It's that time of year again! Today I ordered me seeds a pickling cucumber, zucchini, dinosaur kale, hot cherry peppers, a tomato called tigerella and for grins and giggles red pontiac potatoes and yukon gold potatoes along with grow bags for the potatoes. I'll order what I need to start the seeds later this week unless Lowes or Depot has a better price

Even though I'm remodeling the entire basement, I'm planning the garden too. Menards has their seeds out already and beside the discounts off the packaged prices, they have a 15% off sale going on until the 16th. I bought carrots, green beans, peas, and cucumbers. I have given up on starting tomatoes from seed. Last year we found an awesome greenhouse about an hour south of where we live in Chicago. Great prices and great selection. I have grown tigerella tomatoes. Not my favorite. Just my opinion. But Black Krim or Japanese Trifle tomatoes. 👍😁. Oh, I can't wait til spring!

My ds likes stiped tomatoes so we're giving them a try. I get most of my tomatoes from the farm market, what I grow are snacks for the kids

I think we have had the last potential frost- moved my tomatoes from the greenhouse to the garden ( they have flowers on them already). Have been picking lettuce -have more than we can eat so giving it to my neighbors. Sugar snap peas are up about a foot tall. Supposed to have great weather all week

We won't have anything in the ground until late May/early June.
My dad just bought all his seeds.
And it looks like I'm going to become a farmer this year as my dad is having spinal fusion surgery in a couple weeks and basically you are not allowed to bend over for a while. The surgeon said since my dad is so active for his age (77) he hopes that it will heal quickly but overall its probably going to be 3 months which would be cutting it pretty close to the latest we've ever planted which was the third week of June a few years ago because of the weather.

Wish your dad a speedy recovery

This year should go a lot smoother. By that I mean I don’t have as much construction to do.

Thursday I’m ordering 4-6 limbless apple trees. Still in the planning stages for what to plant vegetable wise.
Very curious about the apple trees. Do you have some already? If so, how are they? I saw them last year and wanted to add them to the gardens.

Farmer Willmark has gathered all his seeds needed for this year. Also I have starter boxes easy to go for transplant but it’s still way to cold to even cultivate and till the soil. It’s 21 today, 11 with windchill and that’s the high.

Also purchased more long term seeds for the personal seed vault for emergencies.

Potatoes are likewise a go this year.
