The Gaming Industry: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Despite what some of you may think about me regarding recent exchanges, there are moves from Nintendo that make me scratch my head and go, “what?”

Today, without any sort of advanced notice or fanfare, Hulu is now available on the Switch.

Even the most recent interviews asked about stuff like this and they still remained silent.

It's about time they started to roll out more functionality.

More proof Blizzard is the best gaming company on the planet.

If you purchased StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty before October 31 2017 you will have the Heart of the Swarm expansion for free!

There will be a little gift box in the Blizzard launcher and you have to have SC2 installed.

Freebie ends December 8!

To bad there's nothing for those that have purchased all of the expansions for SC2 as well. =(

EA has bought Respawn, the creators of Titanfall.

Just give it a few years.

This is actually really amusing because the head of Respawn used to work for EA, then left EA for Activision to make Call of Duty, then left Activision to be independent, now he’s back with a scummy publisher. It’s like someone who keeps going back to someone or finds someone else that will all treat them like crap.

In interesting news game theory's latest theory about fnaf was confirmed to be almost 100% accurate which means future games are likely to not be lore based. How nuts is that.

Best Buy pickups from today.

Thanks to my membership to Gamer’s Club it only cost $62.

Edit: turns out the “optional” multiplayer download isn’t so optional. Gotta sit here and wait for a big update to finish before I can play.

Whoa man. Does anyone follow any reddit forums? The r/StarWarsBattlefront is in full on riot mode. Not looking pretty for EA/Dice right now.

Without reading to much it seems that the initial progression system is a huge grind to encourage purchasing of loot boxes. On top of EA comments that everything is fine and they are over reacting. Honestly I'm not picking this game up day one. The alpha and beta were fun but not enough to make me want to day one purchase.

Have you hear any reports of how long the single player campaign is?

Try the Reddit for Star Citizen if you really want some entertainment, that game is a total hot mess.

Not picking it up either unless I hear good things about the single player campaign. From what I have gathered most of the whining is about pay to win multiplayer which means I'll be sticking to Overwatch.

Speaking of whining, the old Intel vs AMD cpu debate is in full flame mode. Apparently the new Assassins Creed takes advantage of multi-core processors and the Ryzen six cores are starting to beat the trusty Intel four core standards. The I5 7600k, a freaking stalwart processor is, dare I say, starting to show its age and getting soundly gut punched by 6 core Ryzen's.

The Intel I7 8700 is still the cpu king because its a six core, but for Directx 12 to finally give Ryzen this slap on the back is a pretty big deal.

If the 6-8 hour rumors hold true, this will be a weekend Redbox rental for me.

Why Disney had to make a deal with the devil for Star Wars games I’ll never know.

Say what you want about Blizzard and Overwatch and “it’s just cosmetic,” but you can’t deny that the success of that game was the catalyst for all the others to follow suit and take it oh so much further. Give them an inch and they’ll take a mile.

EA’s a bunch of Enormous ***holes.

Edit: Also, it’s not just Blizzard. Their full name is Activision-Blizzard. Yes, Activision. The same company that filed disgusting patents for further incentivizing microtransactions and loot boxes.
