The Dreamfinder rumor, from a slightly different source...

Enigma

Unless someone has photos or someone with a little more credibility confirms I believe that this rumor about Baxter and Lasseter showing up at WDW to take alook at things is fanboy wishful thinking. The imagineer in charge of WDW is Tom Fitzgerald and his video projections team.

Oh, I can assure you that they were staying at WDW. I don't know anything more than that, but they were most definitely on property for at least a couple of days.

uggg, and video projections is his answer to everything, its all he knows how to do especially at Epcot. I guess JII is next on his list, sadly.

It's great to hear that John Lasseter cares about Imagination. What was Tony Baxter doing there? is'nt he just in charge of Disneyland projects now?

JII is part of his legacy. It's what gives this rumor credibility in my eyes.

The info about Lasseter I got first hand since I witnessed him and mcphee before during and after the ride!
The Future World West managment team stated that it was 'for business' not just taking lasseter around for fun.

Thanks!

Who is your source? (Before a bunch of you vouch for jedimaster--I'm looking for at least a general source, not merely people vouching). He gave you his.

If you are looking for general, I'll say its in-company. I didn't ask for his source, rather if it was firsthand, but if I wasn't specifically clear on that, it is my fault.

Pardon my skepticism but can anyone else confirm John Lasseter and Jim Mcphee toured Imagination on Friday. Jedi says he heard second hand and the first hand report is from someone who has very few posts so I'm finding this very hard to believe. I just have a feeling this would have been much bigger news on the blogs.

Technically I did hear secondhand, but this/these reports have come from a person that has yet to be proven wrong thus far in anything they have given me.

I wouldn't call that "substantive". I would normally ignore this rumor but Jedi seems to confirm it so I am curious as to if this rumor is actually true. If it is then I think the rehab may happen soon.

I have said before that Epcot's 2009/2010 project wasn't affected by the budgetary cuts made for the 40th... :animwink:

It's more substantive than the vague blurbs Jedi typically posts. Sorry if I'm overly skeptical, I just can't recall a time he ever posted anything more than an extremely vague rumor. Anyone who reads Disney forums could just as easily post the same type of things. I doubt the veracity of his rumors as much as I doubt this new guy's.

When I post vaguely, it is done so to only give the information that I can give at that moment in time. There have been plenty of times when I have come outright and stated what I've heard, but this isn't one of those times when I'm ready to do so. In regards to my being far more quiet on the forums lately, I'm far more selective and careful about what I've said because I've found that people are quoting me on things I've hinted at or posted--taking them to other forums or websites--all the while using my name rather than my username. I'd prefer Disney not think that I'm spilling secrets, considering I'm still working diligently towards a career within their ranks. I say what doesn't cross lines and only such. While nothing I'll ever post will be solid proof until official announcements are made, I do post to provide what I know and can tell without risk.

Just think... I could start spilling haiku's...

I didn't mean any disrespect. I think Jedi has to be vague because I believe one of his relatives is an exec. at Disney and he (Jedi) wants to work for WDC someday. I just appreciate he is allowed to post here and he is willing to do so.

I don't have any blood or family relation within the Walt Disney Company, but all concerns still apply. My restraint is very much related to my goals for a future at WDC.

I didn't mean any disrespect either. If one of his relatives is an executive (or similarly situated) then his knowledge would make sense. I love what he posts (confirmed, blue sky, or otherwise), I just am skeptical because I have never read anything that gives me reason to not be skeptical.

I'm glad you enjoy my posts--I do it for others, and not for myself. As always, I'm not offended if people don't believe what I post or are skeptical. Age aside, without an official stamp or name of credit to any information, what is a rumor if not just a rumor? I understand that without issue, so there is never any offense taken!

I've not heard of Baxter being present at this meeting, though I have heard that he's still supervising the historical aspects of the project. His fingers have always been dipped in the Imagination pavilion's original iteration and all related aspects. In the least, he has been consulted on its redevelopment.

The WDI setup is ridiculous. They have Tony Baxter for Disneyland Park' Bob Weiss for DCA' Joe Rohde for DAK and Tom "Video Screens Rule" Fitzgerald in charge of 3/4ths of WDW. By the way' Adam, In what capacity do you want to work for the Walt Disney Company?

You may not believe it, but Lasseter is at WDW quite a bit. While I hope it is a good sign for Imagination, I don't know if this is a huge deal.

That is pretty wonky. We definitely need/deserve better in WDW.

But all his attention thusfar has been directed towards DLR. I really wish he'd try to do something about the Adventurers Club...

I just hope that Lassiter imagines up some new things...and does not Pixarize it.:zipit:

Honestly, ANYTHING Pixarized might be better than leaving it sit like this.
:brick::zipit:

(I know, what I said was dripping with sarcasm: But I'm actually all for a Dreamfinder & Figment animated by Pixar in addition to AAs. I feel very much they'd treat the material right. Better than WDI did, that's fer sure!)

Jedi, not that it matters to you, but you've eliminated any skepticism I've had with the above post. Keep the 'good word' flowing here when you are able!

(Also, thanks for not taking what I wrote the wrong way!)

Now, just what are the suits doing at WDW? I wonder if it's time to get start solidifying 40th plans? It seems those plans would already be solidified, so maybe they are just fine-tuning the plans? Determining what can be cut in a cost-cutting move?

It appears to me management has everything underway for Phase 1 of DCA and most of the changes for DRP so that now it's WDW's turn.

I've said it before, WDW faces serious competition from not only Potterland and Sea World but also Dubai Land. I think this is a motivating factor. The 40th anniversary timing is the perfect "excuse" for some major additions and rehabs.

By the way' Adam, In what capacity do you want to work for the Walt Disney Company?

I am still torn on the subject considering I have interests in both Imagineering and in Management. Since I will be studying Hospitality Management with a specialized track in Theme Park Hospitality and Management at the Rosen School of Hospitality, I'm likely going to end up working in management. Ultimately, I've set my sights on a management role at Epcot, but my dreams go far beyond Orlando's base. I've already got some concepts and plans to get some experience at some of the other resorts (I've got aim at Tokyo, Paris and Disneyland)...

I really wish he'd try to do something about the Adventurers Club...

Maybe not him, but someone is. While it likely won't return in the same form after the Holidays (and the Superbowl), it may very well return in some capacity as a new concept--one which I'm a full supporter of; that is, if they can pull it off.

I'm flattered to hear that, and will say that it does matter to me. It is for these reasons that I post what I do, so it definitely matters!

As for the 40th, I've been told that this inspection/run through is a part of a larger resort checkup. Certain things have been potentially halted, but alot of things have still been kept on the yellow light, waiting for the yes or no from management. The visit didn't just hit Epcot, but all four parks with specific positives coming out of each visit. At least one project (each) for Epcot and Magic Kingdom have been kept in the plans for the 40th with Hollywood Studios and more impressively, Animal Kingdom potentially in with additional projects. Animal Kingdoms' project(s) moreso than any continue to renew my faith that the park has an extremely bright (or should I say, lit up) future... :animwink:

As long as it

a) Remains a well-themed and immersive experience.
b) Remains PG-13 and above.
c) Retains live entertainment.

I don't have a problem with it being reborn in some fashion. I just don't want to lose the things that made it great.

Hopefully this "checkup" will result in the Yeti and all the issues with the Seas with Nemo to be taken care of.
