These zebras at the zoo got along better with each other than Disney Animal Kingdom zebras do. ; )

I enjoyed all the photos you shared of your mini-vacation. Have to say that this one of the zebras takes First Prize though!!

Mom, pop, all 11 of their grandchildren, and our SonIL...! :)

What a nice-looking family!! Pops looks so proud and happy.

What caught my attention about this photo was that many people were in shorts and t-shirts -- in January??!! (Ha! I keep forgetting that you're way down there in Texas, where the weather is all mixed up! :hilarious: )

Loved his birthday cake by the way--very clever use of the 21 candle! :p Funny, it also looked like it was just his slice only (the whole cake, that is) the way it was just in front of him only. :D I would have approved of that, myself!!

Yum! Ever since I went to France, I have discovered how tasty duck is. I order it in restaurants but I'm a little too nervous to make it at home. I might give it a whirl sometime.
The good thing about duck is it has lots of fat so it's hard to dry it out. You really should try it at home some time. I believe Alton Brown did a Good Eats show on how to cook duck.

We went into the Eataly store/restaurant/wine/produce/butcher/pastry etc store today. While some of it was beyond expensive, cheaper than my local supermarkets for quality produce. Many small sub restaurants and small plate bars, pizza stations even a Nutella Bar. 2 stories. Room after room but in a loft style.

Me of course was more impressed with their corkscrews which I could never justify purchasing.

Now I'm beyond jealous. I love a good kitchen gadget store. Never can have too many LOL Sometimes the basics are best like my favorite rolling pin. Just a simple tapered wood one from "France" of course:joyfull: BTW the cork screws reminded me of the movie Robots

Happy New Year. Hope everyone had a great/safe New Year's Eve. My husband starts a new job tomorrow. Our zebra finches have had babies, and so we are now the proud parents/owners/caretakers of 2 parakeets, and 6 finches.

I am wishing/hoping everyone a great 2017. I will be 70 this year, and if all goes right, I am hoping I can celebrate my 70th birthday in Anaheim, California's Disneyland.
Good luck for both the new job and trip. Sounds like 2017 will be both interesting and fun for both of you.

Happy New Year to you, too!! Hope you had a nice Christmas, or whatever other holiday you chose to celebrate recently. Best of luck to your husband in his new job tomorrow; I'm in the same boat--a new job for me starting tomorrow, too. (No pressure . . .)

That's fun about all the birds you have now. I remember when you just bought your first few. Sounds like the birds are happy and healthy!!

Hoping that you'll get your wish to celebrate your 70th at Disneyland this year!

Good morning there's an ice storm coming in so we are going NOWHERE today! I'm letting everybody sleep in one last time before life gets back to crazy tomorrow. I hope the roads are clear tomorrow morning. Now @Mr Ferret 88 knows why I order salt by the truckload:hilarious: anyhoo waffles and gravy for breakfast. I made a freezer full of waffles with the new waffle iron the boys got me so I have to do something with them:confused:

Color me curious . . . waffles and gravy? Do you mean gravy like beef gravy or chicken gravy? For breakfast? o_O

I've been watching one of the strangest parades I've ever seen. It's London's New Year's Day Parade. It not bad, just strange. The mc didn't even know who the characters were. They confused the Grinch characters with the Frozen characters. It's still on RFD-TV, if anyone is interested.

Yes, we celebrate Christmas at our house, and I am in the tail end of removing all signs of it from our house. Today, I will concentrate on the kitchen where all my Christmas mugs need to be switched out with the normal ones that I packed up a month ago. Since our birds have multiplied to 8, we are moving the parakeets to my room in the back of the house, because their squawking has gotten too loud in the dining room where my husband works. They should like it back here, where I spend most of my time with my computer, and all my other hobbies. The window lets in some good light. However, I am a night owl, so putting them to sleep will be a much different time frame then what has happened so far. Spin and Marty have gotten quite big since we first brought them home. Still a bit timid, but definitely enjoying their life as bird mates/friends/buddies.
