Okay, so I didnt have a lot of time, especially after the use of the hourglass, but here's my entry:

Wonders of Weather:

Past a new logo, you will find Epcot's newest pavilion! Welcome to the Wonders of Weather. Here we celebrate the miracle of weather conditions as sunshine, rainfall, snowfall etc. The colour of the building will become blue-ish and a new telescope can be found on top of the pavilion. This telescope is supposed to read off the weather. The pavilion will have morals on the indoor walls with different weather conditions on Earth. The building won't host special events anymore but there will be a new building near the International gateway, where the special events are held. In the middle of the pavilion you can find a pond. Above the pond is a spinner that learns kids the process of precipitation. Guests will board clouds that turn around. On the point above the highest point is a sun( giant lamp) that causes the ''sea water'' to evaporate. The pond will play the role of the sea. As the clouds form you will see the vehicles bottom become blue-ish. The clouds actually take up water from the "sea" and when the vehicles are at the highest point they will actually let go of "rain". The rain won't soak anyone though. The ride will be called Cloud 9.
The second experience here is the Storm Labs. This ride will be a mix of the Armageddon special effects show from Paris and the Twister ride from Universal Studios. Enter these futuristic labs and see and experience different storms as tornadoes, blizzards, thunder storms etc. The ride will be about the control and the system behind some of the creating processes of storms. But something goes wrong and the storms become too powerful. Then we can go to the Skyrider. This will be a simulator ride taking you up into the sky to explore the weather conditions. Feel extreme heat from the sun, get electrocuded by lightning, get soaked by rain and freeze by snow in this new daring journey. It will be similar to the Stormrider ride from Tokyo DisneySea.
The last attraction will be the WeatherWorks tour. This will be an EMV boat ride teaching you about the creation of weather, the dangers and the ways how we take control of it. The ride will be an extreme version of living with the land. This ride will be a tour of the WeatherWorks factory. The ride's story is similar to Jurassic River Adventure where you now pass by different kinds of labs as the rain lab, wind turbine, snow lab etc. Something goes wrong and some weather conditions escape the factory.You are now asked to "catch" three kinds of weather conditions, the tornado, the thunder storm and the rainbow. A lot of effects are used in the ride. Near the attraction are minigames that teach guests about weather or let them create their own weather conditions in the WeatherWorks Creator Lab. Also in the pavilion is the Storm Struck exhibit from innoventions. Here you can see how the house of tomorrow resists all kinds of bad weather conditions. The houses will be upgraded and will be bigger to fit the pavilion better and so that there is more to see and to explore.
There will be a new quick service called The Winds' Directions and also a table service called Four Seasons Terrace. Also two new shops, the WeatherWorks depot and the Wonders of Weather store will be present. A small show called the Sunny Rain Cloud show will be a show for younger guests. Your hosts Sunshine and Rain Cloud will teach you something about weather in a musical and fun way. They will be audio animatronic puppets who are assisted by the cast members. Children are able to interact with the hosts and even get to make their own rain storms, tornadoes etc. The cast members will help the children here.

I really would like the judges once again for this great experience you are giving us.

Session 8 Concept Creation Challenge 2
@RMichael21

As part of Session 8 of The Creator Games!, contestants were tasked with brewing up a replacement for the now (slightly) abandoned Wonders of Life pavilion. With that, I'd like to introduce the...

Wonders of Innovation

This all new Future World pavilion, deemed Wonders of Innovation, will open in 2020 in the hardly used Wonders of Life pavilion area. Wonders of Innovation will focus on brand new technologies and innovations of the future, realizing the original idea for Epcot to showcase different aspects of the future.

Innoventions currently exists in Epcot and Disneyland. However, these versions are watered down ideas of showcasing new inventions. In addition, the Disneyland Innoventions is currently closed and Epcot's version is on the brink of closure as well. In this scenario, Innoventions has been closed (to make way for new attractions) and with that, I decided to strip the idea of Innoventions down to the very basics, showcasing new technology.

The Wonders of Innovation will use this idea in a World's Fair of the future setting. Guests can visit 2 attractions, a quick service restaurant, a merchandise location and countless booths showcasing new inventions, all in a futuristic World's Fair.

For this pavilion, I didn't want to overwhelm guests with a complicated backstory and theme. I wanted to keep it simple, just like every other Epcot Future World pavilion in the past and present has done. So, using the Word's Fair background allows Imagineers to tell a wonderful story while not getting to involved with a complicated message.

Facade/Theme/Structural Changes
The overall theme and facade of the pavilion will be changed to more closely match both the rest of Future World and a futuristic World's Fair. This means cleaner lines and a more futuristic look. While this is applied to the Wonders of Life pavilion, no structural changes will be made and the layout of the building will stay the same. (Thanks, Tiki!).

Before the re-theme

Adventure thru Inner Space - Simulator Attraction

Despite sharing the same name and back story as the original Disneyland attraction, this all new simulator will use new 4D effects to showcase a fictional professor's technology that allows guests to shrink to the size of an atom and travel through places never thought imaginable and bring this historic attraction into the 21st century. In order to differentiate this attraction from Star Tours, more 3D and 4D effects will be used than practical motion with the simulator.

This attraction will be placed exactly where Body Wars sat in the old Wonders of Life pavilion.

The extinct Body Wars attraction

This attraction returns to Epcot's roots of edutainment, where guests can learn while still having fun. This is shown in the interactive queue where guests can learn about molecules and science through a series of fun games and in the attraction itself. Once they have passed through the queue, they will board this simulator where they will hear from Dr. Goldernobe (the inventor of the technology) and then shrunken down to the size of a molecule and pass things such as a humongous snowflake and even a gargantuan dog! Adventures thru Inner Space will allow guests to get a brand new experience filled with opportunities to learn and loads of nostalgia.

Hologram Wars - Theater Show
Hologram Wars, will be an interactive theater show that will replace Cranium Command. Here, guests can design their own invention through the use of touch screens (similar to Test Track) and have the same invention showcased on stage by the manager of the World's Fair. Here, every invention is shown interacting with each other in a "fight" setting through the use of screens, projection and holographic technology.

This show is meant to showcase how projection and holographic images can help our every day life. But of course, these begin to malfunction and they take on a life of their own, becoming real objects and trying to attack a technician working the machine! The guests and the fair manager must find a way to stop it before more people get hurt.

Innovation Booths - Interactive Stations
Coming to Epcot with Wonders of Innovation are the attractions within an attraction. These booths will replace the various stations where you could test your physical and mental fitness strength. Here, you can try out and test new and exciting inventions such as playing table tennis with a robot and teleportation gobbles, where you can see what's happening outside just a few thousand yards away (pumps in a live feed). These booths will help round out the pavilion and help give it a World's Fair feel.

Restaurant Robot - Quick Service Restaurant
This new quick service restaurant at Wonders of Innovation will allow guests to have a nicer burger or chicken sandwich than a typical Walt Disney World restaurant. Here's the catch, it's all made by robots in an open kitchen. This adds onto the story of new technology being showcased at the World's Fair.

INSERT NAME will serve gourmet American style cuisine (burgers, fries, chicken tenders, etc) as well as salads, sandwiches and other green options.

Future Outfitters - Merchandise Location
This new merchandise location coming to Epcot with Wonders of Innovation will be an interactive shop. While selling nostalgic Epcot merchandise and no generic Walt Disney World clothing or souvenirs, everything will be showcased in a glass container or high up on the wall. When guests find something they
Ike, they'll push a button and the clothing or souvenir merchandise will be retrieved by a robot. The clothing will be lifted above the heads of guests and lowered, similar to that in Monsters Inc. Souvenirs and other collectables will be pushed into a small box with a glass door by a robotic arm. Guests can then see if they like the item and send it back or buy is at a register.

The Festival Center
As a result of the new pavilion, the Festival Center that is used for the International Food and Wine Festival and the Flower and Garden Festival will be moved to the Odyssey. This building is hardly used and when it is pulled out from retirement, it's only for a very short amount of time.

Thanks for reading my submission! I hope you come to Epcot to visit Wonders of Innovation when it opens in 2020!

Session 8 : Wonders Of Vacancy
Concept Creation Challenge 2

For this Concept Creation Challenge the Wonders of Life pavilion was given to everyone. With this abandoned pavilion we were allowed to keep the current life theme or change it to a brand new theme. I decided to keep the theme of life, and to bring in new attractions, stores, and restaurants to reopen this pavilion. However as was stated before all things in this project must be original. So no Inside Out, and no return of any of the former attractions at Wonders of Life.

The exterior of pavilion has stayed the same except for a new coat of paint. Foliage in front of this pavilion has been trimmed down to allow the pavilion to be viewed by all. The ponds up front have been cleaned, and are crystal clear. New plant life have been added to the ponds. A small waterfall has been added to the ponds as well. The former sign of Wonders of Life returns to be viewed by the guests.

wp_wol2.jpg

As guests enter the pavilion the interior has been completely updated with new wall coverings, and flooring. A new directory has been added showing guests in what the direction they need to head towards to experience all the new and wonderful things. Taking place in the Making of You Theater will be the Festival of Life. Taking over the former area of Cranium Command and some backstage area will be Mindscape. Opening where the gift shop and quick service were once located is Sensory Bistro and Up & About. Using the location of Body Wars is an all new thrilling simulator named Corpus Tuum. Finally throughout the pavilion guests will find various fun activities to do with medicine, biotechnology, and other marvels of the human body.

Festival of Life is a brand new show to take place inside the Making of You Theater. Taking place inside a human body; Guests will see Mrs Heart, The Lung Twins, and General Cranium among other animated human organs. Through a 15 minute music spectacular guests will learn about the human body. This new piece of edutainment will contain new songs written by Robert and Kristen Lopez.

Mindscape is a brand new dark ride that takes you through a human brain, and shows off many visual and audio illusions. It will star the newest character to come from Disney, Noah Etal (Kn-oh It-al). Guests will learn of the Pepper’s Ghost effect by seeing a couple dance before them, and then just disappear! There will be plenty of one way mirrors that reveal topsy-turvy rooms. Several near crash scenes with art that seems real, and even colors that guests register differently. Rather it be white-gold or blue-black. All in all this new dark ride will be a fun adventure that shows ways that the brain works.

UK-3D-Pavement-Art-2.jpg

Corpus Tuum is the newest thrill ride in Epcot. Using simulator pods similar to Body Wars guests can enter ones body. Doctors and Scientists have been baffled by a mysterious disease, and decide that the only way to find the cure is to send people in to observe it closely. Guests enter the body and hijinks ensue. Almost getting digested by stomach acids, being attacked by White Blood Cells, and finally after exploring more of the body the disease is found. Guests escape the disease as it tries to kill them. The ride then ends after the scientists and doctors congratulate the guests on a job well done.

Sensory Bistro tests all the senses of a human. Guests walk right in and can other plenty of different options rather it be a standard burger with fries and milkshake or a salad with apple slices and a water. There will be something for every sense and everybody! Up & About is the one stop locale to buy all things to do with the Wonders of Life, and other Epcot goods.

Throughout the pavilion there will be various activities. These activities will be interactive, and full of edutainment. The subjects will include medicine, biotechnology, and other things that help the human body.

Thank You for Reading!

Reposting so you guys know it's done! :)

Just posting my intro for now...

TheOriginalTiki Proudly Presents: "The S.E.A. World Sciences and Technology Pavilion"

Future World as a concept has limitless potential, but sadly plenty of people agree that the area in its current state leaves something to be desired. Memories of long since extinct attractions such as Horizons and the original Journey Into Imagination linger as new fangled but not nearly as memorable experiences such as Soarin' and Mission Space are all the rage. It's time to get Future World back on track, and it's time to focus on a specific part of the concept of "future" that needs to come back to Epcot...That part is how the dreamers of yesteryear such as Jules Verne and Thomas Edison imagined the future to be.

Don't worry, this isn't a tie in to the "Tomorrowland" movie. With my replacement of Wonders of Life I have to tie in a lot of mythology from other Disney parks while bringing it full circle into what will perhaps be the crowned jewel of Future World when all is said and done. The S.E.A World Sciences and Technology Pavilion will be a throwback, "retro-future" view of what the future could have been through the minds of 20th century dreamers and innovators. With a distinct Steampunk astetic and a ton of call backs to other figures in the Disney park mythology, I aim to make this pavilion into a fitting, bold, and never before seen element of Future World that can liven up the entire area.

Exterior and General Layout

The exterior of the building will maintain its dome design, but painted in a copper tone to reflect the time period the attraction is set in. There is an additional show building added onto what's already there, but it will be disguised by a thick line of foliage and virtually invisible to the average guest.

There will be a large fountain outside the theater with a variety of different characters that one might recognize if they're fans of Disney attractions from overseas. Captain Nemo stands proudly over the rest, while below him stand Harrison Hightower with the Tiki god from Tokyo's Tower of Terror in hand along with Lord Henry Mystic and his faithful monkey companion Albert on his shoulder.

hqdefault.jpg

No, not THAT Monkey...

For those not in the know, The Society of Explorers and Adventurers aka "S.E.A" is a group of like-minded adventurous minds which has woven it's way into the backstory and mythology of Tokyo's Tower of Terror, Mystic Manor, and most recently in the new queue of Magic Kingdom's Big Thunder Mountain. These will be the characters tying the pavilion together.

Hanging above the building is a banner reading "S.E.A. Welcomes Dreamfinder". Dreamfinder's induction into S.E.A. will serve as the backstory of this pavilion and what clearly ties it to EPCOT. Above the banner is a stone sign reading "The S.E.A. World Sciences and Technology Pavilion" .

Once inside, guests are treated to a projected night sky under the dome. A lot of the demonstrations have made way for space for more elaborate attractions, but the pavilion still maintains a trade show sort of vibe. Steampunk is the word of the day when it comes to the designs on interior architecture, with exposed bronze gold spikes making up the structure holding up the dome.

There are four main parts of the pavilion. Right when you walk in the reservation desk for "Nemo's"; the pavilion's premier dining experience, is to your left while the theater for "The Magic of Technology" is to your right. All the old theater spaces have been removed, making for a brand new floor plan for the building.

Adventures Thru The Inner Body

This will be a D-Ticket omnimover dark ride that fuses together elements of "Adventures Thru Inner Space" and some concepts from Rolly Crump and Geoff Burke's "Life Health Pavilion" into an original attraction that serves as a spiritual successor and follow up to "Inner Space", using the same nameless professor character in the iconic role Paul Frees made famous. This time, samples of Frees' old narration will be mixed in with Corey Burton providing a brand new narration.

Instead of being zapped into an atom, this time guests will be injected into a blood vein and sent on a trip deep into the human body, from the heart to the brain. The queue will be located at the back end of the pavilion, with the show building extending out from the main exterior.

The set up for the queue will be remarkably similar to the original attraction, with guests watching Omnimovers travel into a large scientific device which then transitions into miniature Omnimovers being shot into a projected image on the wall. The Mighty Microscope will be replaced by a large medical needle. Omnimovers this time around will be fashioned to look like red blood cells and will lack the dome design and instead is an open air vehicle much like the Omnimovers of Buzz Lightyear.

The "cells" will travel out of the boarding area into the syringe part of the needle, while the point is faced towards a projected microscopic image of a blood vein on the wall. As guests travel down the ride's first hallway, they will be video taped, and their live images will appear in a realistic projection within the needle, an illusion made more convincing with dark lighting. Inside the physical needle will be miniature Omnimovers heading towards the blood vein in a callback to the classic Mighty Microscope effect.

This ride will incorporate the most projection technology out of any attraction Disney's ever attempted, while still having a few physical sets to complete the environment. Guests travel down a hallway surrounded by other projected blood cells before reaching the largest room of the attraction...the heart.

A loud beating will be heard throughout the entire room as guests see an elaborate AA of a human heart hanging above them suspended by blood vessels. Corey Burton as the narrator comes on. Much like the original attraction, the narration is meant to composed of the recorded thought waves of the professor the first time he went on this adventure. The professor ruminates about how spectacular it is seeing a live beating heart in person.

We enter a tunnel filled with fans, and bottom of our vehicles experience a floating sensation "Oh no!" the narrator chimes in. "The subject appears to be in a bout of intense coughing, this isn't part of the plan..."

We "float" up via a Hydrolator style effect through projected lungs.

"Once I get to the mouth, one thing's for sure...I cannot leave the body. I need to leave the body in a flow of blood, if I'm the only cell, I'll parish!"

We enter physical set of the mouth, complete with an AA tongue and a pair of teeth extending from above and beneath us.

"I have to head from the brain!" the narration says as we travel up another light incline. Sure enough, the final room in the body is infact the brain. We are in a circular dome room with the brain in the center, a set up similar to the Haunted Mansion's seance room with the Omnimovers traveling around the object of interest. The narration says we need to get into a blood vein and cause a disruption. This will lead to a nose bleed...a perfect way to eject ourselves from the body with a steady flow of blood.

And sure enough, that's what happens. After traveling down another hallway surrounded by projected blood cells, we come out of a nostril and travel out of the body through the nose. The stream of blood caused by the nose bleed then goes onto a metal table. Above us is the familiar sight of the eyeball looking down on us through the Mighty Microscope. We then travel back to the boarding area to the tune of "Miracles Through Blood Cells", a reworked "Miracles Through Molecules".

Around the World in 80 Days Simulator

Replacing "Body Wars" as the main simulator thrill ride of the pavilion will be "Around the World in 80 Days", a simulator which ties the famous Jules Verne novel in with the S.E.A mythology. The plot is that Harrison Hightower (curator of Tokyo's Tower of Terror) sought out famous inventor Professor Fogg to aid him on his travels collecting rare artifacts, specifically to design a flying machine which would shorten the time of the trip significantly for the already aging Hightower, who wanted to devote as much of the remainder of his life as he could to the study of the relics he'd been collecting. The ride will star none other than world famous actor and Martial Artist, Mr. Jack Chan!!

2986-27152.gif

Naaah, just kidding! Forget that version of "80 Days" entirely, because this is going to be a completely different take.

In the queue, we see relics from Hightower's collection stored in what looks like an old timey airport hanger. This is Hightower's storage room for the time being until he can complete his collection. The evil Tiki from ToT can be seen with trademark glowing green eyes. Traveling down a hallway, we see a collection of blueprints tacked to the walls for Professor Fogg's flying machine. We learn that Hightower is so fond of Fogg's invention that he's asked the professor to mass produce the flying machines, and is inviting us to go on a journey with him to some of the places he encountered in his 80 day world-wide trip collecting the relics.

There will be four main "flying machine" vehicles which will seat roughly 20 people a piece, and two main theaters. The design of the flying machines will be something like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by way of Hayao Miyazaki.

imaginaryflyingmachines6.jpg

In the theater there will also be AAs of Hightower and Fogg in their own personal flying machine. Hightower is the more excitable out of the two, while Fogg is the more nervous, not knowing how well the mass produced flying machines were riding in will hold up. After a brief introduction and some banter by Hightower and Fogg, the simulator film begins.

We escape out of EPCOT and crash through Space Ship Earth before hitting a high breeze which makes us travel far up into the clouds. Gliding along, we eventually float back down and hit the Egyptian Pyramids where Hightower proudly proclaims a variety of his relic collection came from.

images

Winding around one of the larger pyramids, we duck down under the head of the Sphinx nearly breaking off its stone goatee. Fogg yelps as a large desert sandstorm heads our way. We get caught up in a cloud of dust as Hightower yells out in excitement.

Fogg is forced to control the flying machine, saying he can only hope our machines follow along as we make our way through the thick clouds of the sandstorm. Emmerging out of the dust, we are once again high above the clouds. Fogg breaths a sigh of relief only to scream out in terror as we get lower to the clouds and see the peak of a mountain poking up from them. Plummeting back down, we see we are face to face with Mount Everest. As an Easter egg, the ruins of Herka Zhong can be spotted about midway up the mountain.

Mount-Everest1370207712.jpg

Winding our way through the Himalayas, we eventually reach the Great Wall of China. Much to Fogg's dismay, we see that rival relic hunters are chasing us using mass produced flying machines that Hightower had ordered. "I told you this technology could get into the wrong hands!" Fogg yells at Hightower.

greatwall-of-china.jpg

We get chased along the Great Wall until Fogg picks up a signal of an approaching hurricane, the perfect device to send us back to Florida. We head back up into the clouds and are caught up in a massive storm, where simulator effects go nuts along with 4D water sprays and simulated giant gusts of wind produced by in theater fans. Finally emerging from the storm, we arrive back in Future World, go around Spaceship Earth (where we see the hole we made is already in progress of being filled in) and back into the S.E.A exhibition hall.

The Magic of Science! Theater Show

This will be a C-Ticket theater show in place of The Making of Me in which Dreamfinder gets properly inducted into S.E.A. The show will feature a Carousel of Progress like message of the evolution of technology, as DreamFinder shows us. A large emphasis will be placed on the "magic" of computers and the internet age, and how the latest technology has allowed the imaginations of artists and dreamers all over the world to expand beyond what was ever thought possible beforehand.

The show is hosted by Lord Henry Mystic and Albert the Monkey from Mystic Manor, with Dreamfinder as a supporting character and a very small cameo from Figment who appears as one of the computer creations Dreamfinder talks about artists being able to dream up with the latest technology.

Nemo's (Dining Experience)
This will be an upscale dining experience onboard the Nautilus. A window looking out into an underwater cave is the main visual draw, with the iconic giant squid swimming by as an AA every 20 minutes or so. Occasionally an actor dressed as Nemo will come on and play from a reproduction of the famous organ.

Les-Mysteres-du-Nautilus-02.jpg

The menu is comprised of exotic sea food from a variety of different foreign locales and cultures. This restaraunt officially ties Nemo into S.E.A., after much speculation due to his large presence within Tokyo DisneySea.

Concept Creation Challenge 2 Reviews

A note to all imagineers that they may have been some confusion on the rules for this challenge. We had intended for all concepts to be original designs (never been done before) but may have confused people with our rule 3 - stating that the ideas are 'original' just as long as they weren't designed for Epcot in the past. We apologize for any confusion, and we will take it into consideration when making our final decisions.

@TheOriginalTiki

- A really interesting concept here. Let's see how you did. Another potential misunderstanding with rule #2...Technically S.E.A. and Dreamfinder are not original concepta, though you took them in a different way, so it's a bit iffy. Again, partially our fault for not clarifying. The amount of detail and design you took into this was very impressive. I do think Adventures through the Human Body is a little similar to the original conception for WoL. Nevertheless, I'm a big medicine fan, so anything health related would be very cool to see. Around the World in 80 Days was nice as well, again tying back to Jules Verne. The Magic of Science and Nemo's was great as well. The overall project is very good The rides/restaurant add to the pavilion's story, and are really cool and exciting experiences! But since it incorporates non-original concepts, it may hold it out from being the top spot depending on the other contestants.

@orlando678-

- Very good concept. A weather pavilion would be a real intriguing addition to Future World, and would blend in nicely with the themes of science and technology. Meteorology and the study of weather is a very important topic in all of our lives, even if we don't recognize it. For your concepts, I really enjoyed them all. As far as the Sunny Rain Cloud show goes, that sounds cool for younger kids, but we still not exactly sure what they are teaching or the story. The only one, as it seems will be a theme throughout, that wasn't original was the Stromstruck, as that's in Innoventions at Epcot. A great show, but since it's not original and in Epcot already it kinda violates rule 2/3. Nevertheless though, a very good concept.

@RMichael21

- Interesting concept and nice theme, fits with the mechanical science part of Future World and worthy of its own pavilion that actually celebrates that theme. We aren't sure how the facade can blend in with the rest of Future World, when there's an eclectic variety of themes and designs within Future World. Doesn't the Wonders of Life Pavilion already fit into Future World? An image or a better description could have helped this. In regards to the concept, we understand there was some confusion in the way of "only original ideas"...While your ATIS simulator is technically not the same, it is a very similar idea and with the same name and backstory. That said, it is a nice ride with the edutainment factor, but we hardly got any story elements from it. The Hologram Wars was a unique concept, but a little more elaboration could have helped It seemed very vague, especially the touch screen part. We don't really see how guests can design their own invention from scratch in a 10 minute queue, and we have no idea what technology would enable them to make whatever they want. Overall, the concept was actually very good, but the design didn't live up to the idea and I feel like some of the negatives could cost you in the end unfortunately.

@tcool

- Nice creation. First off, I really like how you tried to make everything your own ideas. With that said, I feel a little more elaboration or better descriptions could have helped in the long run. But let's see how you did. I like how you kept the human body theme, an gave it a decent upgrade. I did think the Corpus Tuum ride was a little too similar to Body Wars, IMO. But my favorite ride was probably the Mindscape attraction, that would be really neat. Overall, the way you stood out from others is by designed your own attractions and making original creations, yet you could have stood out so much more with a little more detail and some more images. Quite honestly, we think the biggest area of improvement for you would be presentation and writing. But, overall nice job!

@DisneyPrincess1993

- Very nice. This was the last one I read today and it was probably the most unique. The way you incorporated psychology and neuro in a unique way was very well done. There's really something here for everyone. if you're big into science, you can visit the Memory Maps. if you're big into physical activity, then there's something for you (I also like the Cap reference too) And if you're just here for a laugh, then you can visit the Silly Organs, which is actually pretty cool. Overall, this might be the first time I actually don't have anything negative to say. Good project.

Concept Creation Challenge 2 Results

This was a tough one, but we had to eliminate 2 of you from the competition. Results below...

1. @DisneyPrincess1993- You had a really creative concept with very few flaws, and an amazing presentation
2. @TheOriginalTiki- A very close second, but we felt DP's project had a nice presentation and the concept as a whole felt more complete
3T. @orlando678- & @tcool- We had you guys tied at the end of the scoring, you both had great concepts but weren't quite developed enough to earn the win
5. @RMichael21- Unfortunately, while your concept was nice, too many errors and confusion got in the way
6. @Matt7187- It's too bad you didn't post, but as you were active previously, we get it that life gets in the way. Hope you are having a nice trip!

@RMichael21 and @Matt7187, unfortunately, you both have been eliminated from The Creator Games. It's been a pleasure to have you, we'd love to see you both compete in the Omega Challenge and any other future competitions!

And now, Session 8 has officially come to a close! 2 sessions left everyone, and you final four have a long way to go before we deem you the most deserving Imagineer of the winner title and the one chosen by us at WDI!

Session 9: Countdown to Elimination
Concept Creation Challenge

It's almost the end everybody, only one more session you must survive before making the final session, Session 10. There are no Sudden Death challenges, just this one, quick yet challenging 24 hour CC to test you, and to determine who the finalists will be.

This challenge assigns each of you final four one of the four parks to create 1 attraction in. Yup, that's it- we want what you have learned this competition and all of your creativity to come together for you to design a draft for a new attraction for your assigned park. We don't want extensive details, but more just an overview of the experience as well as how it fits into the park. Keep in mind, every winning CC proposal is now existent in this hypothetical scenario, so that may be something to watch out for.

By random draw, these are the assigned parks for the contestants:

@tcool- Magic Kingdom
@TheOriginalTiki- Epcot
@DisneyPrincess1993- Disney's Hollywood Studios
@orlando678--Disney's Animal Kingdom

Challenge due Monday, June 22nd, at 10:30 PM EST. You have just under 24 hours.

Now, the advantages.... For those of you who have held onto your Extension, you now have a choice of how to use your advantage. This applies to @tcool, @orlando678-, and @DisneyPrincess1993. Your two options:
A) As we know, 24 hours is not a long time to create a concept. So, you can now use this opportunity to extend the due time by four hours, making you not have to submit until Tuesday, June 23rd at 2:30 AM without any notice necessary.
B) Some of you work well under the pressure of 24 hours and are up to the task, but desire a bit more creativity. If you chose, you may ignore our assignment and create your attraction in any of the four parks. If you do this, you must submit by 7:00 PM.

@DisneyPrincess1993, for winning the last CC challenge and holding onto your extension, you may take advantage of both sides of the power. @TheOriginalTiki, well, you kinda have nothing ;) :p

Good luck!

Since I have class all tomorrow, I'm going to go ahead and post my project tonight...

TheOriginalTiki Proudly Presents...Clock Cleaners:
A Brand New D-Ticket Family Thrill Ride for the UK Pavilion

Epcot, and specifically the World Showcase, could always use more thrill rides. One of the big failings of Mission Space is the fact that the ride is simply too intense for a large portion of the audience...while the comprise of the less intense simulator left a lot to be desired. Lack of middle ground.

Simply put, EPCOT lacks a family coaster, and it seems like the perfect place to have one in...be it within the outlandish Future World or tied to the culture of a World Showcase country. I've decided to take the latter route and design a spinning "Wild Mouse" type ride taking on the theme of being a window washer for the Big Ben. This family thrill ride is loosely inspired by the Mickey Mouse short of the same name but looses the cartoon characters in favor of a more down to earth but still thrilling premise of the struggle real window washers face on some of the world's tallest structures.

To demonstrate the sheer height of the thrill were going for, a new Weenie will have to be created to serve as a visual centerpiece to the rest of World Showcase. This is where the new "Big Ben" icon comes into play. Big Ben is a scale recreation of the world famous clock tower found in London, painstakingly recreated brick by brick. The tower rises 120 above the World Showcase lagoon, high enough to convey a great sense of thrill while at the top of the ride but low enough as to not totally dominate over the rest of the Epcot skyline.

The clock actually works and makes a dramatic bell tone at the top of every half hour. Sharp eyed guests will notice spinning coaster vehicles swirling around the bottom of Ben's clock, in and out of the tower. Maybe the faint screams of the families above can be heard, getting us hyped up for the thrills to come!

Upon entering the base of the tower structure, were taken in right away by the enormously loud sounds of the "tick-tock" from the arms of Ben's clock above us. All over the walls and hallways as we make our way towards the boarding area are pictures of window washers from throughout history who have scaled the heights of such iconic buildings as the Golden Gate Bridge and the Empire State Building in order to do their jobs properly and keep these structures cleaned to a shine.

The background music to the Mickey Mouse "Clock Cleaners" short can also be heard throughout the queue and the attraction itself, remixed in a funky, techno sort of way to make it unfamiliar to all but the most diehard of Disney trivia buffs. For as much inspiration as I took from that short film, I definitely don't want to have riders actively thinking about Mickey Mouse for the most part. This is a ride about celebrating the bravery of one of the most intense blue collar jobs one could imagine.

After passing by all kinds of pictures of men scaling scrutcures that give us as an audience just a bit of vertigo simply by observing them, we've finally reached the station. The cars are loaded on a giant cog located at the bottom of the tower. High above we can see the gears and mechanisms of the clock busy at work. Getting loaded into our Spinning Wild Mouse style car, we wonder how the hell were going to get up to the top to begin with.

undertow-car.jpg

As you can see, four riders sit with backs to each other as a system at the bottom of the car gives it the distinct free-spinning motions.

Getting loaded into our car, which here looked to be fashioned to look like spare parts from a pocket watch...gears, pulleys etc....We leave the station and enter a nearly vertical lift hill that almost takes the form of an elevator shaft. This vertical lift hill technology will be borrowed from the popular EuroFighter designs, a new breed of "Wild Mouse" style coaster that uses more extreme elements. While we'll be using a traditional "EuroFighter" lift hill to get up to the top of the tower without using much real estate, the rest of the EuroFighter trademarks such as intense loops and beyond vertical drops will be absent from the ride to make way for a more family friend experience.

WFJsZLa.png

A typical lifthill for a EuroFighter coaster.

Once at the top of the vertical lift (which in itself will be one of the more intense elements of the ride by its very nature) we find ourselves deep in the central "face" of the Big Ben clock, with giant gears and cogs ticking all around us and the shadows of the two main "hands" of the clock poking out from outside. We also see cars winding their way in and out through the face of the clock, spinning about as they go.

At this point the cars breaks are still engaged so we remain still, in an almost dark ride type portion when we get to the top just giving us some time to take in the massive scale of the room were in, which will serve as the "arena" for the rest of the ride (much like how Space Mountain usually has one giant "arena" where most of the coaster takes place after you get through the lifts...)

The first major thing you hit is a giant springboard that looks like it's about to pop from pressure. Our cars approach with caution, but caution is not enough. We find the springboard loosening up dramatically and bouncing us around, unlocking the breaks on the car and sending us into a free spin.

We wind our way below a few more cogs and gears within really tight turns that greatly enhance the spinning, before engaging with a second, much smaller vertical lift hill which takes us from the base to the top of the physical "clock" face of Big Ben.

Once at the top, the real thrills begin. We start spinning uncontrollably as we dash in and out of Ben's face, occasionally narrowly avoiding a clock arm (remember, it's telling the real time, so how close your cars actually get to the arms depend on the time of day...Adding for lots of re-ride potential!) Doting in and out of the tower is definitely the visual draw and most exciting element of the ride, but our adventure isn't quiet over once we reach back down to the bottom of the clock's face.

Still in a major bout of spinning, we quickly go through the rest of the inner workings of the clock before finding ourselves right on a very disorientating series of cogs and gears that turn our vehicle forwards, backwards, and all kinds of crazy directions, as we spin we notice we are getting closer and closer to the bottom of the ride. This section is meant to call to mind the chase in The Great Mouse Detective in terms of how close and intimidating the gears are and how nearly they hit you.

the-great-mouse-detective-8.png

Once were about half way down the tower using the gears (the vertical lift hill in plain site the whole way down) we hit a surprise vertical drop which acts as the big "thrill" finale for the attraction as we plummet and spin a good sixty feet back down to the boarding area.

Clock Cleaners is a ride that I hope celebrates not only the bravery of men who have scaled and washed great giant structures such as this, but also act as the ultimate homage to the world's most famous clock tower. So long, Big Ben in Peter Pan's Flight. Disney's got another Big Ben, and this one is AWESOME!

Hope you've enjoyed my proposal :)

To be continued...
