So I assume there is something magnetic keeping the head on the body, and there must be a drive mechanism in the head that allow it to move around. I also assume there is another weighted drive mechanism inside the ball that drives it's motion.
That is what I have been thinking as well.

I am picturing a magnet and wheels much like an old mouse ball in the head. Inside the body would be another magnet connected to an elongated shaft with a counter weight at the end.

Question - in the new trailer who is Luke speaking to when he says -

The Force is strong in my family, my father had it, I have it, my sister has it and you have it ???
I haven't been following the rumors closely, but my guess would be that it's Daisy Ridley's Rey.
Yeah based on the little bit we do know, I'd guess he was speaking to Rey or Finn. Though I sorta doubt it would be Finn, as so far he appears to be more like Han Solo was in the original trilogy (friend, fighter, pilot, etc.) rather than a Jedi knight who uses the Force.

Though it could also be just a line used for the trailer only, and never spoken in the film itself. Remember in one of the early teasers for Ep 3...it starts off with a quote from Obi-Wan in A New Hope talking about the Sith & the darkside.

Guys, the Luke dialogue was straight from Return of the Jedi, when Luke is talking to Leia on Endor (hence "My father HAS it")....Darth Vader is dead.

Also, AWESOME TRAILER!!!!! Is it December yet?
Except that He says "My father has it, I have it, My sister has it, and now you have it."

Right, I think I have the answer to my own question. Although the teaser is from the new Ep 7 I think the quote is from Ep 6 when Luke is telling Princess Leia that they are brother and sister

This is what I sketched up. Not sure if it's how they did it ,but the drive wheels would operate 180 degrees from each other. So, to turn left, the right and left center wheels would turn. To go forward, the top and bottom center wheels. Same with diagonal.

The base would be weighted to keep the actual unit "upright", as the wheels would always return to center. Weight alone would do this, as long as the wheels never got too far in one direction.

The head iteself would stay centered to the top of the "pole" using magnets, and is movable using wheels that are out of sight (though, it could be done with magnets as well).

Again, very rough, but if I put more than 15 minutes, I'm sure it could be figured out. But why? Someone will on the net. :P

Chewie looks like he hasn't aged a day...TIE fighters got a new interesting sound to them...

The metallic storm trooper guy...A Darth character?
He's a Chrome Trooper, and very likely the lady from Game of Thrones inside it (though, that's a guess on my part).

More of a Boba Fett style character, I suspect.

Also, Chewie ages slower, as do all Wookiees. He's already something like 200 years old in Episodes IV - VI. That would have made him middle aged (Wookiee lifespan is something like 400 - 500 years), and 30 years (which is already confirmed this film is 30 years after RotJ) wouldn't really be that long for him. So, it makes sense.

Pardon my asking, but any chance Yoda will be making a comeback for E:VII? I can't recall his fate from the final movie (I'm much more versed in the prequel trilogy - DON'T SHOOT! :D )

So where do we think "home" is? The Falcon?
Yes. My guess is that the Falcon got lost at some point, and the planet they are on (the one that looks like Tatooine, but is confirmed through interviews that it isn't, it's called Jakku, and is a spaceship graveyard. The character of Rey is a scrapper on the planet. That's why you see all those hulks of old ships.

I suspect part of the plot will be Han and Chewie looking for, and finding, the Falcon (the background is obviously the Falcon in the scene where the robot peers around the corner...so, it makes sense).

I think that will be a scene where Han and Chewie are exploring the falcon, and meet the robot and the scrapper girl.

No. He passed away from old age. He is featured as a Force Ghost in Jedi, but I doubt we'll see him (at least not in Ep 7...force ghosts may make appearances in Ep 8 or 9...remember, this is a movie where they are setting up a trilogy arch)

JJ Abrams could pull a great prank with this if he really wanted to. While all the folks at Celebration are seeing the actual trailer...he could have a tribute to Jar Jar Binks or Anakin's most memorable tantrums play out on the live feed. Could you imagine the outrage?
That would have been incredible.

I wish he'd done that! Watching the fans rage and then a few hours later drop the real one. That would have been amazing.
