Popped in to say hi... sorry I haven't been around much lately. I hope you all are well and have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!

I was wondering about you this morning actually. I’m glad you popped in. I hope you are doing well.

And Mashed Potatoes done, and in the fridge for TDay.

Tomorrow is baking day. Apple pie, pumpkin pie, and cranberry bread.

bummer about they lay off but mashed potatoes sound excellent and should help comfort a bit.

Did someone say mashed potatoes? Made some tonight. They were ridiculously creamy, buttery, smooth and tasty. And, I made plenty so there will be potato patties for breakfast tomorrow. Maybe too creamy and buttery...nah, no such thing. My secret ingredient, besides gobs of butter and milk, is mayo.

never heard of putting Mayo in mashed potatoes, it makes me curious though. I may have to try it. How much gets put in?

I put in at least a heaping tablespoon full, maybe a bit more depending on how many potatoes I prepared. Mayo in mashed potatoes gives it a great flavor. Let me know how you like it when you try it.

It might be awhile I don’t make them very often. Have you ever put cream cheese or sour cream in yours? If I want super creamy ones that is what I use.

Yes, tried both, like both, especially sour cream.

I keep paper towels in the house but mostly use cleaning towels. Paper towels cost more than just washing

This reminds me of “The Great Diaper Dilemma” some friends of ours went through a few decades ago...disposable vs. cloth.
They didn’t wanna’ send all those dirty disposables to the landfill, but, they also didn’t wanna’ use all that water, electricity, and make more dirty water by washin’ all those cloth diapers. They went with disposables...!!!!!

Oh, well if we're counting weather-related things, I have a pair of rain boots that I wear to the lamb adoption day every year, because you can go into the field and stuff, so I don't like to wear nice shoes for that. But I didn't count those as they are more functional gear rather than fashion-ware.

All my dressier boots are waterproof

Hey Figgy, did you always have a gluten allergy, or did you develop this at some point as an adult?

Allergies are interesting in the sense that sometimes they go away, as mysteriously as they appear. One of my brothers was lactose intolerant as a kid, but when he reached his teens, he was able to drink milk, etc. without any problem. Now, my mother, on the other hand, was lactose intolerant her entire life.

When our youngest DD was in her early teens she broke out in hives all over her body several times a few months apart.
The docs, including an Allergist, never did find out what was causin’ the issue, but, she hasn’t had a problem since, and she’s now 26.
At her first appointment, the Allergist said allergies were a funny thing...you’re not allergic ‘til ya’ are, and then sometimes your not anymore...well, that cleared it up...!!!!!
What he meant was, allergies run the gamut. Some have ‘em multiple and lifelong, some have ‘em younger and not older, some the opposite, etc., etc., etc.
Sounds like science is still workin’ on it...?!!!

You're welcome. Last I heard from her she had several health issues none very serious but combined they made her life difficult and travel out of the question.

We went with cloth. After the initial cost it was only a couple of extra loads a week and no big boxes to cart home
