We went up to over $4.00 a couple years ago. We didn't like it... we are back to tolerant of it. The problem is that people like me, remember buying gas for our cars when it was 29 cents a gallon.

When I was 15 my Father owned a 1963 Buick. It was a dealer demonstrator vehicle. The biggest engine Buick made at the time. He had bragging rights for having the car with the most gas usage of any of his friends. It got 6 miles per gallon and, at the time, that made him the winner. We also had a 19 foot (not meter) travel trailer. When that was hooked up it got 3 miles per gallon. That car had so much power that it could go by everything on the road except a gas station.

My first car was a 1960 Plymouth, slant six, station wagon. When my friends and I went out cruising with it, I'd take up a collection and put a dollars worth of gas in it for the evening. Good times. My second car was a VW Beetle. I could push that into a gas station with a dry gas tank and fill it up for $2.99.

My brother would never fill up his car all the way, since he only drove it a few miles to work each day. SO he'd go to the gas station, and put $5 worth of gas in the tank, and drive until it was almost on empty again. One day he was near my house, out of money, and needed gas for his car. He borrowed $5 from me, and promised to return that to me tomorrow. Yup, tomorrow came, and I had my $5 back. He was good like that. I hate borrowers, but there are some who do return just like they say. Sadly, I know more of the opposite kind.

Happy farm market Saturday. Everybody have a safe and wonderful weekend.

We were going to go to the farm market today but it was raining. So we just went to the grocery store instead. Most of the farm market is under cover but it just didn't seem appealing in the downpour, and we mostly needed meat and some canned goods anyway. I hope you got some good finds!

Just a note to those in the Northeast (not sure about rest of country) -- with the hurricane down South, gas prices are going up, because of the distribution chain. Deliveries experience delays, etc. It's not a shortage situation, but the prices of gas go up during something like this. Hubs filled up the car the other day, and mentioned that prices here as of yesterday morning, had already gone up 15 cents a gallon.

I heard that on the news this morning too. I was glad my gas tank was full but I know that will impact the prices on other things too.

I heard the most glorious sounds yesterday afternoon while cooking. The sound of the school buses making their practice runs It's not going to be long before my life gets back to normal

There was a cross country meet here on Thursday so we had a lot of buses going past. I think my dog was a little confused, usually the buses mean I'm not here.

My daughter brought home papers yesterday for Science Club.

Cool! Is it like a competition club like Science Olympiad or more of a general interest club? Our school has Science Olympiad, our two main high school teachers run it and I'm sure I could help out but there are too many weekend competitions and I don't want to give up my weekends for it.

Yay! I'm spending today with my pup! We were going to take her to the farmer's market but it was just too rainy outside and she doesn't like rain. We did let her ride in the car to the grocery store though.

Anaheim weather looks great for my trip. Makes packing a whole lot easier. Trying to get most of it in a carryon suitcase, so I can just travel with my new "over the shoulder" bag that I brought for the park. I leave a week from tomorrow.

Perfect! Just in time for our road trip to Hilton Head. At least those gas points will come in handy from our supermarket.
But that is just a mild issue compared to what those poor people in Texas will be dealing with for a while to come. Hope all is well @donaldtoo. Heard it is a Cat 1 right now, but way too much rain.

We filled up the truck and an extra gas can because it was $2.03. I don't want to see the price today.

By us it was $2.55 yesterday. PA has some high gas taxes.

That is true, but isn't your island only about 1/2 the size of Washington DC? Not much distance driving for you there, unless you find yourself on the mainland often. Then YIKES!!

I just got back from running to the store to pick up an item I forgot yesterday after work.
It's definitely hurricane-ish out there, although we are in a lull with the rain, for now. I can't remember the last time I saw this much wind here (other than the fact that us Texans are well-known for bein' kinda' full a' wind, anyway ).
It looks like Harvey ground-zeroed our beloved Port Aransas. Have yet to see pics, but, it can't be good.
Anyway, like I posted before, I'm surprised it took this long for Texas to get hammered by a major storm again.
