So after one little port of FIFA EA is done with their Switch support citing the usual wait and see BS while the system flies off shelves.

And then we look at Bethesda, someone who hasn’t supported Nintendo since the NES, announcing Skyrim for the Switch and then following up with DOOM and Wolfenstein 2 before Skyrim even releases.

At this point I think Nintendo should just stop seeking out EA’s support. They clearly have some kind of beef. Maybe it’s because Nintendo console owners have better judgement and don’t fall for their BS?

In a way you could see it as them realizing PlayStation is the biggest thing they’ve got going for them and wanting to exploit it further but it still sucks.

Now it’ll just leave Nintendo as the sole console manufacturer that doesn’t push microtransactions.

Coming soon to the Switch, Microtransactions !!!!!
Technically it’s already there with Amiibo but it’s still not very intrusive at all. The biggest fiasco it had was the hard difficulty mode for Metroid but then it turned out there already was a hard mode and what it was was pretty much “extra hard” mode and idk about anyone else but normal mode has already been a bit difficult for me at just the right amount.

Blizzcon started today with some big and small announcements. From the opening ceremony.

Starcraft 2 - Wings of Liberty is free to play. Expansions still have to be purchased.

Hearthstone is getting a new single player mode as well as an expansion pack. Kind of standard stuff for them.

Heroes of the Storm is getting feature updates as well as two new heroes - Hanzo and Alexstrasza

The biggest thing would be World of Warcraft Classic. Now we know why Blizzard has been going after some of the largest unofficial WoW classic servers.

Next Expansion is Battle for Azeroth.

So with all the fluffy good news from Blizzard we do have some sad news. Runic Games, the studio behind the Torchlight series, has shut it's doors. What started out as a few Diablo developers wanting to push the genre a bit turned into two great games. I just started a play through with friends of Torchlight 2 yesterday.

Gigantic developer Motiga has had massive lay offs. A small team is left to work on Gigantic.

Just a note on the WOW Classic Servers, 2020 is when it's looking like they will be coming, Blizzard have a lot to do to make it work and up to a proper playable standard that the fans expect.

I'm behind the live streams by about 30 minutes do to pausing and stopping for work. 2020 seems a bit far in the timeline to fill peoples desires of a Classic server. Unofficial ones are still going to keep popping up at this point.

The problem is it is not a simple case of just loading up the original game to servers and that's it. The original was full of bugs and exploits that Blizzard needs to eradicate and they have to get it working on the modern server setups that they now have and it will need a polish to bring it up to standard so it will take a lot of coding etc to do.

Oh I know for Blizzard it's a thing of pride that they won't just release a server with just the old software running it. It will most likely be using the current engine version with it's feature set. With that I would expect keeping the updated graphics settings and options. I mean I have nostalgia playing at 1024x768. Doesn't mean I still want to.

Overwatch is possibly the biggest game in the world, any news is good news. Funny one of the people asked during the QA session if there were plans for a real Blizzard World and Blizzard said no.

As for vanilla servers, stupid idea. I don't think people remember just how freaking challenging vanilla was, almost to the point of being impossible at times, unless you, gasp, teamed up with others to tackle things. Spamming trade for groups was how you made a group to tackle dungeons, and lets not get started on 40 man raids that actually needed 40 people. Players are too casual now, the game has been fine tuned and simplified, vanilla died and should stay dead.

As for the next expansion, meh, its the filler expansion before the next big storyline, it holds true to any and all past expansions, the next expansion will be the big announcement, this one will put that one into motion,

Blizzcon is a spectacular every year. Its a true tribute to the fans and hypes Blizzard's upcoming products. Granted pretty much all of Blizzards games are home runs and huge sellers and you can't really say that about other publishers, but it makes me wonder why all gaming publishers don't do this for their fans.

BTW, Chris Hardwick is terribad, bring back Jay Mohr.

Back when Paladins were brought into raids just for the buffs and to heal. I remember having to coordinate blessings on 40 people with 4 other Paladins. It was a logistical nightmare. Addons helped but still. I'm curious to see what Blizzard does for Classic. They know the evolution of the game and that some of the old mechanics weren't that great to begin with. It's part of the reason they never created a Classic server to begin with.

Looks like the Xbox One X could be Microsoft’s last console. Not only have they talked about generations being done for them before, https://www.polygon.com/2017/4/15/15272458/xbox-scorpio-pc-backward-compatibility-microsoft

Now they’re talking about going third party and putting their games on other consoles, even PS4.
