EA wants to wait to see how the Switch does after a year before making any more games. They havent "pulled away".
They can say all they want. It’s already proven itself a success and there are other third parties that are now ramping up production of games for it. All I see from EA is more of the same crap they pulled on Wii U.

Skyrim is pretty much the most hyped third party game for the system

I'm honestly really curious how well this sells on the switch. It's a game that has been released twice already. I guess I should have clarified when I said the Switch isn't as popular as the Wii was. There hasn't been much talk of the actual system vs the games coming out for it, mainly Zelda and Mario.

Switch accounted for 19% of Ubisoft’s sales for Q2 against 31% for PS4 and 20% for XBO.

I guess they won’t be leaving any time soon eh @Jimmy Thick?

I was honestly a little shocked that EA is taking a back seat to the Switch. It may not be a power house system but there are plenty of games that could be ported over.

EA wasn't the only developer to pull support from the Wii and Wii U. Nintendo placed a lot of requirements on developers that eventually led to them leaving the platforms. I haven't heard of the same requirements for the switch.

There are plenty who still haven’t played it and there’s actually some hype about being able to play anywhere.

EA is currently obsessed with “games as a service” (read: games that have many avenues of income like microtransactions that keep you playing and paying longer). This model probably doesn’t mesh well with a device that by its nature won’t always be connected to stable internet. Also just typical EA.

I’m not talking about simply stopping support. They also were caught selling sports titles from the previous year with a simple roster update and many missing features. They also expected us to buy Mass Effect 3 by itself for $60 when other consoles got the whole trilogy around that same time for the same price.

I'm not a huge sports, simulation or 1st-person game player, but I've really disliked EA since probably the late 90s/early 2000s. NHL Hockey for the Genesis though...fun times!

I guess you’re forgetting Japanese third parties that have always supported Nintendo. Also, no duh the PS4 and XBO have sold more. They’ve been out for years. If some companies find success on the Switch they’ll stick around, I guarantee it. I personally think Bethesda will find success. Skyrim is pretty much the most hyped third party game for the system and DOOM will have the FPS market all to itself. It helps that DOOM as a franchise isn’t exactly a stranger to Nintendo fans and that the new game was highly praised. Rockstar could see success if they would just port the game people actually want from them which would be Grand Theft Auto.

Also, the “repackaged title” nonsense needs to stop. The only Wii U rerelease from Nintendo themselves is Mario Kart 8. Pokken is Bandai Namco and the rest are also third party.

Skyrim is another repackage. It's also sold over 30 million copies on other platforms. If Skyrim is the most hyped third party title for the system then Nintendo is in trouble. Honestly the next Dragon Quest is probably the most hyped third party title I have seen among the gaming forums, Bethesda is just trying to squeeze out as much as they can from Skyrim in my opinion, but I'll admit I loved it when I played it 4 years ago on my PC and noticed you can get it on sale for the PC for under 5 bucks during sale seasons, thats a great value, more so than a 60 dollar version for the Switch.

I also played Doom over a year ago, its a pretty dated game by now, easily surpassed by Overwatch and Player Unknown Battlegrounds. Maybe Bethesda wants to try to corner a market where those two games are not?

I highly doubt Rockstar will make a Grand Theft Auto for the Switch. The GTA series pursues realism and pushes the envelope graphically/hardware wise the Switch just can't come close to with such dated Maxwell hardware. If they do make one it won't be latest series. I could see older PS2/PS3 titles like Bully and I think Noir is making its way to the Switch, but GTA VI, no way. I want state of the art graphics with my GTA games.

What games did they release 2nd quarter? Was that Switch launch where games were at a minimum? Is the new Assassins Creed coming out for the Switch? The new South Park game? Was the new Farcry game announced for the Switch?

What does the future hold release wise?

* Edit *

Quick little research shows Ubisoft only had one title released during second quarter 2017 that was not dlc, which was MARIO + Rabbids. No releases for PS4 or Xbone and they still outsold Switch.

Let’s see how this quarter pans out, I’m sure Ubisoft will.

I never implied GTA VI, I meant V which it should be able to run easily maybe even using some assets from the PS4/XBO version like how Skyrim is clearly based on the Special Edition. The two FPS games you listed are multiplayer focused and the best part of DOOM from what I’ve heard is the single player. Why do you care that people want to play these games even if they’re coming later? Do you get something out of it? Also your price comparison is totally irrelevant since I don’t have a PC so it would be MUCH more expensive for me to go for the “cheaper version” than to just buy it on Switch. The fact that the Switch was off by only 1% compared to XBO and did better than PC is actually pretty telling. It shows that Switch owners want their games. No, the Switch isn’t getting all of their games. What will happen though is that Ubisoft and any other successful third party will still support it where possible which you seem to flat out deny thinking all of it will dry up.

I don’t have a problem that you don’t like the Switch. I only have a problem when people needlessly trash it. It’s basically trolling. I and every other Nintendo fan knows it won’t get every third party release but what it is getting is exciting.

I don't like the Switch? I probably play it more than you play yours.

I, as a Switch owner, have every right to be critical of its future and the games being made for it. I paid $300 bucks for it, thats a premium price, and comparable to PS4 and Xbone prices, I expect a premium product with premium titles. Premium titles beyond Nintendo produced ones. Skyrim, for example, is not a premium title, its an almost 5 year old game thats been beat to death on other platforms, for Bethesda to bring it out at a premium price, its current retail is $59.99, to the Switch is embarrassing and should be called out by Nintendo fans. Switch owners/fans should not accept this and I choose not to and will call it out as I see fit. Its not trolling, its my opinion and its a popular opinion among other fans of the Switch.

Unless more Switch units get sold, its going to be the Wii U all over again. Like it or not.

The Switch version is based on the Special Edition which came out last year and, lo and behold, that was also $60.

It’s kind of what happens with a good number of remasters. Even a late release like Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4 launched at full price.
Unless more Switch units get sold, its going to be the Wii U all over again. Like it or not.
Funny, I could use your same reaction gif for this statement. The thing has already proven itself and is flying off shelves before it’s even had a single holiday season. Also, some articles from today.

Another Wii U? With news like this and Pokémon already confirmed?

It won't be another Wii U. but they aren't flying off store shelves like they were for the first few months. Part of the reason behind this is it wasn't released in the holiday season and two Nintendo learned their lesson with the Wii and had enough units in production to fill demand.

The switch is honestly in a weird spot for home consoles because it really isn't one. I saw a survey of Switch users that listed over 80% of owners rarely use the Switch docked to a TV. It's portability is it's strength. It very well could replace the 3DS in the future if the rumored smaller Switch does become reality.

What Jimmy and I are trying to say is that it needs to have a fairly consistent release of high quality 1st party and 3rd party games to justify itself. This is an issue that Nintendo has had for a while now and I'm still skeptical for the Switch's future, not this year or next but three and four down the road. A little story time but a friend of mine ended up owning 3 Wiis and 2 Wii Us. Nothing was ever wrong with the consoles themselves but he would buy one play the hot new game for it and then the console would sit there collecting dust and he would trade it in. Then a game comes out he would want to play and so he would go and buy another console. The cycle rinsed and repeated for years.

I want the Switch to do well. I want to see quality games released and to convince me to add it to my edc next to my surface pro.

Except, it is. Sales continue to be great as proven by Nintendo’s own reports. They’ve recently increased shipments by a lot which is why they can be easier to find in some places. Personally I’ve seen more at Target the few times I’ve been there whereas Walmart loses them as soon as they come in.

You read that survey a bit wrong. It was comparing what is the primary way of play and the most I think was a mix of both. Then again Nintendo didn’t make it easy to read.
Nintendo-Switch-Hybrid-Usage-Survey-1024x579.png

It seems like 20% mostly TV, 50% both, and 30% mostly handheld.

Except there’s nothing to worry about. All of Nintendo’s development power will be behind the Switch rather than split between two consoles and third parties, except apparently EA, are happy with sales of the system and their games.

This is what concerns me:

The comparisons are pretty cringe worthy in spots. Half asleep ports won't help the Switch one bit, neither will 30fps as its standard.

Going from 60 frames per second to 30 is a HUGE drop in performance. Like going from 60 fps to over 80, you can never go back to 60. Got to love the PC.

You see, “omg worse grafix and tech!!!”

I see, “cool, I don’t have to buy something else to play this game,” and so do others. They also see, “cool, portability.”

If this is what you care about most just stick to your PC.

Edit: here’s a pretty good new comparison of DOOM. Idk about you guys, but the fact that a console that’s pretty much the size of a tablet is this close to the other versions is amazing.

And in about 5-7 years when it’s time for Switch 2 it’ll likely be more powerful than a base PS4. Maybe close to Pro. That’s amazing to think about for a portable hybrid.

More proof Blizzard is the best gaming company on the planet.

If you purchased StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty before October 31 2017 you will have the Heart of the Swarm expansion for free!

There will be a little gift box in the Blizzard launcher and you have to have SC2 installed.

Freebie ends December 8!

This does not surprise me one bit, Telltale Games products have gone down the crapper since they won all the awards from the first season of The Walking Dead.

Also I think people finally figured out while they say the games adapt to the choices you make that’s really not true at all. Sure you might get a different dialogue choice but ultimately you’re still playing the story Telltale wants to tell you and you won’t change the outcome no matter what you choose.

All that being said, some of their stories are good, some are bad and in some games, like the latest Walking Dead, you do some/ are a part of some very repulsive things. One of my biggest eyerolling moments ever was at one point in the second season of the Walking Dead there are all these adults planning an escape yet the make a child do all the dangerous things. Now the child was the player character and I understand people will be forced to make crazy decisions during the zombie apocalypse but come on now, no one could be that cold.

Telltale should take a bit of a lesson from DONTNOD Entertainment, who did Life is Strange, on how to do a narrative that your choices influence the game.

I'm playing back through the Walking Dead S1 right now. Of the Telltale games that I've played through my favorite has to be Tales from the Borderlands, it was such a fun silly adventure.

Anyway, there’s new Harry Potter games coming. Hopefully WB doesn’t microtransaction the crap out of them like Shadow of War.
https://www.pottermore.com/news/por...games-inspired-by-jk-rowlings-wizarding-world

I saw this and also a post saying a Pokemon Go style Harry Potter mobile game was in the works. A friend of mine made an actual parody video of Pokemon go but Harry Potter last year during the hype. Guess his parody might be reality soon.

Hey look I have a gift box in my Blizzard Launcher :D

I know right? Looks like Blizz will have the last expansion for SC2 on sale black Friday for under $10.

Life is Strange was such a creepy game, I loved every second of it. Not hearing to much good about the sequel prequel thingy but thats what Steam sales are for.

I also loved Tales from the Borderlands, that was, in my opinion the best Telltale game they made. From what I read Telltale considers it a flop and there is no sequel in the works.

Despite what some of you may think about me regarding recent exchanges....

Its a discussion thread about gaming, you have your likes I have mine others have theirs, if we can't discuss things, even if exchanges get a little extreme then why bother? I assure you and everyone my feelings won't be hurt because people have strong convictions about their games, we are only human.

Edit- Can't spell today.
