details please, so what happens in place of the fountain??

I've been checking on this thread, but I'm torn...I'll be in the World in 5 days, and I don't know if I want to know the details yet (although, again, if I wanted to avoid, I probably shouldn't be in this thread :ROFLOL:).

Ah who am I kidding. I'm sure I'll be back later to see what I can find (I'll skip videos though, to preserve some anticipation).

Unfortunately...nothing. It's just an object with tikis carved into it, flowers on top. Some smoke rises out...it doesn't look bad, but it's too bad they couldn't do something! no reference to the fountain either. I have the whole show on video, need to upload it yet!

Thanks for the report. A bit dissapointing they did nothing more there, obviviously now to save a buck. But, like some said down the road the fountain may be reinstalled, but Ill believe it when I see it. Oh well, if the show itself is great once again thats fine.

At what point in the show does the smoke rise out from? During the luau segment before the storm hits?

I'll be looking forward to that video.

If they were not going to use the pedestal for anything more than smoke, then why have it there at all? If there is no fountain, (and unlikely to ever be put back in IMHO) then why not just rip it all out so you have more room inside?

Does the smoke have any purpose in the show? If so, do tell. If this is the case then OK. But couldn't they have done it an other way instead of the large mostly useless pedestal

The fountain/pedestal serves as a barrier to keep people from getting too close to the bird mobile.

As for those complaining about its demise, I just don't get the big deal. The fountain only played a role in the Offenbach sequence. I don't hear ANYBODY begging to bring that snoozer back. So why is it so important?

I thought it was worse when they ripped out the fountain in the Country Bear Jamboree. What's that you say? There was no fountain in CBJ? Hmm. I guess that show would have been 1000 times better with a fountain.

Just because it was part of the original show. Fortunately, Disneyland kept theirs despite no longer having the Offenbach number. The fountain shoots up and escorts the bird mobile down from the ceiling. Not that big a deal, it was just always there...

Isn't anyone sad that we lost the voice talents of two amazing actors who are no longer with us?

Phil Hartman in the preshow and Jerry Orbach as the French bird (Pierre?). I loved the old show and I loved those voices. The preshow was hilarious, how often do you have the opportunity to see two major talents like Don Rickles and Phil Hartman trade one-liners.

I, for one, am sad.

Thank you for your responce Skyway. Yes, it does make sense for a pedestal for the reason stated. But since it is there, shouldn't it have a function of some kind?

Does not need to be a fountain, (all though it would have been nice to do so.) But some function would be nice. Will be interesting to see video. Like to see how much smoke it pours out and if it has a purpose to the show. If this is the case then I am fine with it.

As far as the Offenbach sequence, INHO it did not belong in the show in the first place. (There, I said it!)

But lets be honest. They had a lot of time here to add fountain or some other new element and did not do it.

I'm not. Never liked it. Then again, I'm not crazy about the original WDW pre-show either. I like the DL version.

Indeed, they should have, since they had to put something there anyway. So why not put a fountain back in? It at least got a mention in the edited version. They had a chance to revamp it and make it do something special as it rose up to meet the bird mobile. Oh well...

Fountain, no fountain...its the Tiki Room, does it really matter? In a month we'll never mention the attraction again. It had poor attendance before UNM, poor attendance after UNM and it will have poor attendance now. Its just not that great a show. Its original greatness was due to people seeing all the animatronics in one place for the first time. We now have Hall of Presidents, American Adventure, Pirates and so on and so on, so there really is no draw for this attraction other than nostalgia, and even at that its usually not worth the wait.

Yeah, I'm kinda over attractions like this. So is the general public. Honestly I'm tired of being in WDW and hear ppl from 6 - 60 say the word "lame". It's time for Disney to be innovative again instead of bringing back tired old attractions.

Wow it has its first soft opening and the haters have already started cause it is not what it should have been.....

It is the Tiki Room, it is not going to be the original (that is gone forever) it can't be the DL version because as we talked about months ago the water lines were capped. It is as close to the real Tiki Room as you can get, I am guessing from the brief description given, so either be happy or start another thread about changing the Tiki Room........
