Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
I rather have Wisconsin's summers than what Florida has. Florida is nice to visit for theme parks, but the weather is a turn off for a year round state to live in with it being humid and hot.

The cold is part of the territory for Wisconsin.

As far as snow goes, the amount varies by region in Wisconsin and by year also. I know I get lake affect snow due to lake Michigan, the weather from that area does help out the temperatures out in the summer.

Frankly I can do without it and plan for that. I've survived 2 polar vortex episodes and don't want to endure a 3rd. I won't have to shovel humidity and that is what A/C is for. Here we are indoors much of November till May. Not a fan. I like sunshine, lake effect snow not so much. :depressed:

Has anyone ever made Tonga Toast? What bread did you use? I was thinking about making sourdough bread but the whole sourdough starter and discarding dough has thrown me for a loop.

I don''t like to waste food.

I've never tried to make it. Looked up a few recipes and they all seem to call for regular white bread (but you'd have to buy the unsliced loaf). Cut it in thick slices (so that you fit in the bananas, etc.). Good luck and let us know how it comes out! :)

Cool!

I became a thespian last school year, and I've done two shows.
  • Slugworth (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)
  • Harriman F. Spritzer (Hairspray)
I did speech and debate all 4 years of high school. I did Drama, Humor, Oratory, and Duet...not all at the same time. I usually doubled or tripled. But it was fun. I played a Can-Can dancer in Paint Your Wagon when I was in 8th grade because it was 7-12th grades, and there are very few female roles in that and they went to the upper classmen, and a lot of girls played male roles, but I chose not to. Then I played Laura in Ducktales and Bobbysocks my freshman year, Daisy Mae in Li'l Abner my sophomore year, Christie in Little Miss Christie my junior year, and Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady my senior year. For plays, we did something about a ghost one year, but I don't remember what it was called...I know I played Sunny Skye in the Junior High production of The Sky's the Limit. (I think that's what it was called.) And we did Arcenic and Old lace one year....I think my Junior year? Maybe sophomore. But I was one of the little old ladies. And I played Emily in Our Town one year...I think that might have been my freshman year, because there was an incident at play practice that affected the rest of my high school years. Yes, it had to be my freshman year, because it was the year we had a student teacher for Music, and he helped with the play. Then it must have been my junior year that we did the one about a Ghost, but I don't remember what it was. And then I skipped the play my senior year because it conflicted with a music festival for choir.

I was very fortunate in going to a small school where there wasn't a whole lot of competition for the larger roles. I got the lead in the musicals from freshman year on because I was the only one in my school to make All-State, until my Senior year, and then I was the upper classman, so I got the role. But that wouldn't have happened in a larger school. That was kind of my home...music and drama. I was never in the "in" crowd, but music and drama were where I could be myself and where I got to meet kids from other schools who were like me, and actually make friends. I didn't really like high school, except for my extracurriculars.
