For us, we have always gotten comments on my daughter's hair from all types of people because she's always had big Diana Ross hair. She was born with a lot of hair and would never sleep with braids--still won't. (A normal scrunchie will only go around her hair once.) When someone would say something I taught her to politely say thank you and I would say thank you and move on. Words are words. If a situation set my momma senses off or I knew either of us were uncomfortable I would immediately take ourselves out of that situation.

I've paid compliments to kids and talked to them and their parents while waiting in line. I always try to commend parents on how well behaved their kids are when the situation warrants it. Sometimes parents just need to hear that. I think, IMO, that in today's society people are so easily offended by anything when 99% of the time it is harmless conversation but then there's that 1% of weirdos out there as a parent we need to be on guard for.
Agreed, 100%. I think for us it's who is doing the complimenting and how. It's one thing to say "Oh I love your hair!", but I would be really creeped out by some single guy saying "Can I just tell you how beautiful your daughter is?" I don't know...it just feels different. And I talk to people as we're standing in line, but I don't usually talk to kids about how they look...I'm usually more focused on things like..."Is this your favorite ride?" or "Who is your favorite character?"...something to talk about to make the time go faster. And I think it's also different when it's a family vs. a single 30 something man. I guess it just depends on the way they are interacting with you and the child.

Those are all logical questions to ask, however watching it today.... those questions are irrelevant. They keep the groundhog in a cage that resembles a stump. They put two scrolls on top of the stump, one for more winter and one for early spring. Then they take the groundhog out of the cage and put him on top of the stump too. Then the guy with the magic stick that "allows him to talk to and understand groundhogs" says, "he chooses this scroll" and taps one of the scrolls with his magic stick. Then they read the scroll and the groundhog goes off to take photos with people.

My biggest beef here is that they report this poor groundhog only has a 40% accuracy rate, when he doesn't get to do the predicting at all. Some old white guy decides and they blame it on the rodent.
So it really has nothing to do with the groundhog or with shadows or anything? Wow....
One of my college professors told us that his grandma always made sausage on Feb. 2nd. I didn't get it because I had never paid attention to when "ground hogs" day was...it was just never on my radar.

I am in the midst of Ketchup. I will get there, eventually.

Brought DD to school very early...she had to be there at 4:15. (I know, perfect time for you @figmentfan423 ). I have been keeping track of her plane. She should be landing in a little under 30 minutes.
How did she feel going without you? Is this her first trip without family to Disney?

As far as I know it is a tradition that the early German immigrants in the 1800’s brought with them. The groundhogs looked liked badgers from Germany. They watched their hibernation practices and thought they predict how soon Spring would come by when they stopped hibernating.

Good morning. Thanks for all your prayers and pixie dust. MIL's surgery went great. She actually has color back in her face this morning. The nurses are getting her up to walk sometime today. She will probably be discharged Sunday and transferred to a rehab facility, which happens to be across from their home, how lucky is that? That will be good for her so they can get her up and moving plus her house is not suitable for taking showers when she can't get her leg up over the tub. Some improvements are going to have to be done by my DH and BIL before she returns home. I gave them instructions to remove all slippery rugs that she has all over the house. And FIL is not good at doing anything around the house. He basically lets MIL do it all. This shall be a test for him. DH talked to some of their friends without them knowing to ask if they would keep an eye on FIL for us. He is getting really bad about remembering anything and basically taking care of himself. DH had to remind him yesterday to eat breakfast before heading to the hospital.

Gotta love the postal service. We always put the mail on hold while wecre away. Laat time, I orsered an Amazon packave figuring they would hold it until I got home. What did they do? Delivered it. And then I had cat litter sent, and again they delivered it.

And then today, I ordered cat food, figuring they would deliver it. What do they do? Not deliver it. "Your mail is on hold." Well, that didn't stop you before! Oh and my favorite: "We don't pick and choose what we deliver." Oh you don't?

Good grief.

Glad the surgery went well. More pixie dust for a smooth recovery.

Guess you will have to make a run for the pet store or will have to pick it up yourself at the post office.

ok I figured they'd marry off Laura, but she's gone again? Wait Anna has another child?????????????????

Yes. Anna viewed Faison's dead body in the morgue, and tells it that she kept their child a secret successfully all these years. Like I said, General Hospital is getting creepy again. The storylines that they want us to believe lately, just leave me scratching my head mostly, and not wanting to watch.

I picked it up at the post office. It was either that or have another bag shipped to the friend taking care of the cats. It's Blue Buffalo Adult Sensitive Stomach cat food. It's the only thing that doesn't make Belle vomit or have hard stools, and I can't just run to the grocery store and get it. Pet Smart might carry it, but they're 20 minutes away, whereas the post office is around the corner. So I jumped in my mom's car (we put moth balls in my engine when we go away, and of course they were already in my car) and went over.
