The Enchanted Tiki Room set to reopen later in 2011 after sustaining fire damage

Steve is this official from Disney or just info from a source? I only ask cause it goes against what all the attractions cast members in adventureland have been told.

I'm not following as to what your asking is official? Is it whether the ride is reopening in March or whether there won't be changes?

Even what might seem like a small modification takes a lot more work than just changing a CD and taking out a few birds. Lighting and special effects programs need to be rewritten. Elements from the original show that were removed would have to be added back in. Even the staffing would have to shift to reflect differences in show length. Seems simple, but in reality it is a project. That is why as technology continues to increase they look at ways to make fast switches to attractions. Toy Story Mania is a great example of this.

Toy Story Mania in my opinion is crap.

Anyways, it's not like Disney would have to spend as much money on it as they would refurbishing Country Bear Jamboree, or replacing WOL pavilion, or Destroying the imagination pavilion.

In other words, I don't care how long it takes, I just want Disney to get back up with it's original magic in the animatronic shows. Those are what Disney had that other parks didn't, ACTUAL GOOD dark rides and animatronic shows.

Reopening in March. All the information before had been point to June or July. Plus there seems to be conflicting rumors running around over what people have heard. The last rumor I heard was that it was ordered that repairs to Uh-Oa where to stop. Before that all rumors pointed to UNM returning.

Unfortunately it is a no win situation with this attraction. Before they made the change to the current show attendance was low, they made the change and attendance is still low and the current show is pretty bad (at least in my opinion). So even if they went back to the old show attendance would still most likely be bad so putting money into it to bring it back does nothing for the company. And to put something else in there also is a big challenge because the footprint is so small.
I agree completely. Disney did not change the original show for no reason. Guests as a whole were sick of it. A change back to the original would do nothing more than spike attendance for a few months to a year tops. After that we would be right back to where we are now.

Right now was simply not a good time to have any attraction closed. ToonTown is getting ready to close its doors forever and when that happens MK is going to need every attraction they have up and running.

Hopefully we will see a re-do of this show in the not so distant future. Personally I would love to see a return to just the birds (no characters) but add a random element to it. Have a consistent opening and possibly closing song but mix up the play list for the middle.

I'd love to see it with a technology that has the birds interacting (or at least seemingly interacting) with the crowd.

I think they should just stop calling this an attraction all together. Make it a restaurant as was the original idea. Don't they have a closed restaurant right next to it? Combine the two and use the original show while people eat there.

I think that this is nothing but good news. It shows that even for a show that, yes, may not bring in the biggest crowds, they still are willing to put the money and work into it to open it back up rather then to just let it sit closed for who knows how long.

I will be the first to admit that the tiki room is not one of my fav shows, but I do enjoy it.

I think this is a nice example of how TDO tried to take a classic attraction and add touches of modern day Disney so that it would be able to appeal to both children and adults.

I still say they should write a new show based off of a Polynesian or Hawaiian legend involving birds and tiki gods that could be told through song. Start with the orginial enchanted tiki room song but revamped and rerecorded to be more of a modern classic sound or more traditional Hawaiian in sound. Tell the story that would be heart warming and funny using new effect in the theater, could even install the Davy Jones screens for needed projection effects and at the end when every one is happy and exiting the theater they could exit out into a preview for Aulani to help fund the new show.

Maybe back in the 90s, but the music now even the lyrics that Iago uses is horribly outdated, the show irritates with that awful Iago voice and, children from what I have seen, small ones anyway are terrified of the red eyed evil polynesia that comes up in the middle. Plus its not nice how the show literally mocks itself, thats kinda like saying the Imagineers or TDO whomever it was wanted to do nothing but make fun of the original and call it crap. They could make it a lot nicer for both children and families such as with the stitch version from tokyo. I know many dont want stitch in there but its a cute show and better than the atrocity it is now. At least change the show name already!!! Thats all personal opinion of course but anyway, just saying.

DO NOT change Carousel of Progress!! If anything, update the last scene with a "newer future". The video game that Grandma plays is just...well, it's outdated and TOO cheesy. Update that and leave it... LOVE Carousel of Progress

You appear to be in a minority, and Disney is not in the business of appealing to minority opinions.

Dude it's just my opinion. I'm not fascinated with screens you shoot at with small special affects.

We all have opinions and sometimes nobody else likes it, not like it matters

I just hope that one day, I shall see a newly refurbed, complete performance of "In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room" without any rude interruptions. That is my simple wish.

Your wish has already been granted. At Disneyland, every 20 minutes.

This quick reopening is a lost opportunity for the Magic Kingdom.
