The difference

I've heard that DL pays its CM's a good bit more than WDW, but this is probably out of necessity, since living in California is a lot more expensive than living in Florida.

I think this thread's title is too enigmatic. Although it could be fun to try this style:

Title: Chicken

Body: Which is scarier, Space Mountain or RoRC?

Title: One sock, two sock

Body: Ever get home and realize you left your shoes in WDW?

r u mocking me?

I am sure you didn't need to ask to work out the answer. :ROFLOL:

I would imagine that as everything in California cost more then wages would reflect that. But you would think WDW wages would increase due to the low unemployment in Orlando but it seems so many jobs are crap paid and that all employers keep the wages low so they stay low. In California some places raise the wages so others have to except Disney hasn't raised them enough so is struggling to get staff.

Just did a quick check, and I woud assume they start most peopleat minimum wage.
CA-$8.00
FL-$6.79

I bet they start all basic jobs right at minimum wage.

DL CP's get paid considrably more than WDW CP's, so DL CM's get paid more. However, this is, as other posters have said, out of necessity because Cali is expensive!

Disneyland currently advertises it's "Starting Pay" in newspaper ads at between "$9.05 and $10.50 per hour" for entry level positions.

California minimum wage is currently $8.00 per hour. So Disneyland is just over a dollar above that minimum wage.

I imagine different Disneyland departments pay more than others, which would explain the dollar and fourty five cent spread between the starting rates.

Probably because disneyland does provide housing either which means their rent would be considerably higher than the rent at disney world

The DL CP pays more. But that is because housing is more expensive, you have to be in a union, and there is no transportation (thank goodness the WDW includes that).

I think the two programs would actually even out though with pay vs. rent and cost of living. Transportation is another story though. Oh, and not all departments at DLR are unionized- ent. being one of them!
