I am contemplating a WDW vacation from Nov 15-20, and I thought it might be a good idea to start visiting this site more regularly again. Some things never change. This thread still moves as fast as ever.
Everyone has to have insurance, and you pay for it yourself and choose your company and plan, but basic stuff is all covered. If I go to the doctor, my insurance is automatically billed, so I don't have to worry about that, and most prescriptions are also covered. The pill is sometimes covered, sometimes not, but if it's not, it costs something like 10 euros for a year's supply so it's really cheap. I've never had to pay for any proceedure or prescribed medicines, and it also covers a certain number of extras...for example, when I was pregnant and had pelvic instability, it covered my physical therapy, and it covered a wheelchair rental for the period when I couldn't walk. It pretty much covers all the necessities and then if you pay more you can have extras.Curious about the system in place over there. Is it like here with private or other insurance, etc., or is it socialized medicine over there?
Hey, welcome back! Wondered where you had been.I am contemplating a WDW vacation from Nov 15-20, and I thought it might be a good idea to start visiting this site more regularly again. Some things never change. This thread still moves as fast as ever.
Sometimes we drift away, and spend our days doing other things. I haven't been on a Disney trip since 2007, when I went to Disneyland for my 70th birthday.Hey, welcome back! Wondered where you had been.
What you're describing isn't the SYSTEM though. You're saying you think the US has the best DOCTORS...people come from all over the world for procedures because the doctors are knowledgable and skilled. That doesn't really have anything to do with the system though. The system is how much things cost, who can afford it, how insurance is obtained, how easily accessible it is. There's a huge difference between the two....you can have the best doctors in the world, but if people can't afford to go to them, it doesn't help. And the other way is also true...you can have a great system in place where everyone can go to the doctor, but if the doctors aren't well trained, or don't keep up on newer methods etc, that system won't help you. According to the link @Mr Ferret 88 posted, I live in the country with the best healthcare system, but my friend's parents-in-law died within months of each other, both of cancer that went untreated because their doctor kept refusing to test them because they were aging and should expect to feel pain. He insisted there was nothing wrong with them...they were just getting older. They had an inefficient doctor. And my BIL is in the hospital as we speak because the doctors in the ER didn't read the referral from the doctor who said there was fluid in his lungs. They didn't test him and he got worse instead of better and they discharged him only to get him back a week later in even worse condition. They FINALLY did a scan and found the fluid and started treating him for the pneumonia. So the system may be great, but that doesn't mean all the doctors are. And the doctors might be top notch, but that doesn't mean the system works. (not political...just the definition of healthcare system as opposed to the care one receives from health professionals)Despite all the flaws in our healthcare system IMO it is the best in the world, people from all over the world come here for medical procedures (Mick Jagger) The flaws in the system are many (patient, insurance, government, etc) which I won't get into, it would become a political discussion. My final word.

oil tycoons?. The same type that would travel to Saudi Arabia for "business" I guess? We got an email at work today. Due to coronavirus, we are not allowed to travel to China, South Korea, Japan, Italy, or Iran for business. I have one question...
Who exactly was traveling to Iran for business?????
Whatever you want to call it I have no complaints about what we have here in the states. What you're describing isn't the SYSTEM though. I'm still in shock that they wouldn't give you an epidural...like wth???? Did men make up that rule? If so, put them through simulated birth and see how long that rule would take to change. Good grief. What you're describing isn't the SYSTEM though. I got all excited when I saw a sign for a beer cart at work...I'd rather be celebrating my mom's birthday with her, but at least I can toast her View attachment 453762
