This I love about how JJ does projects.
Which also has me optimistic that there may still yet be another fan favorite hiding offstage waiting to be revealed in this movie somehow. A certain leader of Cloud City. One can hope.
One can hope... Was very surprised Luke/Mark Hammil did the narration for this teaser, so surprised I had to watch it over and over again and will do so on my big-screen when I get home.

It looks as if JJ has done his homework with this.
Take the main big bad, Kylo Ren. He seems to have all the traits fans loved about Maul and Vader...combined into one kickarse character. The same with this metalic storm trooper having a nod to the Fett fans. It looks to be done well enough for fans of those older characters, but without making it appear recycled.
Still holding my breath until we see the final product, but so far, all seems well in the galaxy far, far away.

Everything looks right so far. I mean, the two teasers could not have been more on the money for what the film needs to look and feel like to truly be a worthy member of the Star Wars canon.
This teaser suddenly made Age of Ultron look small and unimportant.

I would guess they would put the same teaser in front of Ultron, it's not like Avengers needs something like this to drive it's box office.

Agreed, JJ seems to have it spot on. It is an extremely tough thing to do to make something feel fresh while at the same time, like you said, not make it recycled or completely lose the original feel. Being a star wars nut I remember seeing the trailer for EP1 and while I was excited, it was not this same feeling. With these 2 trailers, I get the same feelings as when I saw star wars originally. December can not come quick enough. MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!

I will admit (with great shame) that I doubted this project when it was first announced. My first thoughts were: Why?? The Empire has fallen. Balance has been brought to the Force. There is nothing left to tell without seeming unneeded, or made-for-TVesque.
Now, after seeing what we're getting, and how this is panning out so far, I feel it time to eat those words. Pass a spoon please?

So I assume there is something magnetic keeping the head on the body, and there must be a drive mechanism in the head that allow it to move around. I also assume there is another weighted drive mechanism inside the ball that drives it's motion.

We know what to expect from The Avengers at this point. It'll be good, but people won't be suprised that it is.
Star Wars? There hasn't been a good movie in that series in over 30 years. If Episode 7 delivers, it will be a HUGE deal to not only die-hard fans, but pretty much everyone.

I haven't been following the rumors closely, but my guess would be that it's Daisy Ridley's Rey.
