It is a downer and hard to understand. Here in Cary, NC which is supposed to be one of the most affluent cities in NC, Malls are dying a slow death. I've lost count of how many shopping centers are empty or half the stores are emptyC. The main mall in town has lost over 28 stores out of 55. One was a Sears and another was a Macy's. (I have no idea what is keeping J.C. Penney's alive.) Both were huge stores. The rest have been closing up on the average of one per month. Also, many of the chain restaurants are following suit. Right here where the headquarters for Golden Corral is only about 8 miles away we lost ours here in Cary, also a 5 Guys, TGIF, Macaroni Grill, Carrabba's, Bob Evans, Chili's Sweet Tomatoes and even a Burger King just across the road from the High School. (how could that have happened) And yet, they keep telling us how great the economy is. Tell that to all the people that lost jobs in those places.

AMEN.

I remember there was another toy store growing up in the 70’s. It was Kids World I think. Then there was K B Toys. Anyone remember those?

I don't remember Kids World, but, I remember KB was in our local mall when it first opened in '95. It was gone before '00 though, IIRC.

The store's name was Child World. (I vaguely recall some of their TV commercials--I put a link under the photo--@MySmallWorldof4 do you remember this?)

I'm not really up on all major U.S. airport sizes, but I do know that O'Hare is large and very, very busy. I think I only went through there once years ago (connecting flight--maybe to Vegas, at the time), and I recall that we were # 13 in line for take-off! :hilarious: (Yes, it was a little congested that day!)
Another reason not to fly commercial!

Just got this email. So darn sad. Dh said that Target and Aldi are considering purchasing the name and trademark.

I liked KB as they tended to be cheaper and smaller than R Us so I could get in and out quicker and with less damage to my wallet

Times just keep a' goin' and a' changin'...
When people ask me "How's it goin'?" I usually reply "It goes...no matter what I do, it just keeps goin'...!!!"
Goin' a bit too fast, much of the time, but, hey, that's not my department, and I definitely wouldn't want to be in charge of it...!!! ;)
We had 2 not far from us and both were 2 of the last to close. I don't remember exactly what year but James went into the GOOB sale with a list:cautious:

I cannot believe all of those restaurants closed. I get the malls and it is sad. Many people are just purchasing online, but when it comes to food, it is easier to go out. No mess to clean at home. I didn't like 5 Guys though when I did eat meat. The buns were always so greasy and were mushed. Friday's is no longer the cool place it was in the 80's and 90's. Chilis is great though as are the other 2 Italian places you listed. I think the Sweet Tomatoes chain has issues because I have seen a few close.

We have a Fuddruckers 5 mins. down the road near the mall. We used to go there pretty often, but, it's been at least a few years. I don't ever remember quesadillas or baked beans on the menu. Maybe because you can get them at so many other places (DS had quesadillas
tonight) around here...? IDK?
My go to was usually a 1/3 lb. burger with just cheese on it that I would dump a little A-1 on. That's it...cheesy chopped steak sandwich...!!! :hungry:
Never had a bad burger there, but, it sounds like they aren't doing adequate regional, and even location to location research. I thought most companies payed people good money to do that?
Then again, maybe it was a profit margin thing...?
Who knows...? :cyclops:
Yeah, I get the profit margin thing. But the quesadilla only required a purchasing of the tortillas themselves. They technically have the other ingredients already, like cheese and chicken, for those who wanted chicken. Maybe I should write to headquarters? Bring back my quesadillas!:hilarious::hilarious: Of course I can easily make them at home and do. ;)

That's it!!! Child World, a world of toys, great for girls, and great for boys. Child World where prices go...So low, low, low , low, low.
Can't believe I remember the jingle after all these years. As soon as I saw the name, I remembered it. Thanks!
