Memories...
When I was a child, we lived in San Jose from '68-'76. We visited Santa Cruz many times and, although we never rode it, I remember a car ride there. Mostly, we hung out on the warf. Sometimes it was a day trip from San Jose, other times it was a side trip from either New Brighton Beach, Seacliff Beach or Sunset Beach where we were camping.
Good times...! :)

When the kiddos were younger we actually used it quite often every year. It keeps the front of the house nice and toasty.
We had some really chilly (for us) winters back then.
For about the last decade our winters have been pretty mild, so that is probably about how long ago we used it. There are enough cold nights here and there to motivate others, but, I just don't feel the need to crank it up for only a few times per winter.
I used to call a sweep out every 2 years when we used it. I'm sure the flue would need a thorough cleaning at this point. Wouldn't be worth it, to us anyway, to do that now.
Maybe that will change down the road, we'll see. More good memories...! :)

Funny thing is, I can't remember the last time at the firm we designed a house without a fireplace, many with several.
Also, outdoor fireplaces/pits/features are definitely popular here, too.

I love the wharf. The tiny human and I are going to be spending a week by the wharf in November. There's just no substitute for the ocean smell here in Ohio, lol. I need the beach.

Same here! I have always loved the ocean smells, too! :)
We have a lot of coastline here in Texas, but the closest beach is about 4 hrs. away from us.
Even so, 4 generations of my family have traveled there many times over the years. Port Aransas is the name of the town.

CA beaches are definitely more scenic, but the water is always so darn cold! :cold: TX beaches, although pretty in their own way, aren't, of course, nearly as scenic as CA beaches, but, our warmer water temps are much more pleasant for swimming (for most, anyway ;)).
Heck, almost too warm, sometimes...on your typical summer afternoon in July or August, it pretty much feels like bath water...!!! :hilarious:

Hope you and the little one have a great trip to Santa Cruz in November...! :)

I've been bored with Epcot for years now. I'm so happy about all the announcements coming for that park. A lot of times, my parents will go to Epcot to walk through World Showcase and my brother and I will head to MK or DHS to ride all of their rides on repeat.

We're basically getting four new rides and sacrificing GMR and Ellen. I like GMR, but it's dated and requires a lot of manpower. I cam see why they would want to update it, and now they don't have to pay royalties to use scenes from non Disney-owned entities. And Ellen was way overdue for an update.

I'm thrilled with all of the announcements, quite frankly. I reload the homepage every five minutes to check for new announcements.

It's funny because I was absolutely clueless on what weather was good swimming weather for my toddler because growing up the water was cold no matter what. We just jumped in, got numb, and then had fun :hilarious::hilarious:

My mom friends have set me straight though. 75* and sunny or 85* and cloudy, lol

Yep, we swam at those beaches, but, never as often or for as long as we do here...numb is right...! :confused: ;) :)
