replant due to late frost). No frost this year had a great crop of cauliflower, sugar snap peas are 8'tall and producing like crazy. Will be picking green beans soon and the eggplant is starting to flower, sweet corn is about 2 1/2' tall. Tomatoes are full of tomatoes just may have some ripe ones in 2 weeks, spaghetti squash are full of squash. Been picking cucumbers and picked the first yellow squash and zucchini yesterday. Planted carrots but they're a bust to much nitrogen in the soil and they all went to tops and no carrots, talked to a friend and he told me he fertilizes with a high potassium low nitrogen fertilizer. All in all so far garden is doing well These pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago of the peas .corn is much bigger, box in the back are potatoes and the box infronto the carrots are okra. Everything is mulched with hay keep the weeds down and keep the soil from drying out so fastDSCN0001.JPGDSCN0007.JPGDSCN0008.JPG

The annual run to the garden center went well:joyfull: I got some pretty flowers, ghost chili peppers for the boys, fertilizer and note to self do not bring the dh! he got lettuce plants:cautious: If I wanted to grow lettuce I would have ordered seeds but he needed to have his work ID hanging from the mirror when we drove in to get the discount and shop when we did. Same set up as last year cash drawer out or call in your credit card:joyfull:
