^I actually went to Universal for the first time in March, and inadvertently rode it in its last month of operation. Glad I did now, but I must admit, it even had ME a little nauseated at the end.

BTTF3 is always on cable, it seems. Best one of the bunch IMO.

Oh no, I honestly haven't been on the ride in YEARS! But if rode it now, probably would hate it a bit, but as a kid.... it was the best! hehe

Actually the original BTTF has been on HBO loads lately.
And I watch it all the way through everytime.

I am such a geek.

I liked the second installment the best due to the fact that they went back to the events from the original. Talk about a confusing movie if you missed the beginning and only saw the two Martys running around

I might have to agree with you there... I do like how it went forwards and back to stuff from the original. :)
But love the characters, and M.J.F. has always been a long time fav.

^^ I found out two weeks ago that my friend had ONLY watched #2. I've gotta get him to take my boxed set for a little while and watch the whole trilogy.

...And I admit, I like #3 the best just 'cause of the train. :lookaroun

...Soooooo, how 'bout that Caped Crusader, huh? :lookaroun

I would say that you could just watch Batman and Batman Returns...skip Batman Forever (although Jim Carrey was a GREAT Riddler) and Batman & Robin.

Batman Begins goes without saying...that is just a phenomenal movie all around.

(I wasn't crazy about #3 because of the dismantling of the DMC! Whitewalls on a Deloreon?!?!??! Train rims?!!?!?!? )

I couldn't agree more!! Michael Keaton is the best Batman period... though Christian Bale has made me proud in Batman Begins, as I am sure he will continue to in Dark Knight.

annnnd... on the Train bit.
So did you go crazy when you saw the train at Universal or what?

I think Christian Bale is the best all-around Batman/Bruce Wayne.

Michael Keaton was the best Bruce Wayne though.

BTTF 2 is my favorite, then 1, then 3. They are all good, but 2 has just so many great moments to it. I remember the first time I went on that ride, blown away. I loved to ride it every time I went to Universal. I even got my picture with Doc Brown there once. Man, this guy looked just like Doc Brown, and when we took the picture, he said "Jiggowatts!". Awesome.

Peaches, love the Back to the Future quote you said you put on your myspace page. I've been watching BTTF over and over every time it's on. I get sucked into it, just like when Star Wars or Indiana Jones or even Jaws is on. Just have to watch it.

My favorite Batman, or Batman (ha!), is Michael Keaton and Christian Bale. I love the 1989 Batman film, that was HUGE when it came out. I like Batman Returns as well. Batman Forever was OK, Val Kilmer was OK as Batman, but Batman and Robin, ugh, Clooney was poor casting and that movie was awful. I walked out of the theatre on that one. The problems with Batman Forever and Batman and Robin is that they made it too campy for my taste. It was as if they made the 1960's Adam West Batman movie, just with a huge budget. But, that's just me.

Christian Bale is a great Batman. That movie was amazing. It's good to see the Bat franchise back on track. Nolan is doing a wonderful job with these films. I couldn't be happier.

Peaches, are you a Tim Burton fan by any chance?

Val Kilmer was okay as BATMAN but he was a horrible Bruce Wayne. I agree...George Clooney is a great actor...but he was not a wise casting choice for Batman.

The problem I have with Batman Forever and Batman & Robin was this...
Batman is "The Dark Knight" and Gotham is this dark, dreary, rough place...but those movies had more "neon" colors and bright shiny things in them, it made it more like a dumb kids movie than a Batman movie.

Umm...Batskates? Huh?

I did like the Riddler...he was played perfectly...but everything around him was this neon green color. Dark riddles that need to be solved in order to escape death or save lives is what the Riddler should've been all about...not invent a giant neon green blender that sucks people's brains. That's just dumb. Imagine the Riddler in a Nolan film. He'd be one sadistic punk...think Jigsaw from the Saw movies...with the charisma of the Riddler.

Ok, yes, I will totally give you that, now that you say it like that.
Good call.

Same movies I must watch in their entirety when they are on. And yes the last 2 Batmans in that series were pretty lame in my opinion as well...
like it was completely separate from the first 2 for sure.

Oh and yes... very much a Burton fan, indeed! :)

Keaton was great as Bruce Wayne. Heck, Keaton was great as Beetlejuice and Mr. Mom too! The 89 film has a nice feel to it, comic booky yet with a bit of reality to it. Nolan's has nothing but a nice reality feel to it, and I think that really adds to the characters and film as an added bonus.

Peaches, glad to hear you are a Burton fan. I love Tim Burton. Just love his stuff. Did you see Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D? I can't wait for Sweeney Todd to come out.

Jack Nicholson as the Joker was good, but I am really excited for Ledger's portrayal. I heard that for the Batman Begins, Nolan looked to Frank Miller's YEAR ONE Batman story, which was great, that is a great comic. For this new one and the Joker, I heard they gave Ledger a copy of Alan Moore's The Killing Joke. One of the best Batman comics ever in my opinion. A lot of people don't like this comic since they try to give the Joker an origin in it, but I really liked it. Alan Moore is a great writer.

Giving backstory or an origin to characters makes the viewers/readers get emotionally attached to the character. What made Spiderman so great? We got to see where Peter came from...we felt for him because he was the little guy. What would that movie be like if it started out with him having his powers? Or the opening scene shows him get bit by the spider without any knowledge of what he was like prior to getting the powers? What would it have been like if we didn't see him struggle with his new powers (trying to shoot the web, having the web get stuck to his lunch tray, etc.). We were on a journey with Peter and we loved it. Same with Batman Begins. We felt for Bruce. We even saw him get cocky and we actually felt disgust for him at times. This was perfect, it showed a young guy with all the money not knowing what to do with it...and we all wanted more from him.

The same goes with villains. If the Joker just shows up and is killing people and he has a stupid grin with makeup on...we don't really get attached to him. We know he's going to lose...we don't care though. There is no emotional hatred or attachment to him. (AKA, Spiderman 3...with Venom...who cared?!?!?!? Sure, he's a great villain, but his introduction and screen presence STUNK!) Sandman was better...but it was too rushed.

There is one villain that beat the odds to this theory. Darth Vader. He just showed up...no backstory, nothing...but he was still one bad mamma-jamma. His mysteriousness made us want to know more about him and then when the "I'm yo daddy!" heard 'round the world happened...we REALLY wanted to know more.

One of the best parts about the Joker is that he is just crazy. The Killing Joke tries to tell who he was before he became the Joker. I thought it was pretty cool, I actually felt bad for him before he became the Joker.

Darth Vader is one of the greatest villains ever. Him and Kurgan from Highlander, just two bad dudes looking for trouble.

Nice!

I saw a Delorean drive down the street once and I nearly fainted. It's such a great car. In high-school I was determined to have one for my first car. I wanted it to be all tricked out like in the movie. Never got it though. God, I am such a geek.

Feeling compassion for a villain makes that villain more special. It is almost as if he has duped you...put your guard down...and then strikes. When something like that happens, you feel disgust for him even more and want to see him fall. Having a backstory for the Joker and making you feel for him because something in the past went horribly wrong and scarred his vision of life...makes you sympathetic towards him...and then he does something so vile...so disgusting, so evil...that you are so mad that you actually had compassion for him. That, is when, the great villain is created.

:ROFLOL:That... is awesome!

I once worked for a guy, and his father-in-law had a De Loreon he was trying to sell... and I remember when they first told me about it...
it went a little something like this.....

Me -
"A De Loreon? Wait... A De-Lor-eon? Seriously?
Does it have a Flux Capacitor?
Cause if so, I might just be interested."
