I have things to say but I just post them later. So that is my question to you.
Difference between a fan, fanatic and overly obessed? Include Disney if you want I dont care.

The dfference is............................Quantity

A fan will do something for enjoyment and do it when they are able. eg visit the parks, visit the web site etc, etc.

A fanatic will do it more often, sometimes foresaking other things to do it.

The overly obsessed will indulge in their passion at every single moment, living and dreaming their passion to the point where their life is ruled by it.

Welcome to the website for the overly obsessed

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I think Hook pretty much hit it right on the dot. A fan is someone who enjoys something but won't go to great depths for it. A fanatic is someone who enjoys a thing more and will do some things for it but won't go very far. Those who are obsessed will do anything and go anywhere to get what they want until they have it.

Example:

A Disney fan would watch their movies and like them (movies, vacation at WDW, DL, etc)

A Disney fanatic would go to an opening day of a Disney movie and look forward to seeing new things at the parks.

And someone overly obsessed can't get enough. Their room is nothing but Disney, they eat/breathe/sleep Disney, go to movie premiers before the general public can see them and so on. They not only look forward to new rides at WDW but get there for the opening day. They know the insider information and live off of anything that's Disney. They think about it 24/7/365 and can't get enough. Anything the see/smell/feel, etc reminds them of something Disney. (The list could go on and on of how someone is obsessed and can be seen in my 20+ page obsession thread.)

Thats most people on this site. But definently not all people including me. I got another thing to add: crying and calling to arms everytime an old, crappy, not crowded ride. And they think the world stops for disney

Umm you just totally described me. :lookaroun

All I seem to talk or think about is Disney/WDW related. My mom has asked me more than once to try to go an entire day (or even just an evening) without discussing Disney. It's really hard! Once I was banned from mentioning the D word. :lookaroun

Plus anyone who's ever seen my room knows what I'm talking about. Picture over a hundred stuffed Tiggers (among other things) all in one not so large bedroom. I'll have to take a pic and post it, it's quite a site! Anyone who comes over (like people I don't even know) seem to get taken up to the "Tigger room" by someone in the family. And now at family gatherings, aunts and uncles who I don't see too often always ask how much it's grown. They think it's sad that I have so many. (I have some that simply don't fit in the room, and the holiday ones have to go into hibernation in boxes in the basement. Poor Tiggers!). I have a few tiggers that get a bit confused, because when they talk, they still think they're the only ones. Umm yeah, now that ya'll probably think I'm crazy too...

Anyways, back on topic. Yup I think I fall into the overly obsessed category. (Is that good or bad? I vote good!)

A fan enjoys the topic and may have one or two pieces of merchandise pertaining to it. Example: I love watching the race
A fanatic is someone who will sit in the hotel room on vacation just to watch the race
WDW vs. Nascar? and collects some of the merchandise as budgets allow.
An obsession is someone wanting to whip anyone's butt for making light of his favorite driver crashing and now is out of contention for the championship. They also spend alot of money allowable in budgets to collect anything they can get their hands on about the said subject. Example:
Tony Stewert crashed and I thought Don's friend was going to need Xanax to get over it.

Fan, Fanatic, Obsessed? This is easy.

A fan = 1000 or less posts
A fanatic = 1000 - 3000 posts
Overly obsessed, needs attention, needs a shrink = 3000 plus posts

I was driving home last night listening to SSE and for some reason, the air coming through my vents smelled just like the ride. It was the greatest thing ever, and the fact that it happened while listening to it.

Obessed, some who will get neative comment for just being wrong so they say even though that wasnt the purpose. But then again how do you expect close minded people to understand.

Obession: Star Wars and Harry Potter, LOTR: A person who goes to to conventions and dresses up in those movies styles. And has everything from figures and so on.

A fanatic goes to the convention wearing normal clothes and gets a few memoriala item. And wear the clothes the character wear just on costume days and halloween

A fan just likes the books and movies
