Rumor The EPCOT Hotel

I'd be very happy if the hotel just looked like a hotel version of this

but the horizons hotel is most likely going to be a pipe dream

A hotel in the World Showcase would be just fine. Give EPCOT a new country and tie in a hotel. Give it the DCA Grand Californian treatment - everyone wins.

That said - the entrance to EPCOT could use a new vision (or maybe the WESTCot grandiose entrance that never happened).

That's where I start to draw the line. I'm fine with tiny clubs being in the parks but a whole hotel? It just would take up space that could be used for an attraction and would either be too small to have enough rooms to be profitable, or too many and take too much space. Just no

Edit: I'm talking about INSIDE the park, at the gate is fine I don't care

What if it were built behind the Energy building using the mass of the hotel to sort of de-emphasize the height of the Gravity building for their new GotG coaster...it would be off to the side and not compete with the central corridor view. The hotel could have it's own entrance into the park...Or...create a hotel that takes it's design cue from the 1939 World's Fair... The mass of the hotel would step back from the central spine and create a new structure to enhance the entrance...? Just a thought...

EPCOT has plenty of space and it wouldn't be the first theme park to build in a hotel.
I don't see why building this at the gate is fine rather than on an open plot of land.

Exactly! 23 square miles worth of land and they have to build on theme park property..Not a fan of entering a futuristic park only to look up and see this standing on a balcony....

but spaceship Earth is right in the front of the park, the castle, tree, movie ride are all much further in the center of the park.

I'd actually be OK with a hotel directly in front of Epcot. Redo the giant Monorail station..

The problem is, and I didn't think about this until you mentioned, "..but SSE is right in front of the park..," it would screw with that. It'd have nearly the same feeling as the hat in front of the theater (incredibly close). If the graveyard was maybe 2-3 times the size then it might work. As it is now, it'd be like looking out of your hotel window and only seeing part of the side of SSE (not quite that bad but it'd be off).
