The Dawn of a New Era for Disneyland

DCA needs to pull more of its own attendance weight for starters. Marvel and whatever becomes of Hollywoodland after its borders are expanded are pretty much their last chance, since the remodels as of late don’t seem to cut it
Honestly, they should have sacrificed the Pier and made DCA into a Star Wars/Marvel park. That would have leveled out attendance between the 2 parks finally.

.... or quick enough for the crowd levels they are marketing for.
Yes but that goes without saying and has been an issue long before SW:GE even broke ground.

The point is they are doing something about it, it just takes time and logistical changes to the resort. Your original post made it seem like they aren’t adding more attractions which is just not true.

I personally don’t think that would have made logistical or even financial sense. And honestly I think it wouldn’t have evened out attendance or even had an effect on crowding, it just would have moved the crowding issue to DCA instead. By putting both in DCA things would just end up being lopsided.

I don't agree. DL would have its original character and charm -- and worldwide customer base -- while DCA would pull in new visitors, who would also try DL while there. So DL would still be busy, while the trendy, new crowd would be going to DCA.

Overall, though, I think the right answer was to build Star Wars land only at Hollywood Studios in WDW, where they actually had the land and the capacity. As it stands, it seems that they are trying to cram WDW (with its "blessing of size") into a city block in Anaheim -- and along the way destroying, or at least overrunning, the character of Disneyland, simply because it does not have the room.

And the problem with this thinking is that then everyone would have been complaining that then Disneyland is getting nothing while the other domestic parks get all the investment. It was a complaint already heard around forums like this, Disney wasn't investing in Disneyland as they hadn't built anything substantial since Indy in 1995. Sorry but WDW isn't the only Disney domestic park that should get investment.

Also think about this, DCA just had a major investment in 2012 with Carsland. So pumping another 1 Billion+ in DCA to put both SW and Marvel would have been seen again as lopsided. So not only would the crowds be lopsided because all guests would be flocking to the new stuff in DCA, but then the investments would have been seen as lopsided. So now then not only would you have the fandom crying foul because DL is getting no investment, but you'd have Wall Street crying foul as well.

I'd be fine with the Galaxy's Edge they built at DL, and then an even larger one at WDW - I guess that could be what ends up happening since there's more room for expansion at WDW.

Even if they don't add any more attractions, the interactive hotel alone is enough to distinguish the WDW version from DL.
Disneyland does have room for a hotel right behind Baatu. People wouldn't have to cross the street to get to it like they do at DHS. They would also get better weather, larger land and a better theme park to visit afterwards.

All true points. That said, I don't see the location of the hotel as a negative at DHS. It is designed to be a seamless experience with the themed transport taking guests directly into Galaxy's Edge and back.
