Been a rough day.
How 'bout it. A town up here is loading semi's with donated diapers and baby needs for Texas organized by the county leaders.
Our cluster of towns is loading relief supplies for younger kids. Board games, cars, trucks, dolls, bats, balls, footballs you name it.
So much stuff lost and too many kids in shelters without lots to occupy themselves. The semi is loaded. Time well spent by many.
Hugs . . . I can really empathize with you. My previous dog (before Jack) was my little soulmate. She was an angel sent from God, and I truly believe that. It took me over a year to stop grieving in a big way; truth be told, I don't think I'll ever get over the loss of her, but time helps to move her out of the forefront of my mind. That's the best I can hope for you and Walt.
@donaldtoo , I know you're working away at ketchup here, but if you happen to see this tag on time, I just wanted to let you know that @ajrwdwgirl is having a delicious smoked brisket holiday meal this weekend. (Her hubs is a great outdoor chef.) She's making mac and cheese to go along with it.
I just had to share my excitement!(Hoping she's going to post some pictures of the meal, so that everyone can grab a hunk of meat out of the computer screen!)

Well, Donald.. the Chit Chat tread is about discussion of whatever seems to be the topic of the day. I know that I am one of the ones that you are referring to and frankly I don't care if you think it is wrong. You have the power to skip over the sections that you personally find offensive, just as I do. You don't think it should be there, that doesn't mean it doesn't have a place in any chit chat type of discussion. Even everyones favorite Walt Disney movies had a dark section in them. It's part of being human to vent, especially when they think it is a safe place to do so. None of these things last a long time, before moving on, and life isn't all sugar castles. So in your own words... have some self control, please figure it out. It's not difficult. Get a grip!I'm out.
Those of you here who still can't grow up and have some self control, please figure it out, please.
It's not difficult. Get a grip...
No I understand...I had those spells for months after having our dog put to sleep. Every time I'd see something about pets, I'd start bawling. We lost him about 2 weeks before my mom died, so I was a MESS for a while. He was 17 and was miserable....incontinence, a huge tumor, mobility problems...my mom had him put down when he wasn't able to make it to the door to go outside to the bathroom. She was so sick herself that she couldn't take care of him and my brother and I both lived 4 hours away. I hated it, but we really couldn't let him suffer anymore. I'm glad you can look at pet stores at least.Way too fresh for us. We both having crying spells which is probably stupid to some, but it has been only 3 months today. We have been able to look at kitties at pet stores now so that is getting better.![]()
I was pet-sitting for a friend of mine in high school. They had a whole menagerie. A cat, 2 turtles, a hermit crab, some fish I think...I don't even remember all of them. But I'd go every day and the cat's bowl was still full and I hadn't seen the cat anywhere. This was a HUGE fat cat...hard to miss. After about a week of the full bowl, I went looking. The family had closed every door in the house before they left....the cat had apparently gone into one of the rooms and was under the bed. I opened the door and it made a beeline for its dish. I felt sooooo bad that I hadn't gone looking before. I mean, it wasn't my fault, I wasn't the one who closed the doors or anything, but the poor thing must have been STARVING.She meowed like, ""I though I'd never get out!" I picked her up and hugged her because I had been so worried, and she took it, purring at me. Then she went to bother Belle.
I've had my cats get stuck in closets before (Belle will routinely get herself stuck in the pantry). Moxie, my tabby, used to sneak outside, and we'd suddenly wonder where he was, and we'd find him laying on the driveway like, "I was wondering when you were going to come get me." But I've never had one that got stuck overnight. At she didn't have any accidents in the closet. Thank goodness.
Actually, I checked the rules, and only politics and religion were mentioned as taboo. The conversation you are upset about does not fit into either of those categories. LOTS of things are social issues... Hurricane Harvey relief is a social issue. Autism is a social issue. A lot of members here have things going on in their lives for which they need a support system, and if we aren't allowed to talk about those things, we might as well not have a thread at all. I'm sorry you don't like the discussion, but it does not violate the rules. You do not have to participate if you don't like that particular topic.Yes, Isn't it amazing, still after all this time, it's amazing how many "adults"here still have no self control to adhere to the rules of the thread/forums...?!?!?!?!?!?!
Certain members here had a whole discussion that had no place on this thread about selfcontrol of children, but, yet they couldn't control themselves.None of them seem to be able to practice what they preach.
For some reason, they chose to carry it out here, instead of a more appropriate place where they could duke it out, and the rest if if us in what's supposed to be be our happy thread would't have to put up with it
Good Lord, what happened to a pretty fun thread...?!?!?
It doesn't hafta' be benign, but, good Lord people, keep your political, and social stuff off of THIS a thread.
Or, if you you still don't get it by now, go get a checkup from the neck up...
We saw the CUTEST dogs on the planet today. DD and I had to take back a pair of jogging pants to Primark (the hanger said they were extra small...they were apparently on the wrong hanger and we hadn't bothered to check, they were medium.) So we were walking through the city shopping district and there was this elderly couple with 2 little dogs in a baby stroller and one on a leash and I swear to you I have never seen cuter dogs. DD ran after them to ask if she could pet them, and while she was petting the ones in the stroller, the one on the leash jumped up like "ME TOO!!" so she knelt down to pet her and the dog jumped right in her lap and gave her kisses. Made DD's day. They were just these tiny little furballs!
How about the cutest PUPPIES on the planet then...I am not sure if they were fully grown or not...they were one of those teacup breeds that stay tiny and adorable. But they were in a baby stroller....so they had to be puppies, right?I beg to differ....this is the cutest dog on the planet.

I buy both because I wear mittens over my glovesI don't want to use them yet but there are some good looking mittens there. I am partial to mittens over gloves I like the black nordic design the one towards the bottom between the black/white snowflake and the black speckled pair.
