@donaldtoo , you certainly know your area better than any of us; but again this morning (national news at 4 AM), I was watching Harvey's path to Texas. Austin may not be in the worst part of the hurricane circle, but it still is within the outer part of the circle. Looks like a few days of rain accumulation, and with the wind, there may be a concern about power outages. (I have no doubt that you're supplied with what you need, just in case. And just as a gentle reminder, please fill up the gas tank on your car now, unless already done.)

How about your parents--I know they're very resourceful. I'm assuming they have some nearby neighbors who can check in on them, if need be.

Hoping this storm fizzles out a bit over land.

Thanks Minnie.
Folks are prepped, we're prepped, I'm sure we'll be fine.
Unfortunately, not so much for those down south.
Stuff seems to happen, no matter where we live on the planet.

Enjoy it! Today was the last day of summer vacation here, Saturday and Sunday are now just the weekend since I start back to work on Monday. :( It's going to be a difficult day, Kapono and I are pretty used to our routine and being with each other all day.

Getting a paycheck again will be nice though.;)
I started school with my kids this past Monday. Got 1 doing Algebra 2 and another Geometry. The older 2 are doing Chem with a lab as well. This is the first time I have all 4 doing a full day program. It has been an interesting week. Well at least I keep my brain cells functioning well with all this fun stuff.:)

That's exactly it...if you are determined to do it, at LEAST make it safe for the kids. I overheard some other parents talking about the same things this morning...how unsafe and inconvenient is. Everyone sees it, and we're not professionals.
DS got into a bike accident this morning because of the narrow entrance to the parking lot...well, it was more the kid who just decided he HAD to be in front of DS and raced to get through before him and cut him off because there's not enough space for 2 bikes at once and DS was already starting to go through. But when you've got 300 people arriving by bike in a 15 minute span of time, who makes an entrance that only one bike can get through at a time, AND you make them step off their bikes as soon as they are through that entrance? That's just designed for accidents there. It's extremely sad that they cared more about their own image than what was good for the people and what is safe, especially for the kids.
Hopefully ds doesn't have any more bike issues. Does not sound like an intelligent design.

Wow, that's some advanced stuff. I wasn't ever a fan of Algebra or Geometry, Chemistry was cool though. What ages are your kids again?

I LOVE the smell of skunk, but can't stand any of the other odors you listed.

This shocks me!! You're the second person on the forum here, who "likes" the smell of a skunk??!! I'm honestly wondering if people have specific DNA markers for example, that affects their sense of smell--that is completely different from other people's olfactory sense?

Had a few errands to run after work, so I just got home about a half hour ago.
Just as I got in my car from the last errand the first drops started hitting my windshield/windscreen ;). About a minute later, as I was on my way home, it started coming down in sheets. I drove about 10 mph all the way through the neighborhood to the house. Right as I got to the front door it let up. :bored:
One of the first outer bands...
I'm so glad you made it home before it got bad. Stay safe my friend. Sending prayers and pixie dust for you and yours.

Best of luck to you in the new school year. Those kiddos don't know yet, what a great teacher they will have.:)

Just a note to those in the Northeast (not sure about rest of country) -- with the hurricane down South, gas prices are going up, because of the distribution chain. Deliveries experience delays, etc. It's not a shortage situation, but the prices of gas go up during something like this. Hubs filled up the car the other day, and mentioned that prices here as of yesterday morning, had already gone up 15 cents a gallon.
